Any other mallet players here? Tells us your tips, experiences, what songs you know, or whatever else that relates to keyboard percussion.

When will the princess figure it out?
The biggest myth I like to try and dispel is that mallet percussion doesn't use the same techniques that other percussion instruments do. It's possible to tell the difference between a mallet player and another percussionist playing the instrument.
She ain't worth saving.

Yeah, I second the above comment, and would like to add that mallet technique actually can change slightly depending upon the desired sound or visual effects one is trying to achieve. This isn't even getting into four-mallet playing, which has three primary grips for certain playing styles and ranges.

Yeah, I do have to say that many non-musicians think that mallet playing is all about HIT THING HARD and that a xylophone is a toy that you give to a four year-old. It's much different.

1. I didn't think anyone else said malleteers biggrin this made me happy
2. Things to know. Firstly, do not throw the bells/glockenspiel or let them slide off of the vibes. Secondly, do not lose your vibe screw(three times...) , thirdly don't let the marimba string break. Andif it does... put a trshbag under the keys biggrin
3. Four mallets are insane and I hate them (I would actually love it if someone could give me helpful advice for 4 mallets >.< )
