I primarily decided to support the Coyotes because the idea of having a hockey team in Arizona struck me as being kind of hilarious. And then last season they actually did pretty damn well, and it was just...awesome. whee Some Canadians get huffy about those of us who support American teams, but when most of the team is Canadian anyway, who cares?

//This is totally on-topic. ninja I'm just perpetuating a stereotype, or something.

I actually don't follow hockey all that much. I played minor hockey when I was a kid, and I've always enjoyed watching the game if it happens to be on TV somewhere, but I never followed the NHL standings much until last year. It seemed like that's all my coworkers talked about, so I picked a team to support just so I could join the conversation.

Is hockey a majorly Canadian thing?

United States, Indiana. Rednecks, four wheelers, muddin', speech impediments, and teen pregnancy. I live in a town called Bicknell, which people have nicknamed methnell or hicknell.

But, I grew up in Orlando. It always humors me when people who arent from there think it's all disney land and shopping malls.

I just wanted to let you know, Taeryyn that I enjoyed this thread and think that others might, as well. I am quoting the OP outside of the guild, in another guild, as I have with a few other threads, here. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know and I'll address them as quickly as I can.

It is in BURN, yes. Not a tough guess, I suppose, given my signature. I'd give you a link to it, but hopefully it will change soon. I dropped it in the Quizes and Spam subforum, because I wasn't sure where else it belonged but alerted the other Crew members and Captains and let them know that it was likely better suited to a different place and requested that it be moved. Once it finds a better home, provided I don't forget, I'll put a link here.

Angel of Music, you deceived me.

I live outside of Detroit... So I *must* be on welfare and smoke crack. (I'm on WIC, so I don't know if that counts..)
We drink Pop and cook with Soda
When someone says "Ginger Ale?" we think we are getting Vernors
Hmmm... we are all ether hunters, or know a hunter (which is true). Oh! Or we all work at Ford or drive a Ford
We design your children's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit.
You can experience all four seasons in one day.
Winter lasts 9 months.
Home Improvement stores are packed in the summer

Michigan is awesome tho, we have Eminem and Motown

ROSS!
Every time I go to Florida I *have* to go to Ross
From what I remember of Orlando is *alot* of traffic, Universal Studios, Disney, and strip mall after strip mall after strip mall...

I just moved, so now I get to make fun of the Uptown/South End areas of my city, where I used to live.

Uptown is full of historic (in other words, really old) buildings and quirky shops, so the area is full of young people and hipsters.

The South End is like Uptown, minus the nicer buildings and about 90% of the hipsters, but with a special bonus: rape and mugging. If you order now, we'll throw in the limited edition Slum Lord™ and his pal who keeps you up at night, Crackwhore Sue™! (Sue's 10 children by 10 different fathers unfortunately also included.)

(I'm kidding; I really liked living uptown, and I'm going to miss a lot of things. Hoshit, maybe I'm a hipster!)

My new neighbourhood is known for three groups of people: university students, white yuppies, and (only within the last 10 years) a massive influx of immigrants from China and from the Middle East. biggrin

Several of these are Canadian stereotypes, too. The one about welfare is similar to a stereotype about my home province, Nova Scotia. Supposedly we're all fisherman, so we work for 3 months and live on pogey (employment insurance) for the rest of the year. razz

I wish I lived in an "uptown" type area. The closes to me is Downtown Dearborn... and everything is in Arabic, so I don't really know what shops are what

I love how I'm on the cusp of Myrtle Beach and "Allanta". XD Myrtle Beach and Atlanta are both roughly equidistant, and both evil for traffic. But I like a lot of the smaller places here, that way I can get a big city feel without getting into a huge crowd.

I just LOLed so hard, I had to share it
