Vidya was bored. If there was one thing someone like Vidya wasn't meant to be, it was bored. In fact, she was so bored that she had flopped herself upside down over one of the couches in the stationary store; her back was on the seat with her arms stretched out over the cushions, her legs were on the backrest with her knees slightly bent over the top, and her head was bent bakwards over the edge. Naturally she was giving herself a most unpleasant headrush (she was slowly turning purple instead of red, thanks to her skin colour), but at the same time, seeing the stationary store upside down was more than enough to make up for it.
That, and she got to see just how clean Linneas kept the store. She was jealous, because her room certainly wasn't that clean. Not with Adonis in the same room and her usual lack of willpower to slow down and dust anyway. Maybe she could get Linny to dust her room for her! Most likely not, but nobody ever said she couldn't try, dangit!
So, why was someone like Vidya stuck seemingly by herself in a seemingly empty stationary store, looking at the world upside down? Well, while her wanderlust was poking at her, the urge to come to the store and meet people was just a little stronger; she'd been cooped up by herself for a while, and solitude was starting to wear thin. From previous experience, she knew that coming to the stationary store usually meant meeting new people or the same people she used to know that have changed since they were labeled as 'new people' or 'friends'...so she came to the store. That was two and a half hours ago.
She was only starting to give up waiting and go home. But only starting. In fact, the thought only now crossed her mind! Thank you, stubborn persona!

Maravilha was not entertained. At least, he didn't seem to be entertained. His 'mother' had decided that they were going to roam around the city and go shopping, and since she didn't trust the other boys to watch him, that meant he got to go with her. It had been such a short time since he'd appeared with her at all, but he was already growing annoyed with being carted around like a babe. Of course, these weren't really conscious thoughts, per se - being as he was too young to form such complex, emotional thoughts. It was really more of an annoyed feeling that kept bugging him - until he'd finally actually whined and wriggled until Jadaria let him down.
He was grumpier now, though, since his legs, long as they may have been for his age, were beginning to ache. She'd promised him that he'd get to sit down and rest soon, though, so he was following along as best he could.
He wasn't sure if he liked this whole 'city' thing, though. Too many people - and they were looking at him! Unlike a normal toddler, the poor boy did notice these things - and while, again, his thought patterns weren't complex enough to know why, he DID know that he didn't like it. So more often than not, he ended up tangled under Jadaria's legs, nearly tripping the poor woman as he tried to hide behind her.
He was still a little afraid of her, but at least she seemed safe enough!
Jadaria herself was beginning to get tired of tripping over her newest son - though she didn't know why he kept getting up under her. Finally, though, they reached her destination - that little store where he'd come from. She had to return the templates, and wanted to look around some more. Maybe there would be other people there, too! Maravilha wasn't the only one, after all, right?
So they finally made it to the shop, and she held the door open for him; as quickly as possible, the boy dashed inside, then promptly stopped, dual eyes going wide.
"...?"
"It's okay, Mara... C'mon, get outta the doorway... there's a good boy... Look, there's a couch you can sit on while mommy... Oh! Lookie there!" Jadaria brightened at the sight of the blue girl. Maybe she was... well. Whatever Mara was? Quickly, she shooed her son towards the couch - there was no parent around that she could see, and from her experience, kids only got more awkward if their parents were around. So she promptly excused herself to dig around on the shelves, watching secretly to see how he reacted.
And poor Maravilha just stood there after skidding towards the couch, eyes wide as he blinked at the upside-down girl.

Vidya's white eyes opened when the door chime went off; and though her brain was a little fuzzy thanks to all the blood that had rushed to her head, she knew this was a good thing, and she even made a cheery little squee. People where here, yay! Now if only she could get her body to work for her again...
"Hullo!" She chirped cheerfully as the boy was practically forced over to her, lifting one of her suddenly heavy arms to wave her fingers at him. Despite how heavy her limbs were and how fuzzy her brain felt, she couldn't help but giggle at the way the smaller boy stared at her...he looked so scared and confused! "Ah...one moment, lemme turn right-side-up..!" She giggled out, reaching out and putting her hand on the boy's stomach lightly, to gently guide him to the side a little bit. "Don't wanna hit you or anythin'!" The girl explained as she moved the little one to a safer place.
Pulling her legs off of the couch, she curled them over her, slowly doing a little summersault off of the couch itself, also being careful about her long braid, which had coiled on the floor. There were three problems with this, naturally! One, her landing was a little hard on her knees; Two, her haori jacket was now pulled up over her head, practically blinding her; and three...well, she was just plain dizzy now! She sat there for a moment or two, letting her dizzyness pass before pulling her haori off of her head, allowing it to fall down her back the way it should be, right along with her white and blue braid. "There we go!" She cheered for herself, then turned to smile brightly at the clashing, but still cute little boy. "I didn't hit you, did I? I'm really sorry if I did!" She inquired, looking over the little one before pointing up at herself.
"I'm Vidya by the way! I really like your hair...I've never seen anyone with hair like that before, its really neat! And--" She paused for a moment, her eyes resting on the mechanical arm the boy had. Leaning her head to the side curiously, she closed her right eye, then looked at the arm again with her pupilless one. After a moment or two, when her little experiment was over, she continued on as if she'd never stopped. "And your arm! Its all metal and cool and wow! For some reason, I think it suits you VERY well!" She gave the younger one an eyeless smile this time, being just as bright and cheery as she was known to be.

