Honestly, when I bought Dawnguard, I did some serious research on the pros and cons of becoming a vampire or a member of the Dawnguard.
When my youngest brother became a Vampire Lord, I thought it was pretty balling. Unfortunately, I did not get to see my other brother utilize the perks of being a Dawnguard, so I assumed that it sucked (even though my reserach said otherwise).
Now I highly regret becoming a vampire. Wish I would have joined the Dawnguard! I feel bad feeding on human cattle, and my eyes make me look like a fool. I hate the sun damage, and the perks aren't even that grand (using vampiric powers slips my mind when I'm in battle). Can anyone else concur?

I believe the Vampire questline is better than the Dawnguard questline. I'm not a fan of being a Vampire Lord, though, especially when my character isn't Magicka based.
The Vampire Lord perks, in my opinion, are ten times harder to gain than werewolf perks, but the werewolf perks don't really make sense to me. When I go werewolf, I just hack away with my claws. Actually, I prefer staying human because I don't have to back track to make sure I got all the items/gold I wanted off of the dead bodies.
Other than all that, I'm not much of a fan for either vampires or Dawnguard. But I do find those vampire eyes very amazing, unlike what you think.

I've also never liked being a werewolf, either. Like you, I have never enjoyed having to back-track and collect corpses' items.
Having said that, I can agree that the Vampire questline is much more interesting based on what I have read, but it seems a lot longer.
What is your stance on the sun damage issue?

The Dawnguard questline is a lot longer with the side quests added.
It's also harder to kill a Vampire than Dawnguard because Dawnguard get up in your face where as the vampire's can magicka you.
I don't pay mind to the sun damage. Some times I'm stronger in the sun and other times I'm weaker. I don't really understand it, but it doesn't bother me one bit.

I played both sides - my mage as a vampire and my melee character as a werewolf/dawnguard. I think they're pretty well balanced.
I liked playing the vampire questline more, and liked the design of the castle more.
In the end it's pretty 50/50. Personal opinion could swing it either way.

But the Dawnguard are more difficult for me to kill because my primary (and, really, my only) weapon is my bow. So, when they are all in my face, it's difficult for me to pull my arrows back quickly enough before they can strike.

I'm not gonna lie, I chose Dawnguard at first because I liked the armor.

Fuhrer Bacoln I'm not gonna lie, I chose Dawnguard at first because I liked the armor. I didn't like either set of armor. I stuck to my Dark Brotherhood nonsense.

When Hearthfire came out, I decided to start collecting armor for all of my mannequins. I also don't use quest armor. I tend to get my smithing up and go with Daedric or Dragon. This playthrough, I'm going Daedric because I've always used dragon.
Also, the only reason for using quest armor is if you're a low level, juggernaut (lots of health), or ranged player (not getting hit and stationing yourself in a place where you can only use ranged attacks).
Also, with just using your bow, try to get atronachs out then switch to your bow. This is where favorites come in. On my former mage/first vamp. lord, I was a conjurer and archer. Dual casted atronachs then casted my bpw.

I have to admit, though, that Daedric armor looks pretty fine. I'm a ranged and a juggernaut player, so I suppose I have more use for quest armors than most.

I don't care for the vampire lord form because to me the controls are a little difficult to get used to, and for me it's not easy to switch back and forth. But as for the storyline of the quest, I love it. And it doesn't matter which team you join because the outcome is pretty much the same. *cough*
