I need role players for a forum experiment. Our guild is full or skilled writers and players, but I believe there is an inherent flaw in the traditional RP structure. Even though a plot or premise is often given, the whole thing is left open ended. Rules are not solid or enforced well, and the thing usually flounders, either from real life issues beyond anyone's control, or people getting caught up in mundane aspects of the story and killing the momentum. Also, the "combat" or social interaction in the traditional RP is colored by individual's egos and personal views on how the story should be told. Don't get twisted, I'm probably more guilty of this than most people, but that's what this is for. A way to combat the self-destructive nature, the stagnation that open-ended RPs suffer from.

So, this RP is going to do things differently. It will use a format inspired by the Dungeons and Dragons game-play structure.

I will give a setting, a story with a cohesive plot, clear objectives to reach, and a deadline. This RP will only last a specific amount of time that I will allot, and the progress and outcome of the story will be determined by the participation level of those involved. I will have a character active in the story only to help set the pace.

Alright. First, the plot. An eccentric, intergalactic nobleman has kidnapped a collection of skilled warriors from the corners of space, and imprisoned them on a gigantic space station. The instillation is in a decaying orbit around an aggressive gas giant and is in a state of massive disrepair. The combatants must fight to the death until only one is left standing. At that point only, the villain will unlock the ONE remaining escape pod. The combatants have six weeks to fight it out before the station falls into the planet's atmosphere and is crushed into nothing, including anything and anyone inside.

Got it? Good. Now, rules of the game.

One:
Do not join this RP if you are not absolutely sure you can consistently reply on a pretty much daily basis. The pace is going to be quick and things will happen rapidly. No mundane crap like going to a restaurant or sitting in a class or something. It will be breakneck speed, high-octane action from the get go. No lollygaggin.

Two: You will have free roam of the station. The station is massive with lots of areas like labs, markets, atriums, and docking bays to do battle in. Now, I'm putting my trust in the awesome role players we have in this guild, so all I ask is that your character seek out others to fight. That's the point of this thing. You wander around aimlessly and don't fight, then you will die a horrifying death with no honor, no chance for escape, nothing. You will be plunged into the crushing gravity of a nameless gas giant in the a**-end of nowhere and be forgotten like a bad 80's song. Nobody, especially the amazing characters this guild is capable of creating, deserves to die like that.

Three: A word on combat. There will not be back and forth, reply, wait, reply again combat. When you come across another character, you will be in a fight. There is no challenging, no declining, no backing out. You have no choice but to fight, and fight you will. Now, when you encounter another character, you both will roll the dice with the post where you encounter the character. You can make some cool dialogue if you want, or say you are sneaking up on them, something riveting. Whoever rolls the higher number will be the winner of the fight. No back and forth between you and the other player, you roll and hope your number is higher. When you both roll, I will post with a brief, action-packed description of the fight, and announce the winner. Don't worry, I will make you both look good, no matter who wins, unless you try to get out of the encounter. If you try to do something like ignore the encounter or run away, or not post with a dice roll, you're character will die by the other's hand, and you'll go out like a b***h. And you won't be able to argue. You were warned. Also, you can't complain if you lose. That's the game. It's decided by chance, so you can't argue. And there will be no mercy. The villain will only tolerate one survivor, and there is only ONE means of escape. No working together to figure out a way, no showing mercy. You are a survivor and your only choice is to kill or be killed. And if no one fights, you all die anyway. This is to make sure the story does not stagnate and grind to a halt. The goal is non-stop action from start to finish. I'm putting my trust in the players, and I know you won't let me down.

Alright, I'm going to go ahead and set the number of players at twelve. This will give room to move around and still keep the pace going without overwhelming anyone. I will have a character so that means I need eleven more. And don't get you're panties knotted. My character will receive no special treatment. If he loses a fight, he will be dead and out of the RP, just like everyone else. In fact, I hope he gets killed early, that way I can focus on the admin' of the rest of the RP.

Post your profile's here. You should give data, a brief back-story, describe the character's abilities (and be fairly descriptive, so I can make them look really cool when they fight) and a picture if possible. This is a Sci-Fi setting, so they need to fit that. Aliens, cyborgs, androids, space-marines, merc's; that sort of thing.

Sweet. I have faith in all of you, so lets get eleven good role players in here and see if this works out like I hope it will. If it does, then we may have found a way to avoid the dreaded "dead RP" condition.

LETS DO THIS!!!!!!! scream scream

Name: Durack Va-Nuski

Race: Grugan

Home Planet: Hunigan 7

Bio: The Grugan people are a race of warm-blooded, reptilian bipeds that evolved on a volatile, hostile world circling the blue giant star Hunigan. The savage environment of their planet forced them to evolve powerful healing and regenerative abilities of reptiles, and their culture developed into a feudal, warrior society that values strength and honor in battle. Despite the unfavoured conditions, their inelegance and resourcefulness allowed them to develop advanced, energy based technology. When they discovered space travel, the Grugan race went on a conquest rampage, colonising and conquering planet after planet and experiencing a population boom after being freed from their hostile home world. The Grugan Wars were long and brutal, and only ended after a visionary warlord sought peace and an end to the bloodshed. A treaty was drafted and signed, with the Grugan agreeing to only colonise planets that were otherwise uninhabitable by less robust species. In return, they would offer their services of war and medicine to the galactic society. Durack is a noble, and talented even among his own people.

Combat: The Grugan have advanced tech, however their society is feudal, and their healing factors meant that fire-arm based combat was never a practical issue for them. Their need for honor and glory led them to favour melee based combat, with their tech used to create tough armor, shields, and weapons. Durack uses a shield and short sword, with light armor, as his body can sustain a great amount of damage before he is seriously injured. Grugans are notoriously hard to kill and feared throughout the galaxy for their toughness, ferocity in combat, and their intimidating appearance, looking like humanoid raptors in Roman armor.

Genetic Abilities: Healing factor, speed, reflexes, physical strength, and has claws, prehensile tail and teeth, making him dangerous even if he is disarmed.
