Character Name: Chiorli (Shee-OR-lee)
Nicknames: None atm
Dust Essence: FlaxGender: Female
Powers: Offensive and healing
For offensive - given the linen connection, I was thinking something thread or rope based.
For healing - I had two in mind, one to do with materializing linen bandages which, when used, keep infection at bay and help the wound to heal a little faster, and another, more direct method (since flax is used in medicines) where she can heal things very quickly (minutes), but gets steadily weaker as she does so. With the latter, it'd be along the lines of scrape=dizzy, cut needing stitches=not quite blacking out as a child, and gets better as she gets older. Neither healing ability would she be able to use on herself.
Appearance: Chiorli is short for her age and rather pale, with freckles generously dashed across her nose, cheeks, and arms, as readily visible as flax seed scattered across raw bread dough. Her hair clearly wanted to be fiery red and curly, but her essence is influencing it towards straight and blonde ('flaxen'). and the end result is quite interesting. For the most part it is a red-gold a little too dark to be called strawberry blonde, but towards the ends where her essence has had longer to work, it is quite staright and golden, while at the top, all the shorter bits (including her bangs) are fiery red and thoroughly curly. She normally keeps it in a long braid so it doesn't fall into her baking, but its strange nature means that odd bits keep escaping the braid, especially near the top. One of her eyes is as blue as flax flowers, the other as green as the stalk. Chiorli is quite skinny now, as her youthful exuberance quickly burns up any extra calories, but if she keeps sampling her baking at this rate, she'll be pudgy by adulthood.
As for clothes, as a child Chiorli could care less what she wears for the most part, so it's generally whatever her guardian manages to stuff her into. The one exception is that she never feels quite right without an apron of some sort on.
Distinguishing Features: Her hair probably qualifies as unusual XD And she's always wearing an apron, usually linen. Beyond that, the only time she's
not splashed with flour everywhere is right after a bath. Beyond that, I don't know yet...it seems like she shouldn't look so ordinary, but I can't think of anything more that's appropriate to essence and character.
Personality: Kind, stubborn, loyal, generous, with a red-head's quick temper - all of these are facets of Chiorli's personality, but like anyone else, it's not that simple. She likes people in general, and always assumes someone is a good person from the start, no matter how surly. That said, if someone DOES manage to earn her dislike (usually by hurting someone she cares about), it's just about impossible to get rid of - you've betrayed her trust, and she does not take that lightly.
She runs and plays with others like any child, but her love of baking shows even there - she always brings along some new cookie or pastry for her friends - and anyone else she encounters - to try. There's nothing she loves more than the look on someone's face when they are truly enjoying her baking.
While she likes and trusts pretty much anyone, she still has a circle of people so close she considers them family - Talli, of course, and her closest friends. To those people she is loyal to a fault - if she perceives an insult to one of them, she hotly defends them with a sharp tongue.
Once Chiorli develops an opinion about anything or anyone, she holds to it like life itself. While otherwise intelligent for her age, it seems to be impossible for her to let contrary input from others into her head once she gets stubborn about something - at least not immediately. She often realizes when she's wrong a few days later though, and then becomes consumed with guilt for yelling at and insulting whoever the other party was, and will run in tears to apologize.
Chiorli tends to be generous to the point of self-sacrifice, much to Talli's dismay, given that they barely get by. If she sees someone hungry, she'll give them her own food, even if it means she gets nothing to eat that day. Same thing with money. There are very few possessions she values too much to give away or share, if someone else needs them more - and those few things, she is intensely possessive of. Part of this is the naivete of youth and will lessen as she gets older, but mostly she just has a very generous personality - she would feel intensely guilty about eating if she knew of someone else nearby who was going hungry.
Likes: Baking! Cooking, to a lesser extent...helping others, learning new recipes, inventing new recipes, reading/hearing stories, spinning, weaving
Dislikes: Farming, lessons, others getting hurt, being unable to help someone who could use her help.
Hobbies: Baking and coming up with new recipes!
Anything Else: Found in flax field? Possibly reaches stage 3 as a result of being packed in linen fiber to keep it safe.
