This place was a disaster. After the hurricane, there were mountains upon mountains of damage. It seemed like the storm had ripped apart the tiny world she called home with an almost ravenous glee. Everywhere she looked, homes were damaged. Fields torn apart. People in tears as they picked up the remains of their life and tried to start over. Tamara wondered if the Island was ever going to be the same.
Her eyes pondered the scenery with dispair. Having inherited her father's senses about the world, she knew just how badly it was injured. That was why she had come out today. To help others reclaim thier stuff, to help those who needed it, and to check on those through out the island who had not taken shelter. Pulling out her sheet of paper that had the names of Pae'il that people hadn't seen in a while, she gave a depressed sigh and sat down on a fallen tree branch. She had only found 1/3 of the people on her list.
Feeling completely useless, she gave into the tears that had been waiting for her since she had come out into this weather stripped land.

Sighing, the autumn angel picked up the largest of the smashed pumpkin rinds and tossed them towards the growing pile of vegetative matter. That's pretty much all it was anymore; there wasn't much to be salvaged in the way of food. He was increasingly thankful that he'd thought to take in the bulk of the harvest early before the storm hit, but he'd still lost quite a bit of potential foodstuffs. True, he primarily had to be concerned only with feeding himself, but...when he considered the possible scope of the damage, he didn't think he'd be the only one who would have to worry about having enough food stored for the coming seasons. If nothing else, he could trade the extra for any other supplies he might need.
The coming season could be a rough one.
Lugh straightened up, hands on his hips as he leaned back to stretch his back muscles, growing stiff from staying bent over in the same position for so long. Maybe he should take a break soon. It wasn't as if the debris were going anywhere without him. And he wasn't salvaging any food from this anyway. He would have a fantastic compost heap when this was all over, but for now, it wouldn't hurt to stay spread out for a little longer. He was about to head into his simple shack for a drink, already repaired for the most part, at least enough to keep any rain off his head for the time being, when a strange sound caught his ear. Frowning, he glanced about, calling, "Is someone there?"

Tamara quickly jerked her head up and looked around. She coud have sworn she heard something. Then again, she was in the middle of nowhere, so where had the sound come from? Not from the tangled woods or war-torn beach. She had just combed those places over this morning. The only place she hadn't looked yet was...the field!
Quickly standing, she gave her large green leaves a little flutter and wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. She gave the piece of paper she was holding another glance over and let loose a small smile. Maybe she was about to find one more on her list.
With that, she hurried off toward the field, her step a little lighter than before.

Tamara scaled the large hill with little diffuculty. She was in shape, and really? It wasn't much of a hill. It was more like a gradual incline that finished with a plateau. When she reached the top, she paused to catch her breathe, bending over to rest her palms on her legs. It was when she glanced up that her breathing problems began. In front of her was a field and in that field was a medium sized farm that was in a complete state of dishevel.
The plants were all but destroyed. The field was littered with broken fruit and vegetables. The plants, what few that hadn't been waterlogged and cut up from the storm, were uprooted and their produce strewn across the carefully designed rows like a paint spatter.
Though it looked like someone had been cleaning it up, she could tell that the job wasn't quite done yet and it broke her heart to see such dissarray amongst the land. The compost heap she could see on the south side of the broken plot of land was filled with what looked like debris from the farmland. She desperately hoped the farmer of this poor place had managed to save enough food and grain for the winter.
Looking back at her list, she crossreferenced the names with their occupation and last known location and came up with three names. With this knowledge, she garnered her courage, along with some bright spark from within, and headed toward the makeshift shack that looked like it had once been a small farmhouse.
"Excuse me?" she called out as she advanced on the backside of the slightly broken shelter. "I saw the farm and was wondering if you might be able to help me?"

The voice rang out from the backside of the shack that Lugh called 'home,' and he raised an eyebrow before going to meet this new stranger. He didn't get many, if any, visitors out here, but he was willing to do trade with those he did see from time to time. Still, he wasn't sure who might have much to trade right now.
"Hello?" he answered, peeking around the corner of his home towards the back, curious. And a curious sight it was that awaited him. A young woman with a braid, and large leaf-like wings spread behind her. She even had smaller wings, but more traditional angel-style, above her ears. How odd...but not in a bad way. He'd always heard that his own wings were rather striking, like the warm colors of the autumn leaves before they fell. Whether because of this, or perhaps it was the effect, rather than the cause, but he'd always felt more at home among nature. Somehow, he felt that this woman might be even more closely tied to nature than he.
He listened to her reply, pondering it over before answering. "I suppose. I mean, I'll do my best, as long as you aren't needing to hire a caterer," he joked, wiping his hands clean on a rag that he then tossed over his shoulder. Just in case she wanted to shake hands.

