We did the Veterans day parade yesterday. It's a very small parade with all the veterans that live in our city, my school's marching band, and all the local high school's JROCT. We had to be squished into one car lain so they didn't have to block off the road so I was standing in the gutter. So many people were standing in the gutter trying to get close to the parade. Now this wasn't a problem for the trumpet players and stuff behind me but my flute sticks out like a foot next to me. SO many people hit it and smacked me in the mouth! crying For the little kids i could just tilt it up a little but for the adults I couldn't do anything with out breaking formation and my section leader is a crazy nazi to me. I even almost hit a tree once because of how close we were to the side walk. I don't think I even played our march completely once because I kept getting hit or dodging people so much....

You're not alone (except we didn't play for veterans day). There's no one in our way, but people yell at us, and even throw stuff at us (they throw stuff at all he floats and walkers.) I even got a few pieces of candy in my trombone bell, which fell out at horns down of course.
