The male was currently lounging, his eyes closed, listening to all of the sounds around him. Some kits were being told a story, their mothers talking to each other, but nothing particularly interesting was happening. Perhaps he should take a nap.

He supposed that there were better things he could be doing, hunting, or patrolling, but the AutumnWind was indulging in a rare bit of doing nothing. Especially since he knew that he wouldn't be able to do it for very long. Even if no one interrupted him, he couldn't afford to allow himself to indulge for too long. He might get lazy, or fat, and then what sort of an example would he be. There were kits, and soon they would be apprentices, and since he was hoping to mentor one, he didn't want to gain a reputation for lazyness.

He'd never be able to live it down.

Ivypaw, after being dragged cursing and hissing out of her bedding that morning for dawn patrol had gone hunting afterwards, though it was mostly a good bout of standing on a hill a good distance from anyone cursing everyone around her and the stupid morning and the stupid sun and the crow kissing ShadowClanners that were trespassing because they scented those dirt chewing fox faced cretins on patrol.

Basically, it was Ivypaw being Ivypaw.

Her hunting trip had caught a nice rabbit that would do good to feed the elders or the kits, but it could have been much better if it was half crushed and had been killed with it's neck snapped, not a cracked skull and a broken back. She needed to learn to control herself when charging after prey, honestly. She'd never say it aloud, but she wouldn't argue with the point if it was brought up.

Oh no, she'd just grumble like and angry badger for the next few hours and eye you like a tick she'd just pulled from her pelt. If she ever had a tick, that is.

Mumbling foully around her mouthful of mangled rabbit, she came prowling, nearly stomping, into camp, tail lashing in perpetual irritation. Even if she wasn't being particularly foul or openly angry at the moment, she still made quite the scene, her mumbling more than a enough to disturb anyone around her.

There was a reason she wasn't allowed within two tail lengths of the nursery at any given time.

AutumnWind's ear twitched, hearing the sounds of the apprentice complaining up a storm. It was a familiar sound, and he almost ignored it, knowing that it was Ivypaw and nothing unusual. Unfortunently, if he could hear it, it was likely the kits could as well.

So much for a nap.

He yawned, and then stood up, stretching out before moving over towards Ivypaw. He'd never admit it, but he rather liked the outspoken apprentice. "Are you fussing about anything in particular or did you just wake up on the wrong side of the den this morning?"

Having stopped by the fresh kill pile, she promptly dropped her downed prey and turned smartly to face who was addressing her, her tail still waving about, though perhaps a bit less sharply.

Ivypaw scrutinized the warrior before her, pale green eyes narrowing. Black, brown, and white pelt, orange eyes, and a distinct voice that gave her the impression he'd been dozing before she'd interrupted, for which she could safely say she felt no guilt.

"What do you think, Autumnwind?" She half hissed, her usual tone of aggression and disgruntlement apparent, though no more uptight than usual, at the very least.

AutumnWind chuckled. "I think it's just your nature. He stretched, his ears twitching. "Why don't we spar, apprentice? See if a youngin' like you can take down an oldtimer like me."

He was provoking her a bit, figuring that that would be the easiest way to lean her into a more productive state. It'd be good for him too, if she accepted, you never learned more about fighting than when you were teaching. If she didn't want to, well, that was alright too. He was sure there were a few other things he could distract her with.
