"This is my second year," Steven replied, helping himself to some desert. "But last year they didn't say anything about the Hot Springs."
"Rhi," she replied. Arching an eyebrow at Ell's knowledge of foreign schools, Rhi said, "Yes, but that hat doesn't usually attack the students." Spotting some Nutella fudge, she quickly grabbed up a few pieces.
"We should be beaters," Andie said, looking at her twin.
"Whacking balls at people with sticks? Absolutely!" Angie replied.
"Well, you can't be any worse than some of the people we've had in the past," Ryu said, helping himself to some Rocky Road.
"No, it's okay," Morgan replied in regards to Chase hiding his leg. "That's why I'm trying to read everything I can to catch up with those who already know."

"Interesting... " Martin mumbled. Something new was in the Hot Springs? Already, he was feeling less inhibited by the pressure of his family, and he wanted to figure out this new mystery. He looked around, and finally settled on a piece of strawberry pie and loaded rocky road ice cream on top of it.
"Well, it's nice to meet you Rhi." Ell said, nice and proper-like. "Maybe it's cursed?" she shrugged, and then piled vanilla butterscotch ice cream into a bowl and shook some rainbow sprinkles on it.
Eric frowned. "No, Rhi's right. The totems are usually playful, not aggressive. I doubt the totem is cursed... but something's up for certain." Eric grabbed a slice of triple layer chocolate cake and took a few bites thoughtfully.
Rosie nodded to Ryu's comment as she took a small slice of apple pie. While she did favor a more mexican cuisine, there was something about apple pie that was just nice. "I'm sure we'll have a great team this year. We'll probably win the Torbaen Cup!" She was, of course, counting on herself being a seeker or a keeper- she prided herself on being good at both positions.
"Really? Wow... I barely had a chance to get my books before showing up. Haven't had a chance to figure out anything yet." Chase responded, looking awkwardly over at the book Morgan was reading, as if glancing over upside-down would catch him up to anything she'd learnt so far.
Manuel huffed. "You give yourselves too little credit, honestly. There's a reason you have to take Magic History lessons, and also why Muggle Studies are required. Everyone should have a rounded understanding of both worlds, no matter which they started off in. At least, that's what the professors say. Over and over again, all year long." Manuel sighed, and helped himself to a few stray cookies.
Chase noticed the desserts finally, but he was really starting to feel drowsy and weird- probably that blood loss from earlier? He didn't know it, but he was turning awfully pale.
((ooc: sorry, nothing new for the staff table just yet... am working on reacquainting myself with the students first)

(I've got nothing else from Steven or the twins. They're stuffing their faces)
"This is going to be an interesting year for sure," Rhi said. Looking up at the staff table, she said, "I wonder if Professor Keo being here is what caused the totems to react somehow? Probably a shot in the dark."
Looks at Manuel then back at her book, "Seeing the Muggle world through the eyes of wizards will be interesting."

(ooc: well, we'll get this moving along more quickly, then...)
Eric looked up at the new professor that Rhi mentioned. Possible that she had an effect on the totem. But wasn't she a Hogwarts graduate? She had no current relation to the totem that he knew of. But this was only his second year actually watching the sorting- what did he really know? Not much. He just looked back over to Rhi and shrugged, as he ate more dessert.
Ell was trying to prevent brainfreeze as Rhi suggested it was the new professor. From what she knew about spells and interferences (and from her hair, that was obviously significant), it was just as likely it was the students themselves.
Chase grinned as Morgan made an excellent point. He was sure that was one class he'd have no problems with. Maybe he and Morgan could tell the professor a thing or two about the Muggle world. Of course, he didn't stop to consider how many other students had thought the same... or how much the professor himself/herself knew about the Muggle world anyways. His thoughts wandered, and he realized eventually that the room was spinning. He turned to try to flag that nurse-man-wizard-guy, and slid partway off the bench!
Kuptig was keeping one eye on the injured student throughout the entire dinner, and had noticed his coloration fading moments ago. He was already out of his seat when the boy almost fell off the bench just trying to turn and raise an arm. He hurried to the boy's side.
"All right, that's quite enough revelrie for you. Off to the Infirmary with you." he said, scooping the first year into his arms. "You should still be able to make it to your classes in the morning." he said, before he nodded back to Headmaster McArnold, and left the Hall.
Realizing that even dessert had had its time, Headmaster McArnold stood up again, and addressed the students briefly. "I bid you all a good evening, and a wonderfully magical tomorrow." And with this, he and some of the staff members began to leave the Hall, and some older students began directing first years to their dormatories.

(( Not much for the students to do except play follow the leader ))
Standing and stretching, Rhi glanced around to make sure the first years were all following behind her. While the prefects were doing a fine job, she just wanted to make sure no one got left behind.
Jumping to their feet, the twins fell in line with the other first years to follow the older students.
Getting to his feet, Ryu matched his pace to Rosie. "So what do you think of this year's bunch?"
Getting up, Steven followed the rest of his house.
With her nose still in her book, Morgan deftly climbed off the bench and followed her house.
"Are you just going to sit there all night?" Kyra asked as she got up
"Just savoring my dinner," n** replied with a grin.
"You ate too much didn't you?" Kyra asked with a roll of her eyes.
"It's a distinct possibility that I need to let it settle before I can move," n** agreed. "Don't let me slow you up."
Kyra laughed. "Alright. See you tomorrow morning."
