You may not be mine You may not know You may not understand You may only be a dog You may be in pain But I'll miss you I cared for you I helped you I watched you when no one else could I fed you You were mine You knew me Unlike many others I cared for you So now that you are leaving me My four legged friend I pray for you You were good You were loved I want to see you again In another world In another life In some other way I want you to make the journey safe Take Cheron's boat Across the river Styx To the place where you cross over Where you cross from the underworld To the cloudy sky Where we will one day meet May you be protected And may your soul be reborn Let me see your smile Even after you have left this world May you always know That I cared for you Like you were my own Because to me You were You licked the tears off my face When I was sad But now you cannot So I say to you You deserved more than you had So goodbye crying

aww yeah... i lost my doggy last summer =... but as for the poem, i think that it was a little lengthy, i think you could slim it down some, and still get your point across

The dog wasn't really mine she was my neighbors but I took care of her a lot when they went out of town. I went for lengthy cause I was sad and wanted to get it all out. (plus I like getting the point across repeatedly it's just how I write)
