The atmosphere on the embassy grounds is quite naturally festive, weaving through the crowd are vendors selling the traditional, brightly colored Aurentine sweetcakes offered to both the living and the dead during Parentalia as well as white orchids.
At one of the outer edges of the plaza, a group of Aurentine nuns softly sings hymns to Destra's Eternal Flame as they collect donations for a local orphanage.
Those close to the center of the Gardens might have noticed a long, low wooden stage standing before the statue of Aubeline. Small cloth banners hang from the front of it, and two large lanterns hang on either side.
Two pretty young women, twins it seems, bustle about the stage, their long, colorful skirts swishing about their legs as they move. Their motions are fluid, like those of well-practiced dancers.
With a mischievous glance toward the crowd beginning to gather in anticipation of a performance, the two young women motion behind them and seemingly from nowhere an eerily pleasant tune begins to play.
The two begin to sway gracefully in time with the music, dancing in nearly perfect unison before beginning an impressive acrobat tumbling act, flying across the stage in a beautifully synchronized embrace.
The growing crowd cheers and crows at each feat of strength and agility, clearly enthralled by the two young women.

Atena didn't get out of the tea shop often. But this was one of the rare occasions where no one could keep her from going out. Not even Artemis trying to curl up on her. Everything about the Parentalia celebration in Bande reminded her of times long past, and made her smile. Even with the news going through the papers about the earthquake. Circe accompanied her that night, keeping an eye on her...just in case. And...oh! It seemed they'd arrived just in time for dancers!
Atena stopped as Circe did, the humanoid-form guardian noticing someone. "Is something the matter, Circe?" The green-haired woman shook her head.
"No. I just see one of our number." Atena smiled and let the guardian go off while she set down a little folding seat and occupied it to enjoy the dancing. And Circe made her way over to Ainsley, nodding to the young woman once she caught up. "Not enjoying yourself?"

Ishi was about to walk towards the white tent when she was attracted by the sound of different music than what she had been hearing. She looked over to see two girls, twins from the looks of it, dancing. "Hey Ari, look. Acrobats," she smiled to the girl. "Lets go watch."Her real interest, well she did want to see the dancers but, her goal was to get Ari more comfortable in crowds. Maybe more open air even with more people would help. Plus less drunks were nearby. She took the girl's hand and walked/slightly pulled her towards the large stage. She watched in amazement as the girls did all sorts of tricks. "Wow, if I tried that stuff I'd fall on my head," she chuckled.

Ari gulped as she was lead toward the bigger crowd. At least it was out in the open.
"....they look fun.."
She watched a little more, taking some deep breathes to settle her anxiety. It wasn't that bad, except the crowd was getting bigger.
"...but I thought you could balance on a thread, silk spinner."

"More like count thread more than balance it. At least when making good cloth," she smirked at Ari. Another talent of Ishi's thanks to her family trade was recognizing thread count in cloth. She could tell very soft cloth verses hard coarse cloth, which was harder than it appeared.
"Come Ari, don't you wish you could fly through the air with the greatest of ease?" she looked to the girl then had a thought. "Hey, that gives me an idea. We can enjoy the show and maybe you will feel more comfortable. Come on."
Ishi pushed through the crowd with her usual confidance and headed for a tree. She climbed up to a branch then held her hand out to Ari, "Come on. We can watch it from here and not even be in the cloud. Or are you afraid of crowded trees filled with birds?" Insert s**t eating grin here.

".......I see you haven't heard from your northern cousins then. It is said they count and balance on the thread, silly silk spinner."
Ari is pulled along as she thought back on Ishi's last words. It would be nice to fly, high above everyone. She blinks as she comes back to reality to Ishis's words.
"Silk spinner.......never threaten a trickster with a climbing tree..."
With a smile, Ari then shimmed up the tree quickly as a squirrel and quiet as a mouse. She sat on the bigger branch above Ishi.
"Your right silk spinner, the view here is way better then on the ground."

With a final twirl and tumble the two young women complete their routine.
From each of their open hands fly small capsules which land throughout the audience.
Plumes of colorful smoke shoot up where the capsules fell, almost seeming to glow as they curl past the lanterns that hang overhead. The smoke twists and lingers in spite of the growing breeze, obscuring the stage from view as the audience cheers and chatters, awaiting the next act promised by the continuation of the music.
To most there is nothing unusual about the scene, the festival's jubilation always an odd contrast to the ostensible reason for the celebration.
But to the more trained eye, and the most attuned senses, something is...off, the smoke almost too thick, the music almost frenzied behind the stage, and a strange, unfamiliar odor is just barely detectable on the breeze, mixing with food and incense on the wind.
One might almost say that they saw figures in the smoke, twisting and writhing to the sound of the music, but then pareidolia isn't an uncommon phenomena, particularly in ever shifting forms of a smoke cloud.
You cannot tell if the performers remain onstage or have vanished in the smoke, but it is clear that this is not the end of the evening's entertainment.

What seemed like it would not be the end of the show was soon proven to be otherwise. As the smoke began to fade, a woman dressed as if she was part of the group the dancers belonged to made her way on stage. "I'm afraid we must disappoint, everyone. Our next act took a bit of a tumble. I do hope you enjoyed the dance, however, and enjoy the rest of the celebration!" With flourished bow, the woman made her way off-stage as quickly as she'd arrived, to the disappointed grumbles of on-lookers. It seemed entertainment would have to be found elsewhere.
