Only disaster can be expected when one strives for more than can be achieved
by their allotted social status. --The Ton
-----Even the lower class can dream of spacious mansions, expensive clothes and servants eagerly waiting on their every need, can't they? Julianna Grenshaw, born to working class parents and a life of certain poverty, certainly thought so. Filling her daydreams with fabulous notions of a future filled with wealth, power and the finest luxuries if only she could figure out how to obtain it. How could a child from such squalid beginnings act so entitled? Even her parents couldn't quite understand where their daughter or her abhorrence for a hard day's work had initially stemmed from and it was much to their relief when she finally acquired a job as a maid in the town home of one of the distinguished noble families. They would have been horrified if only they'd known Julianna's true intentions.
Resting on the laurels of youth and stunning beauty to obtain her station as a showpiece and servant, Julianna's shoddy cleaning skills and lazy demeanor were easily over looked. What hours she did spend enduring the indignity of manual labor were only used to guise her true intentions from the lady of the house. An endeavor to both seduce and steal the Lord whose eyes she made sure always lingered on her longer than was decent had been in motion since she first stepped foot on the property. Twisting every opportunity to her advantage when those who might send her carefully devised plot awry had turned their backs.
It was under these unfortunate and overly ambitious circumstances that Broderick Grenshaw came to be sired.
