Personality Description: It's debatable which persona is the true Selina Kyle. Some argue it's the aristocratic socialite hidden behind the mask; a powerful woman of prestige and grace with a charitable heart despite her shadowed past. Others claim she truly is the Catwoman, a firecracker, femme fatale with sharp wit, a quick tongue, and an affinity for criminal behavior that bears an unquenchable thirst for wealth, fame, and power. A careless debutant or a chaotic kleptomaniac, the princess or the thief, a countess or a criminal- the outcome seems to inevitably float above the heads of man. However, perhaps Selina is neither of these things, or perhaps a combination of both. Truth of the matter is, no one has met the real Selina Kyle, perhaps not even Selina herself. At the end of the day, when the mask is off and the pearls tucked away, she ponders the question like the rest of the world, safely, behind closed doors.

Selina is a gifted and accomplished athlete, with a heightened acrobatic prowess and attuned grace. This also allots for her cat-like reflexes, speed, balance, and flexibility. Though she has access to such weapons as her whip and claws, she is also a formidable foe in unarmed combat, having been trained in Dragon Style Kungfu, Karate, Boxing, and various other forms of martial arts and street fighting. After years of surviving on the street, she has also gain a vast knowledge of thievery techniques and procedures including lock picking, safe cracking, and informal computer/security hacking. Whether in a public disguise or hidden in plain sight, Selina is a master of stealth, able to remain undetected by eyes both untrained and finely honed. Her most unorthodox power, however, is Selina's natural ability to connect with felines. Whether sick, scared, or merely lonely, the creatures tend to have a grand affinity for Selina, one which she has learned to return with the utmost respect and admiration.
Biography
The beginnings of Selina Kyle were humble and mild, born into a middle-class family within a southern suburb of Gotham. They had their minor problems, but seeing what corruption and horrors the city held, the Kyles considered themselves more fortunate than most. Her mother was always withdrawn, distant from the world regardless of her tangible proximity. When she finally took her own life, it surprised very few including her own daughter. Her husband, however, was utterly lost, his broken spirit seemingly taking on the wayward demons that had plagued his wife. Spiteful of his tragic loss, her father drank himself to death, unable to face his daughter who constantly stood as an everlasting reflection and reminder of his lost love.
Parentless, an 11 year old Selina was placed in the hands of the State. However, rather than being confined to an abusive home for orphans and delinquents, she took to the streets of Gotham hoping they would prove more useful. She made the East End her district of choice, working as a petty thief to survive. Unlike most vagrants and criminals in the corrupt district, Selina remained a loner, veering away from organized crime regardless of the protection and perks it offered. However, she did find companionship from local stray cats, the creatures flocking to her with an affinity she soon learned to return.
By constant fleeing, scrapping, and hiding herself away, Selina survived for a prolonged period of time without incident. However, her streak of luck ended when she was caught lifting the wrong stash, one belonging to a rival crimelord. Though she managed to evade the numerous thugs for a time, she soon found herself facing a dead end with nowhere to run. That's when he intervened. Selina couldn't tell you how or where he entered from, only how quickly he dealt with the mobsters in sheer brute force. After the brawl, the cloaked man removed his hood to reveal a downtrodden Ted Grant, once Gotham's premiere heavy-weight boxer turned wanted criminal by false allegation. In all good consciousness, Grant couldn't leave the young girl defenseless in the corrupted warrant. Though he refused to serve as a mentor nor nurturer, he provided something more valuable- self-defense. Her lean frame and gymnast flexibility made Selina a natural, taking to his boxing techniques relatively quick. After his departure, she continued her education by teaching herself other forms of combat from complex martial arts to brute force street brawling. This physical exertion also improved her physique, allowing for adept acrobatics and agile grace, both of which proving a valuable asset in her thievery.
Through years of physical training, acquired logic, and intuition, Selina Kyle quickly became one of Gotham's most notorious and stealthy cat-burglars; she was a faceless crook, nothing more than a newsstand headline. She could blend into a sea of thousands, a group of acquaintances, or a one-on-one date without even the slightest detection. She was the fly on the wall, an eloquent socialite, or a coy mistress- each different but enviably leading to the same conclusion, a worthy prize or possession. Her need for survival had become second to her impulsive lust to steal. Each mark, be it personal or client-based, proved more difficult than the next. As the heists became more elaborate and high-risk, Selina decided to dawn her own persona resembling the creatures she had come to admire most- she became the Catwoman.
Currently, Selina continues her thievery in Gotham, a freelance thief for hire to those fortunate enough to know where and how to find her.
