You know I'm not going to lie, it angers me when I hear about people not paying taxes.
I don't care if it's a church or non profit organization.
If I have to pay you should too.
I also hate how I see all these nice churches that look really ritzy but then they talk about starving people and donating to the homeless.
Instead of building a fancy church go give that money to someone who needs it, you don't need a fancy building to talk about God.

Church's are a nonprofit organization. They only make money through donations. If the goverment were to tax churches then they would have to tax all nonprofit organizations. Those organizations include Salvation Army, food banks, women shelters, all charities, ect. By taxing such places it would take away money from those organizations that should be helping people. When people were donating to charities to help those in Haiti all that would have been taxed if that idea was established. Think of the outrage that would cause when people are donating to help others and finding out not all of it was going to help others but it would go to goverment.

Now on to the second one. The church is what kept the idea of democracy alive. A lot of the ideas of voting are based on that found in the church. So saying that the church shouldn't have anything to do with a process based on it is ridiculous.

In other words the people that made those don't have a single idea about how things work.

I'm fine with church tax exemptions as a non-profit organization. I do agree it's rather bothersome how lavish and rich some of the churches can be, when the mission is about helping others in need. Seems odd I guess. Granted, some of the more wealthy churches have higher output towards helping those in need. So I guess there's balance in that. And I'm told the image of the church often plays a role in how others accept or decline working with the church.

Churches are nonprofit organizations but they need to start actually DOING SOMETHING!!! The church needs to get out there and start doing stuff. Christ came and saved us so that we could go and tell others about Him. If we just sit here in our little box we don't get anything done. No one meets Christ. Christ said freely you have received, now freely give. We need to start doing something with the money that we save from not paying taxes. Start helping pay for missions trips. My church does tons of missions trips and outreaches. If every church started reaching out to the community around them then the Body of Christ can get moving. The church has become paralyzed. Christ is trying to get us to move and start working but we just sit there and we don't do what Christ calls us to do.
