Ah, she was going to overheat and die from bashfulness. She wondered if Tershia would morun. The noodle knew that her sister would be sad (it was only right) but hoped it wouldn't too long before the girl was back to being her happy, bubbly self...

Mentally scolding herself, Sazuki shuddered at a gush of wind and smiled faintly at the demonic next to her. Right, get ahold of yourself, girl! "I suppose that makes two of us. I've never met many companions myself.", she said, giving a little half-laugh and looking out thoughtfully at the lake infront of them before the purple male spoke again.

She should've given herself whiplash from how quickly she turned back to Jak, her eyes scanning his face and her nose picking up his scent. At his flushed cheeks and embarrassed scent, Sazuki felt her own bashfulness rear its ugly head. "Ah! No! You're not-I mean-You didn't-!", she floundered, ears laying back on her skull in her nervous fit. "I mean, you didn't do anything wrong! You're perfectly-ah-perfect! Perfectly perfect! That's what you are!", she said, her eyes widening as her own words caught up with her. She quickly raised a front paw and broke eye contact with the male to daintily began cleaning it. Her tail twitched in agitation as she prayed for her cheeks to stop burning and her heart to stop pounding.

Jak was shocked when she said she hadn't had a friend before. Quite simply, he felt honored, and all the same disappointed. She was stuck with him as a friend...Though, quick to remember her words, he supposed he wasn't that bad. The heavy weight had been lifted, and he was adjusting as such. "Well....I'd be glad to be your first friend." He murmured, tip of his tail flicking just the tiniest bit.

The flush that was on his cheeks hadn't been hidden it seemed. He looked at her rather wide eyed, unsure of how to reply to that. Perfect?! Him?! With all his baggage!? How in the world could she think that!? "I-I-I'm not p-p-perfect!" His own ears folded down as he squirmed, not wanting to move away from her lest she be even more cold from her dip in the water. He watched her start to clean her paw and looked away, still flushed and nervous. She thought he was perfect....? The more he thought about it, the more embarrassed he got, though a tiny little content smile graced his visage.

Sazuki's mind raced as she attempted to get a handle on her emotions. Gosh, she was being so silly! Why in the world should a statement innocently said be causing her to react like a twittering fool? Still, despite her attempts to calm herself, the teal Noodle's heart was beating so quickly and her mind continued to be in a daze. That is, until she registered that the purple Demonic had spoken.

Shaking herself out of her mental vacation, Sazuki blinked and looked over at Jak in surprise. Oh, he had a lovely smile! No, wait. Had he said what she thought he'd said? "Um, Jak? Forgive me for being rude, but did you just offer to be my... Friend?", she asked, lowering her now-clean paw and nailing him with an inquisitive stare.

The question made her both very happy and very, very confused. Why would she be a considered a friend? All she'd done was make a fool of herself in an attempt to make a fellow Noddle feel more secure about themselves. Did that count as friendship? Sazuki was unsure, fluffing up her fur as some sort of instinctual buffer against some unknown force, pleasantly surprised to feel her fur be on the verge of dryness.

Jak wasn't doing the best at keeping his mind from running rampant either. He hadn't really had a friend before, and really he wasn't 100 percent sure he would be any good at it. But if Sazuki hadn't had one before, he would be glad to do his very best to be a good one. He was sure though, at some point he'd completely mess up, and was just a little frightened-- okay a lot frightened that maybe she would abandon him, scorn him for life, disown him as her friend forever.

He had half a mind to deny that he had just offered to be her friend, while the other half just wanted to say yes, and that she was rather cute, among other things. "Ah.....Uhm...Yes....Yes I did." He finally settled on, glancing away from her with an even larger smile. "You've...you've helped me a lot, even in such a short time." It deserved just the slightest bit of explanation, didn't it? "And....And if you'll have me, I'll try and do my best to be a good friend to you..." Perhaps she wouldn't take him up on the offer, how was he to feel then? His ears folded back against his head, getting ready to be discouraged....Though in truth he didn't know how she'd react.

For some reason, Jak's words made her laugh. Not mockingly, of course not, but his statements amused her on a level that was purely stress-relief. Perhaps she was just trying to blow off her own anxiety? Ah, well, no matter. Sazuki smiled up at the purple demonic, mirth dancing in her eyes. "Ah, forgive me. I did not mean to laugh. Your phrasing just, well, if this had been any other situation, it could've been mistaken for proposing something of a much deeper relationship.", she said, blushing at her own words.

Clearing her throat awkwardly, Sazuki stood and shivered to fluff up her now-dry coat. She looked shyly at Jak, a small smile on her face. "But, as you've asked so nicely, I'd be glad to be your friend. Though, from what I've heard, the best friendships aren't planned. They just sort of happen.", she said, trailing off and looking back across the water. The sun had shifted in the sky, now making it's downward decent into evening. She'd need to find shelter for the night in a few hours.

