*** Fair Disclaimer. Demons and angels can be a touchy subject, if you don't like the content in this thread then leave it. If you get mad over the content and start raging your posts will be deleted as I have posted this disclaimer.

So Joshie and I were on the subject of media and what doors it can open.
I'm a huge weenie when it comes to movies, I stay away from mostly everything except kiddy movies and cheesy Lifetime flicks.
I do like to watch movies about people being possessed though...
It really shows what can happen if you are careless. ;o
Well during this discussion we got on the topic of demons and if we have dealt with them.
I have and we decided that it might be an ok thread for the guild.

For those of you that don't know my brother is really big into meth.
He is a lot older than me...
anyway He lived at my grandmas and she would babysit me...
you could take a picture of my brother and there would always be a black orb or black haze around him in the picture. His eyes are always blacked over and his rage is unbelievable.
he would always say that there would be black masses following him and holding him down in his sleep.
They follow him.

One time he came over to my house and stayed a few days, when he left I went to bed and this black mass held me down and shook me like crazy. that happened four different times.

Also when I was little I would hear gibberish in the air when he was around and sometimes when I would fall asleep I would get gashes on the bottom of my feet because of the things that followed him. I couldn't understand the voices it was like they were talking in a different language.

When I was little I remember seeing weird black balls of energy float around him.

Another thing... when I got older I started to watch a lot of horror movies and listen to questionable music.
i would see huge giant dark shadows around me.
I would also see dark shadow people randomly and I would hear my named being called out of nowhere.

A friend came over one night and she woke up coughing her brains out, she said something was strangling her and you could see marks on her neck.

I would also go to a friends house and we would hear scratching on the walls and weird things would happen like one time I was holding a cup of coffee and I set it down on the counter and if then flew off the counter my friend and I didn't mess with it so we didn't make it fly off the counter.

It took a lot of time with God to get this nonsense to stop, my brother and I do not have contact and I do not want him around cause I don't want to deal with his demons.

I know for a fact that demons are real, I have seen them and they are some scary looking things. I have seen them with my eyes and in my dreams.
They exists whether you want to acknowledge them or not.

When I was in Highschool i was in my room one time and i felt like something sinister was trying to take control of me, body and all, and i cried out to God and then I saw this big flash of light, and saw this massive being that stood about 9 ft tall, with armor and a massive sword. He smiled at me and then i didn't see him anymore. When he left, so did the feeling. I figure he was my guardian angel. i still see him from time to time, and i named him Big Guy because he's just massive. Yall can think this stuff isnt real, but its happening around us, everyday. I would encourage that you keep mind the things you watch and listen to. Incantations (of the satanic kind) and demonic names are dangerous. If they are said outloud, they summon, even if it was just the TV that said them... I've seen first hand the damage in ones life movies like Paranormal Activity can cause. Some people are more sensitive to this stuff than others. Some people are so unaware of the spiritual battle that it doesnt phase them at all.. so they think. but by taking in these movies and music, it gets in your psychie. Wether you are aware of it or not, or even completely desensitized to things having to do with the spiritual, it affects you in negative ways. You find you get angry easily, or depressed all of the sudden. You lash out at people you care about or just sit alone in your room. Usually the biggest one is an out of control temper. Though everyone is different. You can believe this or not, your choice, but please understand that there is a spiritual battle between heaven and hell, and it is raging 24/7, and it's all around us.

I will be both honest and fair here.

I admit I lack in capacity (for whatever reason) to perceive such things. I would like to see or witness something that would reveal to me that there is something beyond the material norm. And I would be happy to accept God as something real if I could at least experience something that might suggest it. Along with that, I have been with friends that swore they saw things, sometimes terrible things. They could point right at them, but I didn't see anything. They could hear terrible things I could not hear. And I am faced with the question of 1: Are they having a psychological issue/attack? 2: Are they crazy? 3: Or is something at work that I am incapable of perceiving?

When I have asked this before, I receive an assortment of answers. 1: Because I am not a believer, these entities have no reason to attack me or reveal themselves to me. 2: These people have imagined them to be real to such an extent that their minds play tricks on them. I have seen #2 happen a few times for sure, but because I am not certain of all cases, there is room for #1 to be the case according to trusted friends and religious advisors.

As far as people being effected by demons/possession, etc...

The religious association of demons very closely ties with psychological pathology. There are also other venues in which physchological association can occur. In a nutshell, the symptoms and issues ar parallel with demons being a variant detail.

For example. John is depressed. If you address psychology or the manner in which demons behave, both suggest this is a prime window, or opportunity for John to slip into trouble. If John is depressed and goes to a local bar, we may psychologically deduce that he may be prone to overdoing it. And the doors may be open for him to interact with demons, which may be focused at such a location, as theoretically, other people with demons would be going there as well. I remember a pastor friend of mine who went with me to such a place, and he felt the presence of the devil very strongly there. He explained quite a bit or how demons will follow their hosts to such places where people are weak and vulnerable, and from there, do what demons do best, really.

So then say John drinks excessively, gets intoxicated, starts getting fresh with a woman that doesn't want his attention. For this reason I've also been told that drugs are a means that demons access you, because you are losing control of yourself, and that gives them more room for their suggestions to take root. On a psychological, physical front, the alcohol has impeded his ability and his brain is a bit on the rocks. Now this covers one of many avenues of access to my understanding.

Demons will often deal with avenues of temptation. You could be completely sober of your own conscious will. And you could feel the urge to do something terrible. This is temptation. However, if you feel helplessly compelled to do something, like steal, or rape someone, then we're talking a serious issue here. To this extent, we have the option of a psychological problem, or perhaps a deeper demon issue.

