Her eyes lit in pleasure. My, but this was even better. She never could resist a good tale, and though she enjoyed the game of wrangling one out of an unwilling source, it was sometimes nice not to have to pull fangs, as it were. What tales would this neglected seer have to share? It really was too good an offer to turn down. Besides, if he decided to come with her as he seemed intent on doing, they were going to have to do something to pass the time...especially if having a second wolf along was going to scare off some of her sources.

She frowned minutely. Now there was something she had not considered before. Would he cause problems for her? The benefits of having a companion along were certainly tempting, but would there be a cost as well? And would she still be granted her title if she came back with someone, making it clear that she had not been alone the whole time? Of course, she had set off alone and survived several months by herself. By all rights, she had already proved herself worthy. She would just be bringing home a little something extra.

Then she stopped and gave herself a good mental shake. This was hardly like her, worrying about the future. More to the point, she had never put much store in the rules. If there was any one consistent truth about Shadow, it is that she always did things her own way. Never mind expectation. The pack could use a good stirring-up.

But enough of that. She had other matters to attend to.

She met Twilight's brilliant purple eyes and nodded solemnly. "That would be an acceptable trade."
