The movies I saw recently were Memoirs of a Geisha and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.
I thought Memoirs was a pretty good movie. The costumes were gorgeous and it gives you a good sense of the Geisha culture pre-WWII. However, I strongly recommend that people read the book as well. It really is much better and you get more from the book than you do the movie.
As for Nausicaa... Miyazaki-san is brilliant. The story was captivating as was the art work. It really makes you think about what we're doing to the world as well.

------------- I haven't seen either of those yet. I would like to read Memoirs of a Geisha, then see the movie (it's just how I do things). It does sound like it would be really good to watch. 3nodding -------------

The oppurtunity for me to see the movie arose before my oppurtunity to read the book. So, I did things backwards.

Well...Narnia. But everybody seems to like that one.
Got to see Memoirs of a Geisha too...haven't read the book though. sweatdrop I really want to.