There is the range of problems that include people speaking in wierd tongues, rasping, calling out to demons, or cursing the lord in twisted voices. The difficulty in this is validation. Are these people having problems with real demons? Or are they so engrossed in their beliefs, that they are acting it out in some way? I will say I have tested the latter in a live environment twice. One of which was with someone acting, where the religious parties involved believed it was fact that the person was possessed. The other was with someone whom I couldn't say had a real demon or not. It wasn't staged by my hand, but they were believed to be possessed. When I revealed to the frist group about my deception and what they thought, only some of them were agitated. Others told me I was mistaken. They weren't addressing the demon that was staged, but the very real one that tempted the enactment.

So I'm kind of 50/50 on this. I'm sure that if a demon has to control/influence someone, it will be through their minds somehow. But how much is just a rotten apple of a mind, and how much could be something else? It's an interesting topic.

Have you thought about seeking help from your church or church you trust to deal with this? I believe demons can cause a lot of chaos in someones life if not dealt with. Do you think it has an attachment to the house or your brother?

1: Because I am not a believer, these entities have no reason to attack me or reveal themselves to me.
Demons don't discriminate. They exist to cause chaos. Be it through like you said temptations, or attacking one when they are at their lowest point. It happens through many venues, though one thing is for sure, you are not immune because of disbelief. If disbelief disproved, then you would be safe. However Disbelief is merely that, not believing in the matter. It doesn't disprove that they are there. Please be safe.

I think demons don't pay as much attention to those who aren't saved because they have them where they want them. Born-again Christians seem to be under the most threat of demonic influence and activity, or so I heard? I can imagine how it would send Satan into a fit of rage, knowing he lost someone who had gone over to his Enemy's side, God. Christians are likely to be under attack, but cannot be possessed because the Holy Spirit occupies the body, leaving no room for malevolent entities to enter. Still, that doesn't mean they can't harm or provoke you in other ways. My dad married a woman that he soon divorced, later marrying my mom. This woman was not a Christian, and she was evil as my dad described her. He told me a darkness had gone into her eyes, and she behaved strangely as if possessed or under a demonic influence, often very angry and bitter with dark eyes. When she was sure my father wasn't home, each night she would bring different men over and have sex. She had no love in her heart. Her name was Melissa. After divorcing that woman, my father was blessed to have married my mother, a beautiful God-fearing woman, and they had me.

I often am attacked in my sleep. Demons are constantly terrorizing me, and I'm always having to rebuke them in the name of Jesus. Only then would they leave me alone. It's so frustrating! I'm always complaining to my parents about my dreams. Just last night in the dream the power in the house went out, and it was raining, and a freakish demon with a wide grinning face peeped at me through the windows, and I knew he wanted to kill me. He was ugly. He had sent me a written note that said, "Tonight, you are going to die." I seriously believed I was going to die, but that didn't stop me from trying to stay alive. I tried all the methods I could to get rid of him, even running away, but at last I resorted to calling on the name of the Lord when my attempts proved fruitless. Then my parents woke me up, so I didn't get to see the results. My dreams show a lot of conflict, just so you know. I'm always fighting, sometimes with myself, as the twin doll dream depicts in the link.

I would agree with this to an extent, However one like Rosa who is open to the possibilities, is even more at risk than anyone else. They will do whatever they can to claim them.

I once had a friend who said she saw ghosts in my house while she was at a sleepover. Does that necessarily count? Oh, and she had unexplained amnesia and scratches in the night- had a pregnancy scare and said she heard weird things (or it might have been someone else).

But dang, that's scary.

I'm sorry your brother is into meth. It's nasty stuff.

What you said is interesting, though, because I have a friend who is also into meth, and he says that when he's been on a several-day bender, he see shadows, hears whispers with words he either can't understand or can't make out, and often feels like there's something following him. Now, I'll admit, I find it a little difficult to take his claims too seriously, because when you've been awake for 3+ days, you do start to just flat-out hallucinate. Also, meth combined with sleep deprivation is famous for causing paranoia and psychosis. So maybe what he sees and feels is real, maybe it isn't. I know that he believes it's real and I certainly don't think he's making it up. I just think there could be a perfectly rational, biological reason for his experiences. And it's also true that mind-altering substances have been used for centuries in cultures all over the world to make one more receptive to the supernatural. So maybe there is something to his claims. Again, I just don't know.

I've never really experienced anything supernatural. I don't rule out the existence of demons or spirits or what have you, I just haven't personally experienced anything that's convinced me beyond a shadow of a doubt that these things are out there.

I'm generally a pretty rational person. I believe in things that I've experienced evidence of. I believe in God because He has touched my life in many very real, tangible ways, but demons...not so much. Again, I'm not saying that they don't exist, I'm just saying that I'd be more sure of their existence if I'd had a personal experience myself to suggest their existence. But then again, it sounds terrifying, so I should probably be happy that I haven't experienced any of that.

Thanks for sharing. Don't ever doubt the spiritual realm, it's real. People who tell you "demons aren't real" are spiritually "dead","blind", or "sleeping". Which is why people, especially Christians, should stay away from the occult. Occult practice is another way to open up yourselves to demonic possession, and demon spirits attaching themselves to your abode/home. They are real, and unless you're saved, or know someone who can extract demons (pastor/priest), they'll be hard to remove. (Once you've invited them in).

List of occult practices:
When counseling people for deliverance, it is important that all occultic involvement is exposed, including that of ancestors, where possible, as it opens the door for curses. Here is a list of things to check for - which can be handed to the person seeking deliverance.

What the Bible says about occult:

“When you come into the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire [an ancient occult practice], or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination [detestable] to the LORD…” (Deuteronomy 18:9-12a)

Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God. (Leviticus 19:31)

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21)
