So, in doing research for the buying of guilds idea, I have found that occasionally people try to basically put guilds out for adoption in the hopes that someone else will take over and make the guild run.

While this would be a whole hell of a lot more involved than just buying guilds, adopting guilds or running a guild adoption service could be a great thing.

Think this would be possible?

If someone has the time for it? It would be fantastic- especially if the guild has a living community still inside of it. Some guilds with large user bases simply don't have active leaders or anyone to take over.

Though, If we're taking the guilds on ourselves, that would become time consuming in a heart beat if we're trying to keep them afloat- even if it is only until we can find a more permanent owner. Speaking strictly from my circumstances, this would be.... difficult, just from the time allocation perspective of things.

If we're offering the service of trying to hook a buyer and seller up together and not becoming involved in the transfer directly, I think we may be able to help some people out in this regard- try to find people who are willing to take on the guilds as they are, though we'd have to emphasize that once the guild changes hands we're not responsible for anything done with it. We can only work with the information given to us and judge so much of a persons intention based on wording and interaction in the forums.

It would be cool to run an adoption center for guilds, it definitely does sound time consuming though. It's definitely worth a shot though as I'm sure it would help out so many people! I would be willing to help out set up a guild for that, even.

From what I gather so far, it sounds like it could be ran similar to how Gaia Job Center works. The person looking to adopt could make a thread with a [A] tag for adopting, then people giving it away could put [G] or something. We could also make subforums for a few broad types of guilds like Roleplay, Chat, Charity, etc.

Hm. . . starting another guild for it might be a bit much at the moment. Probably best to start small.

I'm thinking we can do this along with our buying of dead guilds and act like a broker. If we come across a really good guild we might do more of an actual taking them in and pulling them up thing but mostly it would just be help finding someone else to take over.

We could offer classes and advice to help people help themselves though. Maybe do some workshops. And a sort of help connection service. Like list good artists willing to do banners, good writers willing to proofread stickies, generous people willing to donate things and all that.

What about a guild like mine where I'm having trouble recruiting a lot of active members? I'm always posted and no one ever replies to me. emo

Hmm. . . sort of like a guild sponsorship thing? That could be cool.

Is it your Indie guild?

What sort of help would you like with it?

Yea it is that guild. Idk I just need help finding people who'd be interested in that sort of thing. I asked a girl in and art and crafts guild I was in if she'd mention me in an announcement and I'd do the same for her...but she said no emo

Hmm. . . well, do you have an ad in the GGN forum?

Do you have any members at all? Just a bit of chatter can help you get more members.

Do you have any funding? A contest is a good way to get members but that takes gold or items to fund.

Have you considered offering some sort of service? Guilds that offer services tend to do better because, well, they have something to give their members.

I own a guild called Guild4Sale, where we sell unwanted and abandoned guilds. I am in need of workers if any of you want to help out.

Recycling guilds is a useful idea for those that are still active and thinking about handing the project off. For cases where guilds have been created but abandoned, perhaps there can be a solution to address cases of 'dead guilds' ? ^^;
