Somewhere around here. He was somewhere around here. Aphrodite sat her perfect heart shaped bum on a bench alongside a building in the downtown area. In one hand she held a churro in a crinkly paper wrapping. Delicately she nibbled on the sugary edge. Her eyes slid from one walking person to another. Oh she could just feel it all the way down to her perfectly painted pink toes! He was right around here, just waiting to be discovered and for the fun to begin! Aphrodite's lips curled downwards into a faint frown. How dare he make her wait this long though! Didn't he know it was rude to keep a lady waiting? Never mind the fact he didn't know she was here. Never mind the fact his path down this very street was more likely the work of cosmic chance steering him towards his inevitable destiny! It was still downright rude to make a lady wait!
Aphrodite's eyes lifted upwards towards the sky. It was that strange time of day right now. It was such early morning, the sky was a light pale morning blue. Here and there were the fading late morning stars. In the pale blue sky hung the heavy white moon. It would vanish once the sun was completely risen. For now though there was a nice view above at least. Still....it was wasted without her little subject showing up!

 Simon had been out for some reason. he needed to clear his head. He felt as if he couldn't sit still. Not for a moment in that house, sitting alone and staring at the TV. It was still pretty early, the boy needed his jacket to be out. The sun hadn't come out and the moon was brilliant with the few stars that shone against the night sky. It was nice. Not too many people were out on the street but there was still that early crowd. The boy chose a street he rarely went down. It provided good people watching opportunities. People rushing to work was the best, it allowed him to laugh at the silly things people did. He considered people watching in his own sport. In that, you could figure out someone, or so he thought. Lost in his thoughts, he passed by a strange woman eating a churro. It looked like she was a bit impatient, probably waiting for someone. He sat beside her, not really acknowledging her but relaxing, waiting for the sun to rise to see people rushing about like ants.

Well THERE he was! Aphrodite's eyes brightened at the sight of Simon when he turned a corner and headed on down her way. She gave her churro another little nibble and turned her gaze to watch the boy sit next to her. With a grin, she tossed the churro over her shoulder and into the bushes behind her. Brushing her hands against each other she shifted on the bench to face the boy. "Well now! It's about time you showed up. I was getting terribly bored. I almost thought you wouldn't make it." She cheerfully began to speak to him. Her long lashes batted in a almost flirty manner as she leaned in a bit towards him. "I suppose I can forgive you for being so slow though."

Simon was surprised when this lady suddenly started to talk to him. "Oh, I think you have the wrong person."He turned to her to take her looks in fully. "But I think I can be anyone you want me to be." He smirked with a wink. "I'll make sure you aren't bored, just tell me what you want." His little smirk didn't leave his face as he eyed her. "Who are you waiting for for sweetie?" Scoots a bit closer to him. "I'll keep you company until your friend gets here." He looked around for people she might be waiting for. "This is a friend you're waiting for, right?" Simon quirked a brow with interest.

Oh...how adorable! He acted so cocky and flirty! Such good traits for her little beacon holder! Aphrodite placed one hand over her lips as she covered a happy little laugh. "Oh dear.... you almost seem to think you have a chance! How cute!" She replied while the boy scooted himself closer to her. Removing the hand from her mouth, Aphrodite reached out to grasp Simon's shoulder, her perfect little nails lightly patting the material of his jacket as she leaned in towards him. "And I'm certainly not wrong. You -are- the one I have been waiting for sweetie...and I'm the one you've been waiting for too. You just don't know it yet." With a pleased little smile Aphrodite scooted herself up nice and close, so she could speak in a secretive confidential manner to the boy."Haven't you ever wondered if this is all there is for you? Haven't you ever felt like...there should be more." Her voice lowers to a softer and more seductive tone as she smiles at Simon. "Don't you feel like your everyday life is a little boring...lacking something? I know what it is..."

