Miles watched, impressed as the dragon roared out from the naginata. The dragon fell upon the kishin eggs, cutting a swathe through them as it devoured and incinerated them. "Very impressive," said Miles as the dragon returned to Okami. As the kishin eggs scrambled around trying to regroup, Miles looked for an opening. "There's still too many of them," said Miles, frustrated. "We won't be able to break through."
He stopped and stood still, closing his eyes. He began to slow his breathing and block out the screeching and hollering of the kishin eggs. He seemed oblivious to the fact that they had once again surrounded and were closing in on them. They began to approach slowly until they were within arms reach. The stench of them was oppressive and the smell of rotten meat was smothering. The kishin eggs began to reach out for him, their claws had almost touched him when he opened his eyes. They were glowing a bright, sky blue.
Everything after that happened almost too fast to follow. Miles swung outwards with Okami slicing through a swath of the enemies around him. He rushed forwards as he swung a second time, cleaving through four of the kishin eggs together at once. Some of them jumped on his back, digging their claws into him and streams of blood began to flow through the holes that were created in his shirt. He seemed not to notice and spun quickly, throwing them off of him. He continued swinging Okami around left and right, cutting through hordes of the kishin eggs with sudden, furious strength.
He seemed to turn into a blur as kishin egg after kishin egg fell to pieces before him. Even so, some kishin eggs were able to strike at him, tearing his clothing and causing him to bleed all over. No matter how many he killed more and more began to appear. Miles began moving quickly, cutting a path through the kishin eggs towards the edge of the train car. After several brief moments he reached it and jumped off, landing in front of the death bikes. He ran forward and jumped onto the nearest one, gunning the engine with one hand and holding Okami with the other.
Several kishin eggs jumped on the death bike as Miles roared off, running over several more as he pulled away from the throng. Ten kishin eggs, none of them larger than a cat had clung to the death bike and jumped on Miles, causing him to swerve off-course. He held out for a few moments before the eggs caused him to spin and turn the bike on its side, catching his left leg between the ground and the bike as it slid at high speed. Finally the bike pulled away from them and Miles and the bike spun separately as they crashed to the ground.
Miles rolled several yards across the ground before finally coming to a stop. He was in a bad way. His clothes were mangled and torn and almost every inch of his body was cut or bruised. He rolled his head back and forth, stunned by the crash. His vision was blurry but he looked over and saw that he had managed to hold onto Okami's naginata through the entire crash. He looked on his other side to see the 10 kishin eggs crawling towards him. They were far enough away from the mass that only these 10 kishin eggs would be a threat. He tried to stand but was too weakened to even sit up. The blue light had gone out of his eyes and they were back to normal. He opened his mouth to try and call out to Okami for help but no words escaped. He lay there, helpless as the kishin eggs closed in on him.
