Okay so, I am not Catholic but, can someone tell me how Biden and Pelosi etc .. can claim to be such great Catholics and be so radical on abortion. I am not trying to start an argument. I am asking, isn't abortion COMPLETELY against the teachings of the Catholic Church? Also, isn't Gay Marriage against the teachings? They say now 58% of Catholics support Gay Marriage. Can someone tell me where I am confused?

A Catholic spoke to me and some others about this last week.

The statistics they're getting are usually from calling people on the phone for those silly political surveys. The only problem is that someone can technically be a part of the Catholic church, but not be a practicing Catholic.

So when you get these people calling and asking, "Are you a Catholic?" and getting yeses and nos from people who haven't been to Mass for years, or perhaps say they're Catholic but have never had their confirmation and communion, the surveys are not entirely accurate after a while.

I guarantee most of that 58% are Catholics who are either not practicing, or they just associate themselves with Catholicism through family. In which case, the latter doesn't make them Catholic. x3

At least that's what was explained to me by a very devout Catholic. A Catechist to be exact.
