So I have my availability down at my work as such:
Saturday: 7a to 11p
Sunday: 7a to 11p
Monday: 7a to 11p
Tuesday: 7a to 11p
Wednesday: 7a to 11p
Thursday: 7a to 7p
Friday: 7a to 5p
Guess who keeps getting scheduled on Thursday and Friday nights?
If you guessed my coworker, you'd be wrong!
For the 7th consecutive week, I have been scheduled those nights. And since our truck night has changed, I am forced to work this Thursday. (Our truck nights was Wednesday nights but it moves one day back for any holiday.) I was able to trade with my coworker K for the past 6 weeks for his 10a to 5p shift. (He hates working mornings after unloading truck)
But since my other coworker has called off tomorrow (faking a special holiday to bang her ex boyfriend), I can't not work. So all my previous plans are officially screwed. I usually hang out with friends on Thursday nights to play kickball.
And I'm scheduled Friday night. I already told my store manager that I had plans (made three weeks in advance! My friend Anne is flying in from Boston for the first time in two years and the last time for three years) and I will not be showing up for that scheduled shift. And I finally snapped and told him that if I am scheduled on Thursdays after 7p, I also won't be showing up. I have my availability and I'm sticking to it!
I mean, I come in when they need coverage for shifts that other people can't cover yet I'm looked at like I'm the bad guy because I ask for two nights off. Everyone else has like 4 to 5 shifts they can't work yet I ask for two and it's the end of the world.
Yes, I don't have school or kids but that doesn't mean I lack a social life.
