So back in my high school days, I got to have a pretty neat fall job experience: I worked as an actor in a haunted house at my local theme park. Best of all, I got to do it with one of my close HS friends.

After working that job, though, I honestly didn't ever want to do it again, nor would I ever recommend any teenager/young adult to take the job if they had the chance to.

Here's why: before you pay to go into those haunted houses, you need to examine yourself first. You need to figure out what kind of person you turn into when you're scared. Do you just jump and scream? Do you laugh? Is it just a fun rush?

Or, do you happen to be one of those people who gets angry when you're scared? If you are, you might have the potential to actually assault the person who scared you; pushing, punching, choking, even biting them.

If you are the latter person, even if you don't want to admit it, please take this following advice: SPARE HAUNTED HOUSE ACTORS FROM DEALING WITH YOU BY NEVER GOING INTO A HAUNTED HOUSE ATTRACTION. And really, spare yourself from actually assaulting someone in the first place, let alone dealing with going to court for doing so.

Please, I'm totally serious. Besides, why put yourself into that situation if part of you knows that you'll only get angry and attack whatever it is that's scaring you? Why do that to yourself and the people you paid to scare you? Makes little sense.

If you're the latter, just sit at home and watch a scary movie. Yell at the screen, take your anger out on people you cannot touch, and enjoy yourself without punching someone who's doing the job you willingly paid them to do.

To everyone else: have fun! I had to get that out because every time this holiday comes around, I get that frustrated feeling knowing there's people who do this, and others who suffer from it.

But really, have fun. And do everyone a favor: keep your hands to yourself in a haunted house.

I went to a haunted house last year and got chased by a guy with a chainsaw.
Granted the chain wasn't on it but he was chasing me and revving it.
Needless to say after being freaked out he got decked in the face when he snuck up on me.
Almost broke his nose....
It isn't nice to sneak up on scared people. D:

That's what the actors get paid to do: they scare you. x3

EDIT: But maybe next time you'll know that it's not a very good idea for you to go in a haunted house, haha.

Some people go into those houses for a laugh, or to watch their friends get scared. x3

Still, some people are easily scared and startled.

True but when someone is having a very visible panic attack you shouldn't provoke them.
I was away from everything and he still pushed it.
Since he did something that dumb I really don't feel bad for it because he didn't use good judgement.

Then if you feel it's justified, you don't need to prove it to me. xD It doesn't change my mind about people who subject themselves to being scared when they have the potential to hurt someone in the process. My point still stands.

My dad used to put on a haunted house in our front yard. There were adults that even peed themselves. His joints hurt him when setting up so instead we take our college group to pre-civil war cemetary. In between the segragations there is a park with hiking trails. We lead people through there and scare them. It's a family tradition. One of my friends has been three times and has been scared everytime. Sometimes my dad does a lesson on fear afterwards.

That sounds pretty neat!

I probably won't be going into any haunted houses this year. Most of them use fog machines, and I hate the smell of artificial fog. x x lol

I don't think I've ever seen someone react angrily to the sort of "scary" that you'd find in a horror film or a haunted house. That must be actually terrifying to deal with, people going berserk on you like that. Geez. eek
