The Stars do, in fact, have their own mythology that a number of them believe in to some extent. Just like with any cosmology, there are nonbelievers, and that's OK. That's just the way the world works. Your Stars do not have to believe in this mythology, and they could believe in any other mythology of your choice, but this is the Stars' native mythology.
The Stars do not treat their mythology as a religious system; for them, it's a collection of stories that may or may not be true, but are considered to be there for one reason or another. Some Stars do build their own religious practices around mythological beings, but this is again their own prerogative. The figures in the Stars' mythology have never really involved themselves in the belief systems of the Stars.
Below, you will find stories and notes about characters who appear in the mythology of the Stars. Variations and unique tales you make up yourself are totally fine! What's here is the most commonly told tales and facts, often in the most basic or classic form. What your Stars do with the mythology is entirely up to you, and it will continue to be fascinating, to watch the mythology grow and change.

Dramatis Personae
The Great Star Council features in the very oldest tales told by the Stars. They are considered the oldest, wisest, and mightiest of all Stars, greater than the Signs. Before their departure, they were major deities. In terms of power, they're still the Stars' major deities. However, in terms of presence in all aspects of Star culture and life, the Great Star Council is merely an ancient group of deities their ancestors worshiped, who, when they were leaving, left the Signs in charge in their absence. It can be speculated that the Great Star Council were the creator-deities of Dreamspace. They may have also been the greatest Stars ever to come into existence, foaled in the beginning of Dreamspace. The tales featuring the Great Star Council are decreasing over time due to their great antiquity, and those that remain reveal few, if any, details helpful in understanding the Great Star Council. They are at present best known from the legends surrounding the beginnings of the 13 Signs. That tale includes an instance of fallibility, which may be blamed by some on mortal error. Otherwise, their wisdom in regards to the 13 Signs is considered to be an incredible instance of wisdom on their part, considering each Sign individually and the 13 Signs as a group. It is not questioned that the Great Star Council were among the very oldest and were certainly the most powerful Stars in existence, even though they are now gone.
The Lady of the Rainbows, Herald of the Dawn is a character who often shows up in fairy tales and certain myths among the Stars. She is a good character, loving, beautiful, and youthful. She brings the dawn and the rainbow, she keeps dreams and that most precious of things, hope. She is the herald of new beginnings, invoked at births and lifemating rituals to bring good luck and bless such occasions. Beginnings of any travels or endeavors may also include an invocation to her, calling upon her powers and blessings. Those wishing to dream of true love or wanting to have visions in their dreams also pray to her, as do those in dire need of hope. She is well-loved among the figures of the mythology of the Stars. Any who are in desperate need may call upon her and, as the stories go, she will aid them, for she is not one to ever let any suffer. However, she never stays for long, for she is a swift and fragile being, as fleeting as those things that are within her powers. She is sometimes referred to as the Butterfly of the Rainbow or the Bird of Peace and Love. She is a great healer, though her healing skills are greatest in the areas of the heart and mind. She is said to have many homes, as the tales disagree as to where she may be found. Common claims are in the far east or wherever someone sees a rainbow.

The Coming of the Signs
In the days of long, long ago, above all Stars ruled and lived the Great Star Council, the ones with power unmatched who had lived since the beginning of Dreamspace. Everyone loved and respected them, for they were wise and mighty and good.
Now, it came to pass that the Great Star Council began to feel restless. They had been in Dreamspace since the beginning, and felt it time to move on, wherever that might be. However, they did not wish to leave their beloved Stars behind without others to guide and protect them, so they began to search high and low for those who might be worthy to lead and protect the Stars in their place.
Their eyes were caught by 13 mighty herd leaders, respected and trusted above other herd leaders. Even more fascinating to the Great Star Council, they had been named for the constellations lying along the celestial zodiac. Eager to meet and confer honors upon such worthy individuals so that they might be ready when the time came, they sent out invitations to the 13. Unfortunately, only 12 of the invitations arrived, and those 12 hastened to arrive in a timely fashion to meet with the Great Star Council.
The one whose invitation did not arrive was Ophiuchus, perhaps the wisest and greatest of the 13 they wished to confer honors upon. The 12 who arrived were each granted powers over the air, the water, the earth or the fire. When the mistake was discovered, Ophiuchus was invited, and granted powers unlike any of the others, for they were powers over the light and darkness. Ophiuchus is yet the most powerful of all the 13, for to Ophiuchus was given another responsibility: the responsibility to balance the forces of the world and maintain balance and harmony.
In time, the Great Star Council was sufficiently pleased with the 13 Signs, as the 13 blessed Stars were known, and left Dreamspace and the Stars in the care of the 13 Signs. To this day, they rule and protect all Stars from their homes in Dreamspace and shall until either the ending of time, or until they join the Great Star Council, wherever it may be.

There are a few common variations to the above tale, which is the central tale in the mythology of the Stars. Some versions claim that there were 14 Stars summoned and 13 who arrived, for Gemini was really a set of twins who acted as one Star; some of those claim 12 arrived, for Ophiuchus was really a set of twins who acted as one Star. Others claim that there were even as many as 15 Stars summoned, with 13 who arrived, for Gemini was a set of twins acting as one and so was Ophiuchus. Some accounts claimed that it was Aquarius who first noticed the absence of Ophiuchus after observing the might and fame and wisdom of the rest of the Stars assembled, and it was Aquarius who personally fetched Ophiuchus, for the twosome had ever been close, and would remain close over time.
