Takoda had come to the conclusion that perhaps he should practice with his magic, sine the battle with the beast he was unsure of his strengths or if at all the magic he had used during the battle had been a complete fluke. Takoda was pretty sure it had been a fluke and so didn't trust that in their next encounter he would be of any use.

Speaking with one of the elders he voiced his concern and they suggested that he do a practice battle with another one of the tribe, the idea of fighting another of his own kind...was worrisome. A beast was one thing, but other people? Still it was only practice and he could always mend them both up when finished. The thought was hardly encouraging when he went to meet up with his opponent.

Giving the other an awkward smile he offered a little wave. "Good Luck!" He managed to say not sure what else he should say in such a circumstance. Having never met the other before it felt odd to ask his opponent his name before the battle. Looking him over he noted he was using a spear, a range weapon and it would be a good idea if Takoda ...stayed away from it.

But he could only fight with range...so that wouldn't be a problem until the other got close enough. "O..kay..um...I'..ll start.." he stammered, taking a breath and then wielding his earth magic silently willed a clump of dirt over to his opponent side.

The other Shifter watched his opponent warily. Takoda was a very…. interesting subject, in the Lancer’s mind. He had seen the Healer around Jauhar on occasion, had heard of the way he feared the bugs that dominated their region. He had been shocked to know that the man would be accompanying them on their journey across Tendaji. It had amazed the Lancer even more, witnessing his magical prowess in the cave with the Legendary Creature.

When the Elders had mentioned that Takoda was searching for a training partner, he jumped at the opportunity. Clearly, he had underestimated the Healer.

The man grinned. ”Good luck to you too.” He watched curiously as Takoda stammered before lobbing a clump of dirt in his direction.

The Lancer winced as the dirt scraped across his shoulder, but the hit didn’t slow him down. He had already begun to move, spear in hand. This was only a spar, and so his intention was not to injure Takoda. He turned around his spear, aiming to hit the other Shifter with the blunt end of the weapon.

Takoda was glad for the other to be as willing for him to win as he was to his opponent, but even so he hadn't expected the other to come charging forward, though with a spear what should he of expected?? This wasn't going to be a range battle.

Takoda gave a squeak as the other shifter rushed towards brushing off his attack like it had been only a mild nuisance than anything. To be honest he was very unsure about fighting another person and perhaps he was pulling his hits...or maybe the battle with the beast in the cave had just been...lucky.

Feeling the butt of the spear hit him the healer staggered back, it really hurt! Being this was only the second time he had ever been in battle the poor shifter stumbled trying to get a bit more distance between him and his adversary willing water out of the air and aiming it directly at the others face. Hoping for more of a distraction than any real pain as he tried to get back his footing.

The man grinned as his blow landed and went to strike again. However, just as he swung his spear, a blast of water struck him directly in the face.

The Lancer shook his head, blinded briefly by the impact. He could feel his spear connect with something, but just what it was, he couldn’t be positive. It had clearly hit with much less force than his previous attack as well.

The man jumped back and managed to wipe the water from his face with his arm before pulling his spear back up, back into a battle stance. ”Nice one.” He chuckled, grinning broadly.

Takoda had scurried as best as he could away from the spear wielder but he froze when he heard the comment of doing a 'nice job'. Blinking he looked to where he had given the spear wielder a face full of water. He gave a lopsided grin and rubbed his shoulder where the other had hit him with the butt of his spear.

"You landed a ..g..good hit...as well.." Takoda murmured as she sighed, feeling a bit more comfortable with this battle, he supposed he realized now that this was just..a mock battle. No one was going to die...they were just practicing their moves.

With this more relaxed feeling he smiled and tried to face his opponent, wishing to learn his comrades name but figured he could always ask after they were done.

"O..kay time to try ..this again." He stated mostly to himself this time he lifted his hands into the air, the ground beneath his opponents feet shoot upwards, though not anything to send him flying but to certainly try to get him to loose his balance.

The man smiled at Takoda’s compliment, but the moment didn’t last long. He felt the earth rumbling beneath him and suddenly, his feet were no longer on the ground. Well, the ground was no longer on the ground.

The lifted slab of earth shifted and the Lancer felt himself falling off balance, falling to the ground with surprising force. A loud ”Oomph” was forced from between his lips as he pulled himself hurriedly back to his feet. Laughing gently, he shook his head, before running at Takoda once more.

He swung his spear, blunt-end facing out, of course, once again in the Healer’s direction. Even though his weapon certainly had a longer range than some, this magic stuff was pretty impressive.

Okay so he finally managed to get a good hit, but the guy seemed to shake it off and come charging towards him once again, giving another squeak the healer too another blow, it wasn't as hard as the first one he had received but he knew he was going to be awfully bruised by the end of this battle.

Taking a couple steps backwards he always felt terrible to attack the other shifter unless it was a fairly weak attack. Figuring that splashing the spear wielder again in the face could cause no harm, if distract him yet again.

Takoda felt like he was repeating himself using the same tactic twice, but right now he wasn't sure what else to do, fighting with magic had so many possibilities but the shifter just didn't like the idea of hurting others with it.

Takoda's conscience was certainly a nice trait. Unfortunately, even though it was merely a practice battle, the Lancer had come to win. He wanted to prove to himself that he hadn't been wrong in assuming that he was stronger than the Healer, despite his impressive skills under stress, in the cave of the Legendary Creature.

The man, once again, set off at a charge towards Takoda and once again, he found himself momentarily blinded by a splash of water directly in his eyes.

The Lancer grimaced, but he was already close enough to launch another attack. He swept his spear nearer the ground, hoping to knock out Takoda's feet, before taking the time to step back and wipe off his face once again.

Another smack from the blunt end of the spear and the shifter cringed. He felt the bruises already beginning to blossom under the hits he had endured. This latest hit had been a powerful blow and he staggered backwards stumbling over his two feet at he went. He was getting tired, and this was all too stressful for him.

Takoda aimed some earth to the other shifters hand hoping to get him to drop the weapon, but he found trying to physically hurt someone on purpose just wasn't in him. This was also the first time he had used him magic so frequently and the mental exhaustion of it all made him feel rather light headed.

The hit was weak to say at best as it hit the others hand but seemed to just be an annoyance than any real pain.

The Earth magic collided with the Lancer's hand. He grimaced at the pain. It certainly wasn't enough to damage him, but he could feel the bruise blossoming across his veins.

The man tried to swing again. He too was getting tired and ready for this battle to be over. He wasn't impressed with the Healer's attacks. Maybe it was because he was fighting another Earthling that he seemed so much less powerful than he had against the Beast.

The Lancer swung and grimaced as his hand stung with the effort. It would undoubtedly be a weak attack, but an attack nonetheless.
