WHO: Willow & Konstantin.
WHEN: Noon.
WHERE: A random patch of forest. Somewhere halfway between the two Dust's residences!
WEATHER: Clear, bright skies. A slight chill to the air.

She did not know where the morning had gone! Willow had set off at the crack of dawn, leaving her Papa a poorly written note explaining that she was heading out on an adventure, and she would be back later for dinner. The pumpkin Dust just hoped he could read her hardly legible scribbles and crossings outs. He was always complaining about her handwriting, funnily enough that was the lesson he had planned for her today, if she had stayed at home like a good little girl that is! Instead the girl was knee deep in mud and having a ball! Her boots and coat were coated, a few stray speckles even made their way onto her face and cotton shirt. No doubt she would head back later and put muddy footprints all over her Papa's polished floor, the thought made her chuckle and an evil glimmer flashed in her amber eyes, she would have to make sure to do just that!

Small gloved hands finally wrapped around a small green creature. "Gottcha, Mr Frog!" She smirked, putting the creature into an empty jam jar that she had taken from the inn's kitchen earlier. (Not that it was empty when she found it, she sure hoped nobody wanted marmalade on their toast this morning!). She loved collecting frogs, the girl often took them home and released them into the guests bedrooms at the dead of night. Humans were so scared of them and she never could understand why. She thought frogs were cute! and their slimy exterior felt awesome cupped between her fingers. She put the jar back into her bag, then scratched her nose, only to leave a large muddy stain across her face. The rumbling in her belly told her it was time to head home, she could smell Papa cooking pies this morning, and she idea of stealing a slice made her mouth water. He might be angry with her for sneaking off again, but denying her pie was near child abuse in her eyes! He wouldn't!

The girl finally climbed up the bank, her boots slipping and sliding on the muddy terrain that framed the small stream where she had spent her morning. The ground was covered in decomposing leaves, giving the air a dense, dank stench that made her nose twitch. An icy wind shook the leaves, making a couple fall and sending a rustling noise through the forest. Willow whipped her coat, straitening herself out -not that it did any good- before pulling her scarf over her chin and heading back home, where a forced bath was undoubtedly waiting for her.

She wandered to the outskirts of a forest when a strong gust of wind blew past her, she raised her hand and closed her eyes to shield her face from sharp, little specks of dust which had got caught in its force. She could feel her hair blow around frantically and before she opened her eyes she knew her hat was no longer in place. She turned around to see it prancing away from her, turning and twisting uncontrollably in the wind. "HEY! THAT'S MINE!" She called, dropping her bag to the ground and chasing after it with due haste. As it landed the lid came falling off of the jam jar and her possessions scattered across the ground, and the frog squirmed out of its prison and took this chance to leap to freedom.

Willow, unaware she had just lost her mornings work, continued to chase after her hat, brambles and branches pulled at her clothing, catching the material and making small holes in places. She panted, her breathe forming a slight fog around her dry, rosy lips. She gritted her teeth as her troublesome hat flew over a bush and she lost sight of it. Though that did not mean she gave up the hunt. She loved her hat, and God damn it she was not returning home without it!

A rush of wind flew by, rustling nearby leaves to twirl them through the air and on the ground. A certain rough, brown hood rustled as well, and the dark red scarf wrapped around a certain russet skinned boy's face. Faced with the coming Winter, he was wrapped up and hidden. At least with the chill it was easier to hide, though Konstantin wished it weren't necessary. The warmth offered by the clothing was appreciated, at the very least, as Alfons warned him that if he were to go around shirtless in this chill, he'd wind up sick as he had been -- and that, most certainly, was an unpleasant place to be.

The two of them being outside at all was strange, but Alfons had offered him the most meager of explanations. That was fine with the pup, he would rather live as uncomplicated a life as possible and his guardian's work was just that: complicated. As he was told, they were to be "killing two birds with one stone", though Kon had yet to see any birds and Alfons had not picked up any stones along the way. There was some work to be done on Alfons' end, while Kon would be able to roam free in a mostly open field near a forest under the agreement that he not, under any circumstances, leave Alfons' sight or enter the forest. That was fine with him, as forest was easily framed and the rest of the town was surrounded by a quite open field that had all sorts of shrubs, brambles, and small ponds in it. It was rather the perfect place for him to muck about in while the day was dreary and overcast so as to not interrupt or distract Alfons from his work.

It seemed, then, that one of the "birds" made its way towards him by way of the wind -- and hit him straight in the face. Kon's black nailed hands reached out, taking hold of the wide brimmed had which clung to him. He pulled it off and examined the thing, tilting his head slightly as his lengthy, canine ears twitched beneath his hood, tickled further by his hair. They perked quickly at the sound of footfalls nearby and he turned, one eye peeking out of the hood at the mud covered girl running towards him. In that moment, something clicked and his fingers tightened around the hat. His eyes widened and he gave her a short, mischievous grin before dodging off, cutting a corner, and running past her in the direction she had just come, hat in tow. His long pants concealed both the tail behind him and his bare paws, but the prints that followed him were clear; there were no shoes upon his feet and the mud trailed after him in the shape of a dog's paw.

Willow came rushing around the bend just in time to see her hat hit the boy in the face. Glad that it was no longer helplessly flying around in the wind she ran towards him, for a moment thinking retrieval would be simple and generally go down without a hitch. There was nothing to suggest that the other was none other than a human child, as he pulled the hat down from his face she noted his strange but stunning eyes, though having not met that many people she failed to note them as odd or out of the ordinary. His skin was a lot darker than her own latte colouration and she could just make out black hair peeking out of his hood. She always liked to size up everyone she met, it was the little details that often decided her victims, so in other words he had her attention. Especially whilst he held her prize possession! She had made that hat! It was hers!

She slowed as she saw the change in his body language. His fingers dug into the item and a wicked, all too familiar grin formed on his lips. A silent challenge was passed between them and she understood the rules right away. If she wanted her hat back, she would have to work for it. How did she know this? Because if she was in his position she would have done the exact same thing. She finally stopped, the hypothetical bell tolling to mark the start of round one. All the exercise meant she had forgotten how chilly it was, though this moment of silence soon reminded her, as she slowed down the icy wind tickled her face and she came to a halt. It was his move.

In one quick dart he was moving towards her, and she knew she had to commit to a movement. She jumped for the boy... and totally missed him. Instead she landed on the floor with a small 'umpth' and could do nothing as he ran past her and gained the lead. She sat up, spitting out the leaves that had collected on her face when it kissed the ground, she tasted dirt and maybe the slightest hint of blood. Orange eyes scanned the earth, and she caught sight of his unusual footprints. Maybe she could have accepted his strange eyes, but no human had feet like that, at least no human she had ever seen. The girl jumped up onto her feet and went after him, if she did not move fast she would loose sight of him and failure was not an option. In other words she had no time to contemplate who, or even what the boy actually was.

"Hey! Stop!" She could not think of anything witty to say, or any threat that might stop him in his tracks. So instead she just let him know she was coming after him, and determined to win the game. Never the less, he was a lot faster than she was. The Pumpkin Dust ducked under branches, jumped over roots and ran as fast as her newborn legs could carry her, but she would be silly not to admit he was gaining a larger lead. If it carried on like this she would exhaust herself before she got close. Her cheeks flushed a bright red, a mixture of fatigue and the cold autumn air.
