The grosbeak was lovely.
heart I think one of my mystery birds might be related to your grosbeak. (in the finch family.) It has the same beak, and body shape except it's legs are a bit sturdier and he is brown/tan with spots and speckles.
That's a horrible description.
sweatdrop I hope this picture helps a bit.

This is NOT the mystery bird. This is a Puerto Rican Nightjar. (
Caprimulgus noctitherus )
But the colors, spots and speckles are quite similar to the mystery bird's. I have yet to see one of these (nightjar) in person. I explore a bit every time I go to the beach and I venture into the dry forest, but I usually don't stray far. I don't think it wise to get lost midst cactii, Gumbo-limbo trees, and wasps.
I did however manage to see (and hold) for the first time in my life a juvenile Puerto Rican Crested Toad. (
Peltophryne lemur) I know It seems silly to make a big deal over it but you see, they are native and critically endangered. It was very small. About the size of the distal segment of my pinky but I was amazed. My mother, sister and I had to be careful when walking so as to not step on them.
While on one of my adventures I made friends with a Spotted Sea Hare (
Aplysia dactylomela ) that was munching on petticoat algae. I nicknamed him Bubbles.
emotion_kirakira Looks like I got into other members of the animal kingdom.
redface Sorry about that. I'm extremely long winded.
Do you have any idea about who my mystery bird could be?