When touched, Maravilha automatically recoiled, moving out of the way almost immediately. His eyes stayed wide open, dual-coloured irises staring at this... this person. And he was scared - and confused! The one person that he halfway trusted in his relatively short life had just shoved him off on someone that he didn't know at all!
But she was pretty - all blue and white and fluffy looking. And she had nifty clothes - they made him want to go up and touch them and feel them. They looked like they would be fun. He didn't, of course (as that flip she had just done had in fact almost hit him, which made his arms pull up and rest over his chest, not to mention made him shiver in fear), but the thought was still there. Maybe later, when she wasn't all... all flippy. And stuff.
The poor boy just stared dumbly at her for a few moments, tilting his head vaguely over to the side when she mentioned his arm, as though he didn't understand. Then he glanced down at it, lifting it and wiggling his fingers, listening to the clicking of the metal and the very, very faint whirring that it made, then promptly hid both of his arms behind his back and blushed, eyes dropping to the ground. He scuffed the floor a bit, dragging his white-socked toes along the pristine tiles, then glanced back up - though his head remained down.
'Maravilha.'
"...Maravilha," he said, very softly - but hadn't he just said it? But his mouth hadn't moved. Of course, it wasn't his voice, the first time - it was a whispery, papery little thing. Hardly noticable at all, really, but there, nonetheless. It frightened him, of course, but he was already shivering - so it really didn't make much of a difference, did it?
But who said it? Maybe it was his mother? But she was definitely 'absorbed' into the shelves of stationary at the moment.

Vidya watched the new boy with interest...did he really not notice how strange his arm was? Then again...he certainly didn't look very old. Maybe he was fresh from the tome? Not that she could tell for sure who was from the tome or not...but something about him told her he probably was. Maybe it was the sudden quiet of the study today. However, the longer she watched him, the more she just wanted to hug him! He was so cute! She couldn't help the little squee that tried to escape her lips when he hid his arms behind his back...and...and he was blushing! She literally had to cover her mouth with one of her blue hands when he scuffed the floor.
Aww, why was he so cute?! She couldn't help but stare at him...everything about him screamed insecure and rather paranoia...but it was probably just that that made him so adorable to her. Soon, Vidya just had to look away, her hand still over her mouth to silence her adoring 'aww' noises she was so dying to make.
When he told her his name, her resolve to not touch him shattered instantly. Squeeing happily, she threw her arms around the boy and hugged him close to her -though not close enough to cut off his breath, just enough to make her feel better about her resolve breaking-. "Maravilha, you are so cuute!" She informed him, nuzzling into the blonde half of his hair. "Aww, and you're shaking! I'm not gonna hurt you, I promise!" She giggled out, eventually letting him go once she had made up for the time her resolve held strong. Vidya's expression was similar to someone in the presence of a few puppies and kittens, though her own naturally flighty nature and cheery disposition was clearly seen as well. "I'll even pinky swear it!" When the offer was made, she held up her right hand, all of her fingers closed into a fist save for her blue pinky. Yay childish habits! They die so very hard.

For a long time, or what seemed like a long time, Maravilha just eyed the ground, scraping it with the end of his foot and finding it terribly interesting. Was it? Maybe. But he could feel the terror curling in his stomach, though he didn't know exactly what it was or why it was there. It was just... this whole, well, new person thing... made him very uneasy.
But he didn't have much time to be uneasy, because soon enough he found himself wrapped up in the blue girl's arms, and he couldn't help the loud squeal of fright that escaped his throat. He squirmed angrily, and for a moment his mother actually looked over worriedly, but when she let him go, he took a few breaths and just stared at her, and her exposed pinky.
For a moment, it didn't seem like he knew what to do. He was so young! But he was old enough mentally to comprehend a promise, and his eyes went wide. Pinky swear? Well, he didn't know what that was, but it sounded important, right? And she said she wouldn't hurt him. He didn't want to get hurt.
Uncertainly, he lifted his mechanical arm - she liked it, right? - then this little brows crushed together as he mimicked her, holding out his pinky. He didn't know what to do, though, so he just stood there, finger poking out.
"...no hurt me?" he asked, softly.

