Username: desdamin
Character Name: Jane Geller
Alias(es): Light Wave

Physical Description: A small and lithe girl with cold and intense brown eyes. She wears her blonde hair in a functional bob and is rarely seen not wearing her Light Suit. When she does where street clothes, they are often form-fitting and functional or lab gear. She seems to favor white and gold, if she's wearing stand-out colors, or earth tones otherwise.
Personality Description: Somewhat condescending and sarcastic, she views heroes as fools who, even if they do manage to succeed, end up ultimately with nothing. She is extremely skeptical of honor and virtue and doesn't believe in life after death. Her primary motivations are selfish in nature. She isn't cruel, however. If someone isn't in her way, she's likely to simply ignore them. If angry, she's more likely to kill you than torture you... unless you really piss her off. She's not immoral, necessarily... more nihilistic.

Age: 17
Height: 5' 2"
Weight: 108 lbs

Equipment: She uses a series of self-created equipment that primarily uses the same light-manipulating technology that she's become somewhat expert in. These include the following...

-Light Suit Prototype: The Light Suit that she has created is a marvel of fiber optics and crystal technology that utilizes no metal whatsoever in its construction. It is solar powered and runs off of a battery that constantly recharges, when there is light present, though at a fairly slow rate. The life of the battery is probably the suit's primary weakness, as Jane can run out of power very quickly, if she were to use the suit's abilities recklessly. This is an issue that she is working to resolve.

-Light Cycle: An extremely light-weight and completely silent motorcycle which, like the Light Suit, contains no metal in its construction. It too is solar powered and recharges slowly when exposed to light. This device contains a much larger battery than the Light Suit, however, and it can be ridden continually for several days before it needs to recharge. It also contains a stealth mode which bends the light around it and its passenger, making them effectively invisible, something her suit can do as well. It can also go into a turbo mode, utilizing light to provide thrust for itself, something her suit can do as well. It may not be very large, but it's agile and silent and difficult to follow and Light Wave is working on making it fly.

-Light Goggles: A pair of goggles which allow Light Wave to perceive most any type of light. They can also be used to hack into visual networks such as security cameras or robotic eyes wirelessly, if they have wireless capabilities, or through hardwiring and cable, if necessary. They also provide statistical and targeting data, record picture and video, and can send information wirelessly. Light Wave is working to make contacts of comparable use, though she has not figured out how.

Powers: Light Wave's powers stem from her suit. On her own, she has no real super abilities other than some genius. Her suit's powers are as follows...

-Photokinesis: Light Wave has the power and ability to freely control and manipulate light for a variety of purposes. She can bend the light around her to become invisible, generate blasts of white glowing energy, create white glowing force fields and for thrust. Due to the constraints of her battery life, she rarely uses the suit to fly, but can use it to speed herself up or provide herself with a boost, when needed. By mentally repulsing photons, Light can create areas of complete darkness. Light can also drain ambient light in any area.

-Energy Absorption is the ability of an individual to absorb varying waves of energy into their body for a variety of purposes. In many cases, this energy can also be expelled for offensive attack or visual effect. Superman absorbs yellow ultraviolet radiation in order to replenish his Kryptonian cells. Firestorm can absorb thermal energy and rechannel it as concentrated atomic blasts.

Abilities:

-Highly Intelligent
-Proficient Martial Artist
-Proficient Gymnast
-Expert in robotics, physics, and engineering

Biography: Before she was a criminal, Jane Gellar was a fairly typical highschool student. Her family was upper-middle class and both parents had come from nothing. Ever since her early childhood, her parents had done everything they could to provide her with all the opportunities that she'd never had, hiring the best tutors, pushing her to learn musical instruments, dance classes, foreign languages, travelling all across the world... And the pace did not let up. By the time she was in highschool, she had countless academic awards, had skipped three grades, was on the varsity cheerleading squad, academic decathlon team, ran varsity track, cross-country, a prominent member of the debate team, and was always at the head of the class. And yet, Jane was usually alone. Most other students found her intimidating and awfully quiet. The truth was nobody really knew her. She went through the days speaking rarely and looking more contemplative than anything else.

Sure she'd work hard and harder than anyone else, but ultimately she found herself confronted with the question over and over again... what was it all for? She asked her parents, and they simply didn't understand. What did she mean what was it all for? She was getting opportunities that they could only have dreamed about growing up... and it seemed like she didn't even really want them. Her junior year, she was twelve years old, and her parents began signing her up for supplementary college courses at Metropolis University through a special program for geniuses hosted by StarLabs.

Eventually, she ended up studying under a Doctor Isaac Finlay, a young scientist whose father had made several huge advances in the field of photon studies. In fact it was his father's tragic death in a lab accident that had caused the creation of a powerful supervillain by the name of Dr. Light. Intrigued, Jane endeavored to learn as much as she could from the young doctor Finlay.

In the end, she managed to convince him to help her build another light suit using his father's old notes. The work was good. Something about it made her feel... almost powerful... as if she was taking control of her own life. For three years they worked on the suit. She had graduated by then and was attending Metropolis U working towards a triple major in physics, engineering, and robotics, almost at the end of her academic run.

On the night of her graduation, she broke into Dr. Finlay's home and stole the suit, battering him in the process and leaving him a mess on the floor. Before she left, she said to him, "thank you for the help, doctor. I... finally understand. These three years I... My life belongs to me."

Since then, she has mostly stolen high-end technology and occasionally offered her services in exchange for money. She has a policy never to work under anyone and she never works with a partner. So far, she's been able to remain undetected by the authorities, to her knowledge, by staying completely unseen, something her suit and equipment have made her adept at...
