I like to get art of each of my characters and I put them in one folder. So when i miss the character I can go back and look at it. I like to change my character up (as if you couldnt tell) and have fun making characters depending on the theme of the event. Some times I like to be Lola and seduce all the guests and fellow hosts. Some times I want to pull on my haunt experience and be a Dolly character. Sometimes I want to be the rocker chick that just doesnt give a crap... until she's alone. Plus that would sorely lower the type of themes we could do. We couldnt do anything that wouldnt fit into our characters. If we did the host club thing I'd probably use Lola as my character and really I cant Lola being all too awesome in a sea themed ball sweatdrop Her high heels would get stuck EVERYWHERE! Although I DO think we could possibly do BOTH! Everyone picks a perm character and we allow the ability to also make a new one for certain events. Cause lets face it we grow every year. We cant have all of these people constantly be the same characters plus what if two popular characters get put in different rooms from each other? So I think if you have an idea for a different character you can use it. Ok so lets go with last year or a halloween even. Say my PERM character is Lola but I REALLY like the wanted to be dolly for halloween. I would fill out a TEMP character lay out for that one event.
Or we could do it Annual ball is when all the PERMS come out and the smaller events is when we can do either...just some thoughts

♥ changing characters! i just think it would give us more freedom to experiment with different characters and personalities, as well as avatars.
on the subject of avatars, i have a friend who makes the most gorgeous gold shop avatars, so i'm sure she'd not mind making anyone who wants a more inexpensive avatar one!

I have seen this mentioned more than once now and I'm perplexed by the suggestion; permanent characters would limit your themes? I'm not sure how this would work. Considering all the themes are going to be holidays, what is to stop the same person from attending multiple holiday parties? I go to Halloween parties, and I also go to Christmas parties, and I also go to Valentine's parties... I'm sure I'm not the only person who does this.

If anything, making a character specific to a holiday without planning on using that character for another is far more restricting than creating one versatile and dynamic character.

However, there is entertainment value in having the same character engage in different situations. It's one thing to have a character that fits into their environment flawlessly, a goth chick at a halloween party, for example, but how much more entertaining is it to have that same goth chick then experiencing the "fish out of water" effect once she'd obligated to attend a Valentine's party? It's not only entertaining and amusing for guests and fellow hosts, but it's a demonstration on your ability as a role-player to adapt, as well.

This would also suit any Host Club members that were going to be a part of the role-play mentorship and sponsoring thread since you won't necessarily be able to role-play as a character that perfectly suits your likes and dislikes. If we're volunteering for other role-plays then we'll need to adapt to someone else's world.

That said, I think the idea of the Breakfast Club (movie) best described how I had originally envisioned the Host Club. All different characters based on all of your lovely unique styles and personalities brought together by one purpose (maybe you've all been volunteered by your school headmaster to form a social networking club, or maybe you all signed up for a local "meet & greet" online to meet local teens with similar interests, or any other idea you all come up with.) The reason you're together is just a plot device - the point is that it's a literal Host Club (hence the name, after all) and each event is a different party in a different place that the Host Club has been invited to attend.

This does not mean that you can't get wild and crazy with the event parties! Why not have the Host Club invited to a Haunted Mansion, the owner being Dracula, no less, and attend for a week? Why not have Mermaids inviting the Host Club to luau's on the beach, or Yeti's calling the Host Club over for a winter wonderland of fun and adventure? Think outside the box on this one and there is no limitation! And, for those of you who just can't wrap your head around the idea of your character fitting into all sorts of situations, then there can always be the option of playing one of the NPCs in the event. Again, drawing from the Haunted Mansion idea, someone could choose to play Dracula instead of their Host character, if they didn't want to play both.

Perhaps that is a better illustration of the original idea.
