Although she is beautiful and well off being the daughter of a successful writer, Heather feels she is invisible at times. When she was a young child, her mother passed on due to a sickness and she quickly became daddy's little girl. As a child it was easy to play with toys and use her imagination to amuse herself while her father wrote. As she grew older, entertaining herself became more difficult and daddy's little girl was now daddy's little annoyance. Although her father loves her dearly and takes good care of her, she feels unimportant to him as he often forgets her in favor of his writing.
When she received Narcissus, her life changed drastically. He's constantly trying to break her from her quiet bubble of protection, pushing her to be the lady he knows she can be. But Heather finds herself embarrassed by the attention from him and others around them, as his attempts to encourage her are ill-timed or not thought out completely.

Rosemary passed away due to a sickness when Heather was 2. She doesn't remember her mother very well, and her father will often remind her of her mother with stories of the past. She loves these stories and learning about the mother she never knew. She does get jealous of other girls, especially if she sees them walking around with their mothers.

Joseph is an older gentleman who is a renowned author. He's best known for his children's stories as he used his daughter for inspiration for a large part of his writing career. Now that he is getting older, his focus is finally shifting from writing to properly caring for the emotional needs of his daughter... and to find her a suitable husband. He wants nothing but the best for his little girl.

Although he has Heather's well being and interests on his mind, he often forgets not to put himself before her. For instance, he hates the rain and Heather loves it. He refuses to step under the falling water no matter how much Heather begs him. Rain means mud and mud easily get stuck in your hooves and then your coat gets matted and Heather isn't the best at brushing out his coat to make it shine. So to prevent a the headache he simply believes not going out is a better option than doing as Heather wants.
But he really is thinking about her. He wants his chosen to have a higher self-esteem and he prompts her to get out of her comfort zone. Like the time he nudged her towards what he assumed was an attractive male about her age. Although Heather put up some resistance and refused, he insisted! How would she warm up to anyone if she never tried? One good shove with his nose had the girl stumbling forward. It's a shame she never made it to the man. Stumbling into him would have been a lot more charming than falling in front of him... They'd have to work on it and get it right next time!