"If you're the one coming to me," he rolled his eyes, trying not to get into a foul mood so early in the morning, "Then why have I got no chance?" He stared at her puzzled thinking that this cute face might just be a little bit off. Maybe was drunk or coming off some high, but it wasn't really quite that. "So I am the one you're looking for..." Now he was really confused. "Have we met?" This lady was sounding crazier, and creepier by the minute. She touched his shoulder, looking him in the eye. What was this lady up to? Then she went on about life lacking something and he couldn't help by agree. "I guess so..." He turned it back to her, "But are you sure that my life is just missing you?" He did his best to hold back a laugh.

As was her nature, Aphrodite chose to utterly ignore the silly boys questions. Of course he had no chance with someone as super wonderful as herself! It was sad to a degree when the little ones couldn't tell that though. Aphrodite turned her head a little and glanced into the bush that she had tossed her churro just moments before. She could see a flash of pink within, and there came a dog like growl followed by the crisp crunching sound of something firm and deep fried being devoured. "Oh cutie. your better hold onto those sweet little pick up lines for someone else, I'm sure they will come in very handy in your near future." With a bat of her eye, Aphrodite leaned in to whisper into Simons ear. "Besides. I may just be the villain in your story." With a flutter of her pink gown, Aphrodite sprang to her feet. She glanced down at Simon and pointed with one ever so perfectly manicured finger towards the bushes. "The answer to your lackluster life is just beyond the greens my boy! Adventure! Danger! Excitement! Mystery!" She paused and placed a finger to her lips. "Oh...and a little death if your not careful. I'd really suggest you change now before your immediate battle."

Simon frowned. Obviously this woman didn't know what she was talking about. His pick up likes worked on everyone. Well, than again.... "Noted..." He turned to peek curiously into the bush. This lady was creepy. Simon couldn't even call it kinky. She was just plain weird. "Got some kind a pet in there?" Now she was too close for comfort. "Villain? What the hell are you talking about?" He watched as she stood, his dark eyes not missing a beat. Danger? Excitement? Death? There was seriously something wrong with her. "What do you mean change? What battle?" He stood, looking down at her, cautious of the growling bush.

Well? What was he waiting for? If he kept dilly dallying he was going to be a snack! Aphrodite placed her hands on her hips and tapped her foot on the ground. "Oh sweetie. That's no pet at all. That's your challenge!" Another growl came from the bush, and with a trembling of the leaves something pink and fluffy burst out from the bushes. With large wild eyes and a mouth far too big for it's body, the pink chompah turned it's gaze upon Simon. The shredded remains of a churro wrapper flutters upon one of it's lower teeth.
Aphrodite looked expectantly at Simon. "Well? It's time!" She insisted. "All you need you already have within you. All you need to do is reach for that part of you that feels different and let it come out!" She smiled brightly at him, then paused. Hmmm.... "I have not given you your beacon yet! Silly me!" She exclaimed with a snap of her fingers. Aphrodite looked Simon over slowly, then leaned forwards to lightly tap her finger against his shoulder. "There we go! That should do it!"

"Ok..." He backed away from her a bit. "I'm not sure what you're on but this is all just.... weird." He jumped as a pink thing emerged from the bushes growling. A churro wrapper still stuck in its teeth. "And now you're trying to sick your..." He looked the thing over. It was nothing he had ever seen before. "Pet on me?" Who would want that thing for a pet. Simon wasn't sure of what to make of the situation. There was this crazy lady, this pink thing, and she expected him to fight it?
Simon was startled when the woman touched his shoulder. "What are you doing?" He brushed off his sleeve. "What exactly did you give me?" He looked at her, about to ask another question before a searing pain took over his left shoulder. He held it, wincing, turning to the woman. "What the hell did you do to me?" The pain subsided a moment later but Simon couldn't see the resulting crescent tattoo left on his shoulder.
"Did you enjoy that?" He sneered, thinking that she may have put some chemical on him. And that thing was still snarling menacingly at him. There was so much going on, he closed his eyes and put his hands over his ears wishing that he had never met that woman and her strange dog. Then he felt... Different. Was this what she was talking about? Might as well play along. He reached down, then... Thought it was silly. He opened his eyes to tell that woman off when he noticed a faint pale blue glow emitting from his body. He was too stunned to say anything. Water crept in next swirling around him to complete the change. "Lady....." He looked himself over. "What the hell did you do to me."

