Why did they do it? Sar just couldn't find a logical reason for it. They just rolled the dung like he'd roll a round rock. It was dung. Where was the beetle taking it? Why was the beetle taking it? What was the point?
That was why Sar was following the rolling ball of dung and it's pusher. He had already gone and dissected the dung beetle a few times, but this was something that dissecting and understanding the insides of something wasn't going to solve. Sar needed to observe and watch the dung beetles to try and understand it all.
He dodged around small boulders to stay close enough to the dung beetle to watch it's actions, but be far enough away not to spook it. He kept out of the little bug's sight so as not to startle or scare it. Other things smaller than him, smaller and not as strong as lions, often froze and forgot that they were being observed when they caught sight of him. Sar didn't want to have to go through the frustrating process of pretending to not notice the beetle. Or worse, abandon the study. So he continued to be careful, following the dung beetle's path.