Naturally, Vidya had been worried about Maravilha's reaction to her hug...she'd never met anyone who was afraid of them! Then again, there were an awful lot of strange things in Gaia...However, any worry she had was thrown headfirst into a brick wall once the boy looked like he was starting to mimic her.
Smiling brightly, she linked her blue pinky with his shiney metallic one. "I'd never hurt you! Even without a pinky swear I wouldn't hurt you! You're way to cute~" Obviously she was fawning over the little boy...agh how she loved smaller kids! Vidya would never hurt someone...and the day she almost broke Jiro's nose was entirely not her fault, AND she was a toddler; how was she supposed to know he was on the other side of the door when the study scared the daylights out of her?! However, that was in the past, and Jiro wasn't hurt...so it didn't count! "A Pinky promise is the best kind of promise, because shaking hands to promise is for stinky business men and doesn't count because they usually lie." Thats what her brother said, anyway. "So a pinky promise is a really real promise~" One of her bad habits was babbling; and she was doing that so well right now. Releasing his Pinky, she instead went and busied her fingers by playing with the golden rope she always had tied loosely about her waist.
"I can protect you if you want! I'm learning how to use polearms and staves!" She stated proudly, pointing over to the long, blue stave with silver tendrils curling around a darker blue gem at the top, the longer object in the corner of the room; obviously left there when she went to flop on the couch.

Maravilha eyed her oddly at their 'pinky promise,' unsure of what to think. He listened to her babbling, taking it all in as a toddler would - so innocent, even with his paranoia. So a pinky promise was the best kind of promise? Then this person really wouldn't hurt him. He hadn't thought that she would, anyway - she seemed awfully nice. But he couldn't help but be afraid; what if she hadn't been so nice? Then she might have hurt him!
"...protect Mara?" he asked, eyes going wide as he looked over to the staff. For a moment, he seemed to consider this, then shook his head and puffed up, taking in air and holding his chin up high; the little tendrils on his back flared brightly and lifted, wriggling a bit - the ends igniting into miniature fans of energy as he did so.
"Can take care of m'self!" he declared - though he was shivering from the remnants of fear even as he said it. In a way, it was adorable - he was trying to be 'big,' but he really was so little, so young... and so terribly afraid. He was determined, though.

"Yeah, prote--" Vidya paused, her white eyes focusing once more on Mara as he puffed himself up to look bigger, then trailing upwards to the green energy tendrils that flared out. Looking back down at Mara at his declaration, Vidya gave another happy cry and hugged the boy once more - hoping he wouldn't scream this time. "YOU ARE SO CUTE!" She squee'd out affectionately, nuzzling the little boy for only a moment. Her face was slightly flushed from the access cute this boy seemed to possess, but she was thoroughly pleased to have a young tale this absolutely adorable come from the tome.
"Heeeeee...I'm sure you'll protect yourself too! I think you'll be really, really good at it!" She encouraged after letting him out of her grasp. "But if you ever need help, you can call for me and I'll help you!" The offer was once more extended, and she peacefully sat back on her heels. Honestly, this little one was going to be the death of her...he was ubercute! Trembling while he was trying to look all big and macho...the blue girl really had to commend him on managing to pull it off without looking silly (and she would know about looking silly...she was quite aware of everything she did, thank you! Maybe not right away but...eventually).
"Here, I'll even help you now! There's one boy, he's a tale like us - You came from the tome, right? - Anyway! He's older than me, and he's covered in red, yellow and blue feathers...an' he's got black around his mouth, too. Kinda like a parrot, right? He can be reeeeally scary. Really scary! He even scares me sometimes!" Well, a lot of things can scare her...but Tybalt seems to do it best, especially when he snaps at her for whatever reason. The description of his colours were for Mara's sake; you could spot Tybalt anywhere, once you knew his colours and patterning. "So be careful around him, 'kay? He can be very nice don't get me wrong--" At this she blushed a bit, recalling a few prior incidents with her best friend. "But he's usually in a bad mood...and really, really grumpy lookin'." Having figured she'd warned her new friend enough, she leaned forward a bit to plant her hands securely on the ground beside her knees. "Now that you know, you can avoid being scared around him!" Because usually people were careful once they knew who they were dealing with...and she also figured Tybalt wouldn't like kids, especially someone as paranoid and easily frightened as Mara was. In the end, she congradulated herself on doing them both a favor!
"So Mara, what do you like to do?" It was completely off-topic, but that seemed to be a reoccuring theme with this one. She was back to grinning that silly, happy grin of hers.