Simon's transformation looked a bit...watery. Aphrodite still smiled. Clearly he was having a easier time changing then some of the others she'd found...but goodness was he a bit dense! "Oh darling. I didn't do anything to you! This magic was always in you. All I've done is help you access it. Now... Shoo! Go have some fun and stop looking so grumpy! It'll give you wrinkles." She smiled as she offered up what seemed to her wonderful encouragement and advice.
Aphrodite wandered a few steps away and watched as the Chompah gave nother fierce growl.
With the now transformed magical boy present, the beast had a clear target. It's eyes glittered with pure malevolence as it gave a snarl. It bounced forwards a few steps towards Simon, then snapped it's teeth at him. "Grrrroooowr!"

"Magic!?" He waved his hands in the air. "Magic is a thing that isn't real!" He would have laughed about the wrinkles comment if he wasn't so angry. "That has nothing to do with the situation at hand." He calmed his voice but he was still freaked out. "He don't walk away!" He stretched his hand to reach for her when a solid item sparkled into his grasp. He almost dropped it. Simon was at a lost for words.... Maybe this crazy lady wasn't that crazy after all.
"Uh how did this happen?" The silver sickle glistened in the light of the moon. Like it had been bestowed upon him from the moon itself. He was abruptly jolted from his thoughts as that fluffy thing came bouncing towards him. It was obviously here to hurt him... The sharp teeth were menacing . "Just go away will you!?" He took a swing at the beast with his sickle trying to scare it off. The blade released a thin, sharp slash of water at the pink fluffy thing.

Isn't real? Oh how quick the boy was about to learn! Aphrodite withdrew from the scene of the battle. Her eyes danced with delight as Simon would erupt in anger, then confusion. Such a silly boy! She did not offer anymore encouragement or direction now though. If the boy was going to survive, he had to do it on his own, and this was the real true moment of truth! It was now time for him to glow! Or shine...or whatever thing he wanted to do. This was all him now!
The Chompah did not seem to be deterred in the least at the appearance of Simon's magical scythe. His' eyes narrowed, and if nothing else it seemed to grow far more aggressive. The chompah began to charge at the same moment Simon swung his scythe. The sharp slash of water caught it right in the open mouth. It made a small gurgling sound, then toppled to one side as the attack would cut it clean in half.
Off to the side Aphrodite gave a happy little laugh. She clapped her hands. "Bravo! What a wonderful start! Oh your going to do so well, I can just tell! Now..." Her hand lifted and she wagged her finger at him. "You best stay on guard boy. You've got your work cut out for you. There are more of those beasties out there...and others just like you. Only they aren't going to be quiet so nice."

Simon sank to his knees. He wasn't sure what just happened. That little fluffy thing just stopped and split in half. Was that his doing? The waster came up again, changing him back with a low glow before leaving him weak. And why wouldn't he be? He was mentally exhausted for his ordeal. This woman, that fluffy think, the water, his... Powers? Magic? Isn't that supposed to be make believe? Stories for children.....
He sighed, struggling to get up. It felt like the weight of the world was on his shoulders. His shoulder? He needed to check what that woman had done to his shoulder. The burning wasn't there, but something must have been left. "There are more?" Just what he needed to know. More of those fuzzy things and more people running around in costumes with powers. "I have to watch out for them then..." He couldn't believe he was accepting it so calmly. This was all so new... All so strange.

Simon was slowly working his way mentally through what had happened..which was, to say the least, terribly boring! Aphrodite watched as he sank to his knee's and changed back. Oh..she was sure he'd get along fine. A strong smart boy like him would have this all figured out in no time!
When Simon would speak aloud, he would receive no answer from Aphrodite. Her work here was done! Which meant she was off and onto the hunt for her next target! These beacons were not going to deliver themselves after all! In addition she knew she had to reach those with magical potential before the Other one did. So, with a little flash of her pink hair, Aphrodite would vanish around the corner of a building. Simon was already the furthest thing from her mind.
