For Worse.
Noisy wheels skated across cool, white tile
Our fingers interlaced as I promised you to stay awhile
That was when a tear rolled down your porcelain cheek
And soon, a lone tear was followed by an endless creek
I knew I swore to stay strong for you until the end
That I'd be with you, for better or worse, and to defend
Your fragile heart from feeling lonely ever again
But I felt helpless as the nurses forced our grasp to part
And what was left of your warm gaze began to wane
The doors now locked before my eyes, before my heart
When I felt lifeless and all of my efforts... vain.
Suddenly, you abrubtly awoke, shivering in cold sweat
Realizing it was all merely a nightmare, only to upset
Your peaceful dreams and your serene sleep
Relieved, you grasped for your heart, but began to weep
For its skip was too familiar, its beat too strong
Yet didn't I promise... that I'd be with you all along?
