Roll an Eleven: Canyon Field: The canyon walls towers high towards the ceiling while the ground sinks downwards several levels, making the top and bottom of the field very difficult to see without special equipment. The cliff faces are very steep with little ridge support for grabbing and climbing; on top of that, the rock faces are very damp which makes grabbing and holding on very difficult. A few skinny trees and roots jut out from the cliff and allow smaller, nimbler pokemon to grab and swing around. At the very bottom of the canyon’s long drop is a deep pool of water. Keeping up is difficult for trainers on this particular battlefield, so stadium officials have set up a special view screen on each of the trainer platforms. A mini camera will follow your pokemon around while it battles (of course, it’s programmed to back off when a pokemon does an attack) and the view screen will enable trainers to issue commands to their companions via microphone. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to FLYING and ROCK type attacks.

Lyle trotted out onto the battlefield and looked at the canyon. It could be a tricky field to fight on, but that wouldn't stop the pokemon that would be battling today. He tossed out a pokeball, releasing Hematite who hovered in front of him momentarily.

Spinel was perched on Lyle's head, and he winced sympathetically when the Archen's teeth closed around Hematite. That move hurt.
Lyle didn't want his pokemon to get another hit like that if possible. "Hematite, stop her in her tracks with Ice Punch," he called.
Hematite oozed out of Akantha's jaws and reformed in the air in front of the Archen. Then part of her smoke collected into a ball off to one side, vaguely reminiscent of a mittened hand in a fist. It began to glow blue as she hurled the ball at her opponent.

Akantha ducked and the ball of ice soared over her head. As soon as it was clear she darted forward to Crunch again.

Hematite flinched as the toothy beak clamped onto her. That really hurt! She seeped out of Akantha's grip again, forming another mist-fist of ice before shooting it at the Archen.

This time Hematite saw the attack coming and was able to phase out of the way. She scooted back to put a bit of distance between herself and her opponent before forming another ball of icy mist and firing it at the Archen. Hematite tried to shift away again, but was too slow and was once more clamped in the Archen's jaws. This was not a trend she liked. She shifted out as quickly as she could, then fired of her attack again, hoping that her track record with that would change, at least.
