((Gonna timeline this for my sake to be around the time the Inferno Pack betas are out on Search for new members, so border patrol has fallen to chosen lovacs, otherwise Flare wouldn't normally be doing this))

Morning patrols had to be the most boring thing that she had ever experienced in her life. Why the Druga had picked her for this particular task was beyond her, but Solar Flare really wished she'd been overlooked. Hunting for the pack held so much more excitement....Filled her with so much adrenaline.

This?

This was going to drive her insane from boredom. She didn't even have a partner to keep her company, so the monotony of marking this tree and that bush was made even more painful.

It couldn't be helped though. The Search was upon them, and nothing would keep the betas from their role. The pack had been devastated during the Untime, many of the old and weak dying during the freezing months of winter. New blood was a necessity, or the pack would die.

She wished them all the luck in the world to find good wolves to join their ranks.

User ImageFern hopped excitedly from one paw to another as she came across an old rotten log. Oh the untold treasures within old objects! The wolf had an affinity for dead things, oddly shaped and colored rocks, bones, and teeth. What fascinated her about them could not be seen by other wolves, but Fern didn't really care. Exploring was her passion, collecting odd items, her hobby.

This was an area that she had not been to yet, so no stone was left unturned in her constant exploration for knowledge. Close to the mountain range, Fern could barely begin to dream about the types of things she would come across.

Head in the clouds, Fern prodded at the log with glee. Rolling it over, she hummed and poked at the colony of bugs she had disturbed. Frowning at the lack of excitement, Fern gently rolled the log back over and sighed.

"Nothing big - just bugs!" she called behind her.

Gully rolled her eyes from her spot under a tree. She loved her twin to death, but her constant movement and happiness wore on the nerves.

"I could've told you that, sis!" she called back, eyeing the trees and bushes for possible prey. Where Fern had a thing for exploration, Gully had a passion for hunting. Because the twins were constantly on the move and Fern lacked the skills for hunting, Gully rose to become the hunter of the duo.

Their traveling offered new prey and new challenges for Gully, which was part of the reason she tagged along with her twin sister. The other part of the reason was that Fern would most likely get eaten if left to poke around on her own.

Sniffing the air lightly, Gully frowned as the scent of another wolf wafted by. Another wolf wasn't too much of a problem since there were two of them and only one other wolf. Though Fern had the fighting abilities of a pup, the wolf wouldn't know that. It would see that the odds weren't in their favor and would most likely leave them be. Shrugging her shoulders, she settled back down to eye the surrounding foliage for movement.

This tree, that fern...It was getting tedious, but she was almost done with her duty and could return to the pack before too much longer, maybe even get a rabbit hunt in for herself before the communal hunt this evening. It had been a boring round, to top things off. No excitement. No trespassers. Not a leaf out of place.

Her nose twitched as a small breeze blew an interesting smell her way.

Apparently I thought too soon...

Two wolves were on packlands, just ahead where she hadn't gone yet. The fact that, if they were hostile, it would be two on one seemed to have no place in her mind.

Maybe today was going to be exciting after all.

Fern was pouting. There wasn't anything too exciting in this field. She paused in pawing at a peculiar-looking patch of dirt to glance at the mountains visible over the trees. Grinning, she abandoned the dirt and hopped from one paw to the other, as was a habit of hers.

"Gully, there's nothing here... let's go to the mountains!" she exclaimed.

Gully blinked.

"The mountains?"

She lifted her head from it's position upon her paws to glare critically at the visible peaks. Shrugging her shoulders, she stood and waltzed over to her sister's side.

"Eh, why the hell not? Let's go,"

Following behind her twin as she skipped further into the forest, Gully kept a wary eye on their surroundings, fully aware that they weren't alone in their journey.

There were two of them, though there scents were very similar to each other. It made her wary, cautious, because in most cases two against one were not odds in any wolf's favor. But she was not just any wolf, trained as she had been since puppyhood to be a warrior of her pack.

She loped through the trees to close the distance between them, aware that her scent had most likely already reached them. No need to hide. If they were moving out of pack lands, she would simply watch them go. By now they had to have scented the pack territory markers as well.

To be honest, she truly hoped they didn't just leave. She was so bored!!

Fern sniffed the air as she walked ahead of her sister. Something was odd about this area, but she couldn't tell what it was. Pawing at another interesting patch of dirt, she couldn't help the excitement that bubbled through her. She'd never been to this area before and it was ripe for exploring!

Letting out a giggle, she went to skip further through the woods, when her sister's growl reached her ears. Her eyes widened, and she stood still, eyes scanning the area for what her sister saw that she didn't.

Jumping to the side of her sister as a black and gold she-wolf came into her line of sight, Gully let out a warning growl. The female didn't look especially dangerous, and she had taken down one or two wolves in her time, but something about this area irked her. She couldn't decide what it was. Something about the smell of the mountains ahead had small warning signals going through her mind. But right now, that wasn't the issue. The potential threat of the strange she-wolf in front of them was.

Standing with her head high and eyes narrowed, Gully awaited the female's first move.

Flare came up short, hackles raised once she saw the two of them. Aggression wasn't the emotion fore-front in her thoughts, but curiosity and caution were. Better to show yourself as a potential threat than a potential victim.

"You are trespassing on Inferno Pack territory. If you have business here, state it; if not, I will escort you to the border and you will see no hostility from myself or my pack-mates."

Straight to the point. The femme had never been one to beat around the bush, because that was tedious, and even the word itself made her bored. Generally her blunt attitude offended others, which usually led to confrontation.

And confrontation was excitement.