He turned bright pink under his fur, showing quite visibly to his new companion. He hadn't meant it to sound like that, as beautiful, cute, amazing as Sazuki was! Just friendship! His mouth hung open for several moments as he tried to find the words, though they came at a much slower pace than he had expect. "I-I hadn't---Not in that!" He couldn't even finish, far too flustered to completely answer her.

Thus, Jak took to silence. He watched her get up, half expecting her to leave him alone, especially after he botched an offer for friendship so badly. However, when she smiled at him instead, and accepted his offer so well.....He turned an even brighter shade of pink. She was so lovely when she smiled, and though he couldn't voice his opinion, sworn to silence unless he actually botch something. He kept to the ground, glancing away to instead fiddle with his tail, feeling the awkwardness settle in.

Sazuki's ears twitched, gazing at the rippling waters of the secluded lake. Silence didn't normally bother her, but it most certainly was now. Jak hadn't said anything about them being friends - other than stuttering out a response to her teasing. Perhaps he did not, in fact, want to be friends? No, he didn't seem the type to lie. So, what was it?

Huffing mentally, she looked back over her shoulder at her silent companion. The question she'd planned to ask died in her throat. Jak was... blushing? Quite badly in fact. Oh, dear. Had she truly flustered him that much?! If it wasn't so sad, she'd have been amused. "Jak, are you alright?", she asked, tilting her head at him in feigned confusion.

A rumble in the distance made Sazuki jump and look in the direction of the noise, eyes widening at the dark thunderclouds forming at the horizon. The wind was starting to pick, as well, bringing the scent of rain with it. Correction on her timeline - find shelter now. "Ah, well, it would seem that I have to go! I'll be sure to come back through this area after my journey...", she murmured, flinching as another flash of lightning split the sky.

Jak was far too aware of how awkward he was, looking down at his own neatly crossed paws. Oh gosh, what was he going to do now? He had no idea what to say, especially now that he had messed things up. Well, not really messed them up, but it was bad enough.

"I'm...I'm fine!" He choked out, quickly, before letting the silence take over again. At least he hadn't messed things up too bad if she was asking if he was alright...That had to be worth something, right?

The rumble of the thunder made him groan. Storms, more storms. He didn't care for them too much, though the nights when they came made a comforting lullaby, as lonely as it seemed. He glanced to Sazuki, noticing her flinch at the lightning. "Oh...Alright. There's...umm..." He paused, thinking harder, "There's a small cave to the west of here....It should keep you dry.." He didn't want to bother her more than he already had, he could probably find somewhere to fit most of himself under.

Sazuki's mouth twitched into a smile briefly, amused by her flustered new friend attempt to soothe her. He was very kind. She hoped he found what he was looking for, what he needed, to become more confident.

Oh, wait, he knew of a cave? To the west? That was-

A brilliant flash of lightning sent her scuttling back against the purple demonic's side, wriggling once more under his wing for protection."Show me." she said, shivering as another gust of wind brought with it a few more splatters of rain. "Please." was added as a polite after thought, though it might not have been heard over the booming grumble of the approaching storm.

Confidence wasn't something he could gain overnight, but perhaps this new friendship could give him a push in the right direction...He'd have to see where it put him though, what sort of journeys he'd have to go through.

Perhaps the next time they'd meet he'd have adventures to tell her about...With less stuttering.

The sudden lightening blinded him for a moment, and the next thing he knew she was at his side again, tucked under his wing. Well. Unexpected. Her pleads for help only made him a little more nervous, though...With the storm there was no time to waste! He quickly guided her through the forest, wincing at the more frequent flashes before they finally came to the opening. "H-Here." He breathed, helping her in before watching the clouds open up fully and spill more rain upon the earth. Just in time.

Sazuki would be more than happy to follow the purple demonic anywhere in the world if it meant getting to shelter before the impending storm. She hated getting wet. Not to mention her earliest memories were those of confusion and heartache when she came out of her bowl and there was no one there - no one to shield her from the storm she herself had been born into.

She'd almost died that night.

Back in the present, however, Sazuki had managed to crawl into the hole and tug Jak in after her just in time for the downpour to really let loose. The cave was small, spacious enough for one Noodle, but a little cramped for two. Still, she let out a sigh of relief and made herself more comfortable, tucking her smaller body up under Jak's wing - which was quickly becoming her favorite spot.

"Thank goodness we got here in time!" she said, smiling up at him in the dimly-lit cave. "I hope you don't mind that I pulled you in with me - I just assumed that you wouldn't want to be caught out in th-EEP!" she began, cutting herself off with a flinch as a flash of lightning illuminated the space, thunder roaring almost immediately. That had been close!
