Lady Gaga - Judas

Lots of biblical symbolism in this music video.
I know a lot of people were in a rage when this song came out.

Figured this would make a good kind of different discussion...

What do you think she means?
Like the song?
Is it bad or blasphemous?
Your thoughts?

Well here you have it straight from the horses mouth, she isn't meaning it as an attack on religion.

Another article to prove a point.

I also remember looking at a documentary about the song...
She is referring Judas to her cheating boyfriend who she still has feelings for but doesn't want to go back to so she clings to Jesus. Something like that argh I wish I could find that video =/

Anyway I see nothing wrong with it.
I actually like the song, yes she used biblical references but you know what BIG DEAL. She is not mocking it or being blasphemous.
and she isn't offending me in any way either.

I can see why people are getting a tad butthurt over the song but I think they just need to get off the high horse and take a deep breath.

Quote:
I'm just a holy fool, oh baby it's so cruel
But I'm still in love with Judas, baby

If she were holy, she wouldn't be in love with Judas, lol. That's an oxymoron. Holy = set-apart from the common, dedicated solely for YHWH's purposes, indicating 100% loyalty, nothing less. lol It's not a "cruel" thing to be holy, 100% loyal to YHWH's ways, 100% devoted to serving him and him only.

Quote:
Even prophets forgave his crooked way

That's just a lie.

No one forgave Judas. Jesus himself said it would have been better if Judas were never born (Mt 26:23-24). I think she's muddying up definitions and biblical concepts. When it came out, I didn't really care—and still don't—because I've come to expect nothing less from the entertainment industry. They glorify gossip, lies, disunity, pettiness, man-on-man vengeance (instead of leaving it up to YHWH), they don't uphold biblical standards for interacting with creation at all. It wouldn't make for great television if they did; if everyone is getting along, living in harmony, respecting each other, living obediently, no sexual scandals, no one would tune in, lol. People want to watch conflicts develop and see how they get resolved (or shall I say, more convoluted) or they want to see everyone die. Even religious movies get the details wrong or add urban legends to it ([»], @ 0:28 mark; you know they'll be addressing the legends, not just the scriptural). Since the God of this age is Satan—and he has been given dominion over the Earth—it's no surprise that the entertainment industry wreaks of his mark: twisted-truth (lies) & unholiness. (2 Cor 4:4, Jn 8:44, 12:31, 1 Jn 5:19)

The entertainment industry doesn't treat much of anything with respect. It's all "fair game" for the sake of a thrill or a laugh. So, yeah, I would say it's blasphemy. Am I surprised/shocked? no.

To give another example of something holy that has been profaned in the entertainment industry: the ark of the covenant. Not only do they portray it wrong in the movies (with the poles at the sides and angels on the lid; angels sitting on YHWH's throne is blasphemy), but they leave it out in the open for all to see. The actual ark could not be glanced upon (nor even touched directly or else you would die [1 Chr 13:10] ), so it was transported under animal skins and a blue cloth, carried only by the Kohathites, no one else could do it (Num 4:4-6). Yet, Indiana Jones gives us this:
