What do you mean by "catch weapons in a grapple instead of dodging"?

one could catch the weapon in the spaces of the claws instead of evading and "grapple" the weapon.

So you can block, which you can do with every weapon? Unless you actually have formula for grappling in this case.

It's more about catching the weapon instead of just blocking the strike neutral

I was intending it to be you could elect to grapple the weapon instead of dodging it by catching the blade.

sort of a visual so you can see (its a rather large picture -.-'):

imbetween the spaces one would be able to catch a sword or spear and such (anything small/mid sized really) and hold it there.

I agree that it should be classified as grappling a weapon, but I think there should be a check to see if you succefully grappled it.

Its intended as if you win your dodge roll you can instead grapple the weapon.

You would still need a grapple check, would you not? Just because you were able to not get hit by something doesn't necessarily mean that you were able to grapple the weapon as well. If the person is able to get it out of the way fast enough then it wouldn't be grappled. I like the concept of it but, I believe it would still need the grapple check. Just my thoughts on it.

much like Cheers clan technique you would forgoe dodging and replace it with something else. In this case, catching the weapon instead of dodging the strike.

Oh okay. That makes a bit more sense to me. I thought you meant something else. Alright +1.

I've been meaning to get to this for a while...

A grapple is very system specefic, and just beating a dodge will not allow you to grapple someone under our rules. Unless there is also something special about this weapon which I am not seeing, there is nothing stopping someone from pulling back and removing their weapon from the space between claws.
