This is definitely on my to-go list. It's nice to be able to step out of a city and find green.
I think the vibe would be completely different if we'd gone there outside of the fringe festival and summer. Aside from that, Edinburgh is such a picturesque city! And they have such a strong literary heritage - I think their international book festival is on at the same time as the fringe festival.
We actually visited a LOT of parks on our trip. It's the sort of thing that you just don't take as much advantage as you should in your home town.
sweatdrop I mean, the Melbourne botanic gardens are a 15min walk from my office in the middle of the city, and Kav's place is a 10min drive from the forest.
The Londoners definitely know how to enjoy their parks - they were PACKED as soon as there was a glimpse of sunlight. I'm sure I read that 40% or some other ridiculously large amount of London is covered in parks. I actually really liked the park in Madrid - they have a giant boating lake which was really peaceful to sit and watch.