"Not cute!" Maravilha whined, though he didn't scream - he just squirmed angrily and wriggled in the blue-girl's grip. He wasn't cute! A modest sort of male indignity welled up inside of him - not something he understood, but something he knew nonetheless. He was not cute! Not in the least! And he would not suffer being called cute!
But he was allowed free soon enough, and he scooted back a little ways, rocking on his heels and eyeing the strange girl warily. Still, she was pretty nice, so he tried to calm down - hugging himself and letting the little tendrils along his back fall limp and lifeless again. One little brow lifted cutely, and he listened with great interest about this boy who was scary. Scary! He wouldn't be scared of some... parrot! Whatever a parrot was, heh. But he wouldn't be! The thought made him puff up again, but he soon enough deflated as the question was posed to him.
"Ah... ... ..." Maravilha's eyes dropped, and he frowned a bit, absently rubbing his elbow. What did he like to do? He wasn't sure. He'd only been around a few days, after all. He had no idea what he liked to do - the only thing he really 'knew' was that... well...
He liked the toys that his new mother had gotten him. And he liked playing by himself - but he kind of liked playing with his brothers, too. That made him smile, and he looked up again.
"Like playing wif' Kajee," he decided, a childish sort of lisp dragging out a few of the sounds.

"Okay, not cute...how about handsome?" Vidya giggled out, pressing her hands together to the sides of her index fingers rested just in front of her lips. Handsome was what a boy liked to be called, right? Well either way, it all meant cute in the end...and she knew that. It was just what Mara prefered to be called!
"Playing?" She repeated, flopping back onto her butt and folding her legs before her. "What kinda games do you play with 'Kajee'?" Naturally, she had no clue who Kajee was, but hey! She could always pretend, or find out later, or figure out what made Kajee so special. "I like playing too! With my family and my friends...they're all so much fun! I don't like being alone though..." Vidya admitted, her headwings drooping for only a moment.

"Han'shum?" came the questioning reply, but Maravilha decided that he liked that much better than 'cute.' Yes, handsome - he could be handsome! Maravilha the Handsome! It made him puff up a little bit, and the tendrils at his back wriggled excitedly. He deflated soon enough, though, his childish attention span drawn to something else.
"Kajee n'me like to... to play?" He squinted a little thoughtfully - he didn't really know what to say. They played! How did he explain that? "He plays wif m'toys, wif Mara. An' we play tag n' hide'n'go-seek an' he's teachin' Mara to shwim." He nodded, decisively, then mimicked Vidya and flopped onto his own rear, tapping his toes together idly.
"Why'd y'be 'lone if y'have fam'ly an' fwiendsh?" he asked, curiously, eyes going wide. "I like bein' 'lone shometime."

"Okay, handsome it is!" Vidya giggled out, taking note of the way he seemed to mentally preen at the idea. Well, she mostly saw the way he responded to it physically, and thats what she based her conclusion on.
The blue tale then saw the way he mimicked her when he sat down...so, with a grin, she did the same...by partially mimicking the way he tapped his feet together. She was bigger, but that didn't mean she had to stop being immature! Maturity was for special situations, anyway! "Ooh, that sounds like fun! I play tag with my little brother too...but he's got wings, so he can get away faster..." She pouted at this, reaching up to lightly flick one of her small, utterly useless headwings. "And I'm teaching my uh...cousin how to swim!" Her 'cousin' was Armel, a fellow tall tale. Armel's father, Pales, and her own mother, Enoh, decided to adopt eachother as family, making them brother and sister, and subsiquently made their children cousins. It was weird to have Armel as a friend first, then family...but it was so much fun at the same time! "We should all go swimming sometime!" She decided with a happy keen, clapping her hands together gleefully.
"Exactly! I have friends and family because I don't want to be alone!" Vidya smiled, leaning over to pat Mara on the head. "There are times though, when you have no choice but to be alone...and I don't like those one bit!" Well, she didn't mind being alone when she was stricken with wanderlust...but at the same time, every time she did go out on her own, she met up with someone by accident! Like Mara, for example. "I know a lot of people who like to be alone...I just don't." Perhaps she was an oddball for that reason...but it was highly likely she was an oddball for much more than that.
