Konpaku's hands stopped cold as the voice of a man spoke. The man introduced himself as Lieutenant Arino. Now if that wasn't a sign that things had gone south nothing was. The next words spoken almost made Konpaku spit on his radio. 'Withdraw...' Clenching his jaw Konpaku was not one to disobey orders, he was a squad 2 member for souls sake. Disobeying orders meant death. Leaving a man to die with no enemy in sight was also something that meant death. Death of the integrity of a shingami. Grabbing the hilt of his sword tightly with his right hand Konpaku lifted his left to his radio. Taking a second to breath and collect himself he spoke calmly into his radio, "With all due respect sir, go ******** yourself. I'd rather die than leave a man behind, and I don't plan on dying here."

Letting go of his radio he turned back to the other two, looking at them with a face that said he wasn't joking. "Get him off that damn spike, and lets get going...NOW!" Turning back to the rear Konpaku was to wrapped up in what was happening now to even think about the consequences of his actions, nor his surroundings. His focus was on killing hollows and trying to find the thing that did this to his comrades. No one was getting away with this, even if he had to take down every captain of the soul society.

Satto's hand stopped reaching for the man as he was given a new set of orders from someone of higher rank. Satto hesitated for a moment causing a slight breech in etiquette towards his higher ups. He shook off this doubt and withdrew his hand allowing it to slide back into his robes. Satto's loyalty lied with the higher ups. His first and foremost objective was to complete the mission. The parameters were just changed and so had the mission. He tilted his head activating his ear piece so he could speak to his commander. "Very well, Satto withdrawing over" He spoke coldly and phlegmatically. He was after all part canine and he couldn't help but follow orders.

He glanced over to Konpaku before turning around, "If I weren't required to withdraw I will probably kill you for being so disobedient" The was a slight hint of disdain in Satto's voice someone who was compulsively emotional would naturally cause tension with Satto. He was a man of principle after all and in Satto's eyes a person like Konpaku who would so easily break a sacred principle like loyalty had no place being in something structured like an army. Orders are orders, the men who died knew the risk they took in coming and if the roles were reversed Satto would expect them to treat him the same and consider the mission more important than himself.

Satto then began to walk the direction from whence he came. Not giving a look to Linuen or even a second acknowledgment to Konpaku knowing that the details of his orders didn't require them to follow him. He would obey the orders from his superiors because he couldn't hope to know what they did and he trusted that their orders were in the best nature for himself and for the Seireitei. "Stay on the path" His mind repeated this to himself over and over in his head as he continued to walk away with no hesitation or regret in his disposition.

Linuen Frost
Fourth Division, Seireitei, Soul Society
South Pole [6: 350]

There was a sudden movement. It was so quick that it was so unlikely to be expected of someone like him. Within seconds, Linuen was directly in front of Satto, arms spread out, indicating of the medic to implore Satto's departure. There was a supreme emotion of conviction in his facial expression and it was pretty self-explanatory for anyone who saw that expression. There was no longer a bubbly, upbeat, shy medic before the Second Division member Satto; there was only an upset Linuen Frost.

"NO!" Linuen exclaimed at the top of his lungs. "I won't let you abandon these people to die, Satto-san!" The medic added with a dangerous tone. Not only that, Linuen was also holding his wakizashi at his right hand, indicating the seriousness of his words to his comrade. He was upset. He was serious. He was determined to save those people up there. Yet, he knew that he could not do this task alone, or only with Konpaku; he needed the unity of the team and this was not possible if one of them were following orders to back out and leave someone to die.

Naturally, Linuen did not know what Satto held for his virtues; however, as a medic, he had responsibilities to hold on to himself. It was his most important task to preserve life, not abandon it to dissipate because of vague orders. "I won't let you leave, Satto-san!" Linuen repeated with a much more dangerous tone. "These are our comrades! How could you bear leave them at this state?! Have you no conscience?!" The medic shouted hysterically, unable to cope with the emotional stress he was experiencing.

He shook his head. "No, no, no. Konpaku-san, stay there! We have to stay here and save them!" Linuen said with gritted teeth. Of course, Linuen understood everything that Lieutenant Arino said; it was all perfectly clear. But he knew deep in his heart that this was not the right path. They were on the verge of discovering something, probably dangerous enough to cost their lives, but there's something to risk about - life.

"I will not disobey our commanding officer. We have been ordered to withdraw Linuen." Satto spoke quietly and softly, his words holding a hint of sadness in them though so faint that Linuen may not even be able to pick it up. Satto could not disobey he wanted to protect those and he truly wanted to help that man but his orders were crystal clear. He was to leave the man and withdraw so that's Just what he was going to do.

"I will not help you get him down Linuen" Satto's eyes stared deeply into Linuens. "I am going to continue to walk very slowly so that you can keep up in the direction we came from" He spoke these words seemingly slower than necessary, perhaps he was hinting at something or perhaps he was just saying it to make sure Linuen understood Satto would not aid him in this task.

Satto's body flickered as it appeared behind Linuen and he began to walk at a snails pace the other direction. This made it so that Linuen could effectively have around a plethora of time to get the man down and still be within earshot of Satto. Of course hypothetically is Linuen were to get the body down Satto would have no choice but to help extract the man considering the unit pulling out was a complete necessity. Their orders were clear to withdraw. Though if one of his comrades stubbornly disobeyed the order and brought a body, refusing to leave it Satto would be obligated to assist in extracting said body. This all being hypothetical of course.