Tamara gave a small sigh of relief that the stranger had actually answered her. Goddess only knew how may pae she had had to retrieve and prove she wasn't going to harm them before they would even speak again.
"Oh. Well, no. I'm afraid I'm not." she answered, looking again over the names on her list. "I was actually wondering if you might do me a favor and tell me your name?" she asked him, coming around to his side of the shack and meeting him in the middle.
When she looked up, she let out a small breathe of air. This angel was the color of the land itself. Beautiful orange and red wings mixed in with leaves here and there. No wonder the farm had looked so nice and neat and was still somewhat healthy.

Hmm...odd way to make an introduction, but who was he to speak? "An easy enough favor, I suppose," he shrugged, smiling at the young woman. "Name's Lugh," he offered her his hand. "Don't get a lot of company out here, so, pleasure to meet such a nice, young lady. Would you mind if I asked you to return the favor?" Exchanging names was a typical introduction, even if this was a rather odd way to go about it.
He had to wonder though, what would have brought her out here in the first place? It couldn't be just to meet him. He didn't know many other Pae, not many recent visitors, so how would she have even known he was here? And she seemed to have an air of purpose about her, so it couldn't be completely by chance.
Then he noticed how she kept staring at something in her hands. Curious, he took a glance without trying to appear overtly obvious. "Err...I'm sorry if I'm being forward, but...what is that? I mean, I am a bit curious what brings a nice young lady out here today. You're not lost are you?"

Tamara gave a nervous giggle. "I'm sorry. I forget myself." Holding out a hand, she shook his firmly. "I'm Tamara. It is a pleasure to meet you!" she tittered, Following his eyes to her little pad of names.
"This?" she asked, curious that he was curious. "It's my checklist. I'm one of several people checking up on residents after the storm to make sure they aren't hurt or in need." she explained. Holding out the little pad of paper so that he could read the writing, she smiled again.
"See? your name is right here." She said with a point.

"Pleasure," he returned the gesture, noting that she had a firm grip for such a delicate looking female.
Curious...she was tracking down Pae from a list? Nevermind how difficult that had to be, only having names to go by, but with all the damage from the storm... Well, it was an admirable task to pursue. But...
He frowned, following her gesture towards the list. He didn't admit it, but he wasn't the best reader around. Oh, he could; it was just...it took him a little while sometimes. Fortunately, his name was pretty short. "Huh...so it is, apparently. Wonder who knew I was even out here? Or even knew me by name," he muttered aloud.
"So, who is it that you're doing this for?" he questioned, simply curious at this point. Was there some sort of new organization of Pae or something in the area? Or just well-meaning folks? "And what's the plan if you do find someone who's hurt or in need of some other kind of help?"

Tamara gave Lugh a another brilliant smile. "I believe your name was added to the list by someone who..." she paused to flip through a couple pages, then gave one of the pages an entusiastic poke. "and I quote 'smashed his pumpkins and got a reaming'. Whatever that means. " she turned back to Lugh, the smile still in place as he asked his next question.
"It's actually not one person or a specefic group. Pae have been coming to the recent settlings and asking about people. So a bunch of us decided to compile the names and hunt down these loved one for numerous reasons." she explained, tucking the small notebook back into her bag.
"If someone is hurt, or frightened, or just doesn't want to be found, I handle it. I'm trained in first aid, and have had a large amount of practice dealing with pae who are traumatized or scared." she said. She didn't mention that the main person she had had experience in dealing with was her very own mother.

Tamara shrugged. "Besides, I've only had to deal with a broken bone and mildly sprained wrist so far. It's actually been a little easier than I thought. Other than all the walking." she explained, a small chuckle at the end. She had walked over half the island by now. It wasn't easy, but she got the pleasure out of helping people.
"So. I can mark you off, like so." She gave her checklist a little mark and turned back to Lugh. "Next step is to ask if you need any help. Whatever it may be, feel free to ask."

Lugh chuckled slightly at the explanation. "Ah, I see. Well, that explains a lot, I suppose." He wouldn't admit he didn't even know the kid's name that he'd chased off for that. Perhaps he wasn't such a bad kid afterall, if he'd remembered and worried enough to have someone come out here and check on him.
He scratched his head. "Yeah, no serious problems like that here. I've just got a lot of cleaning up to do, but that's going to take a while, so you really don't need to worry about it. I'm sure there's still plenty of others out there who might need your help. Property damage is nothing next to possible injuries," he rationalized. Sure, he had his work cut out for him, but it was a job that was going to take a while, and he didn't mind so much in the end. He wouldn't prevent help from finding someone who really needed it, that was for sure.
