Name: Rian-chan Name of Cat: LostClaw (previously RaggedSpots) Gender: Male Reply: Lightning lit the cloud blackened sky and thunder boomed so loud that the ground shook beneath my paws. This night was not one to be caught out on but I had no choice. A rogue band of dogs had been snooping about too close to camp and the leader had sent myself, as deputy, and a few others out to make sure that they weren't lurking too close during the night.
Canine stench was thick as my patrol headed around the next building. Just in front of us stood three large dogs. Gathered around what looked to be a very unlucky rogue or kittypet. The limp feline was grasped and shook and then tossed into the air and caught by another one of the dogs in the group. A toy. A sick churning began in my belly as I took in the scene and my fur bristled. I turned to look at my patrol, any one of our clanmates could have been that cat. Something had to be done about the dogs, tonight. "We will end this savagery here. Tonight. Bloodclan warriors are strong and we back away from no battle that will affect the safety of our clanmates. Ready yourselves friends, we must win this fight at any cost."
I saw the solid determination set into the eyes of my fellow warriors. Yes, they would fight til the death if that is what it took. With a flick of my tail I unleashed my patrol upon the three canines. The battle was a blur of claws, fur, fangs and blood. Screeches and barking, growling and hissing. It was chaotic and the only thing I was sure of was that at least one dog had fallen to my warriors but I knew that at least one of my warriors had gone down with it.
I pivoted on my hind paws as a dog came up behind me but I was too late. I felt the jaws clamp down on my back and I went limp in an attempt to confuse the dog into dropping me. Instead he shook me, just as he had shook the other dead cat. I felt my skin being torn, my blood running freely down my sides. Then, I was flying, he had tossed me into the air like a kit does with a mouse. I landed hard on the ground, the thud audible even over the thunder and then I felt the dog sniffing at me. I swatted at him with what strength I had left and managed to catch his eye. At least now he was somewhat blinded, I knew this was probably my last battle, no cat could bleed this much for very long before they left the realm of the living. I clawed at the dog again and again, my strength waning with each blow. Finally the dog retaliated and managed to clamp his jaws down on my right front paw. His bite was strong and I yowled in agony as he severed several toes.
Suddenly the dog was bowled over and I watched as three of my warriors finished him off but my vision was fading to black and before any of them could turn to see me I drifted off into a place where I was neither living nor dead. I stayed this way for what must have been days because when I came to my senses I was in a metal prison and there were two-legs all over. I no longer had my collar and I was wrapped in bandaged though not the kind a medicine cat would have used. I was sore all over and the pain was agonizing but I was alive. I still don't recall how I came to be in the cage but I do remember biding my time, allowing the two-legs to nurse me back to health, then one day they opened my cage to refill my bowls of food and water and I took my chance. I darted out onto the slippery floor and escaped through a door that had been propped open. I ran for quite a distance before I stopped to take in my surroundings. Nothing was familiar but I was determined to get back to my clan.
Now I wander the streets on my own, searching for the rest of my Bloodclan kin. I wonder if they have replaced me as deputy or if they are out here somewhere searching for me as well. It's been two moons since I escaped the two-legs captivity and I am just now catching whiffs of my fellow clanmates on the breeze that sweeps through the city. With any luck I will find them soon and be welcomed home to my clan. I wonder what happened to the rest of the warriors that were on patrol with me that night, how many lived? How many died? How long has it really been since that night? These questions burn in my mind and give me the energy I need to keep searching. Hopefully soon I will have the answers I seek.
