"Andarien would like to do weapons work, and at Earendil's suggestion, he's going to start out with a wooden sword. Since you helped River learn bokken, we were wondering if you had any suggestions, or would like to do a bit of teaching."

Since he and Shiro would be with them throughout their journey anyways.

Kaito eyed Andarien thoughtfully, and it was odd to see such a serious look on the neko's face.

"Any limitations?" he asked at length.

Lin thought about it, she didn't know Kaito's teaching style but knew that he could be blunt. She didn't want Andarien to be treated like glass, but also knew one had to be sometimes careful how you talked to him.

"Just keep in mind that Andarien needs to become comfortable with the martial arts. He's not, it's caused him a lot of grief up to this point...."

And she hoped she didn't need to remind Kaito that Andarien was probably more sensitive than Miyuki was at his age... stage.

"He's not going to be comfortable with anything at this point," Kaito said bluntly, "so comfort isn't the issue here. Whatever it is, he's not going to have much of a choice but to get used to it."

He liked Lin's choice of words, though. Martial arts. None of that war stuff that was pretty much the only thing taught in this world - that he'd seen so far. Practical, effective, and simple.

"Daisho," he said finally, nodding to himself. "And the pursuit will also strengthen his mind for anything else he wants to do, be it mechanical or otherwise."

Andarien wasn't quite sure he liked the way his cousin was looking at him, but he beat back the apprehension in his chest. He had decided that he was going to learn something, and he was going to do it, no matter how much he didn't like it.

Lin was wondering absently if Kaito was talking about discipline. Then again that's sort of why she called it the Martial arts, yes there was a practical reason to it, but there was a lot of effort and discipline involved.

She nodded at this, "Then if it's alright with you, you both..."

She looked at Andarien and then back at Kaito.

"Can set up a training time, especially since so many of Andarien's lessons come from Shiro."

So maybe Shiro should be on this, and Shiro was generally more... reserved than his brother.

"All I need to know is what type of wooden sword would be preferable."

Kaito shook his head. "Let me take care of it," he told Lin, holding up one hand. "I'll have it done here, and I'll get the matching blades for when he's ready for that step. Here they can do the work to do it justice. I haven't got high hopes for Caras Galadhon's work."

"But would they be able to finish before tomorrow?" Earendil blinked.

Kaito shook his head again. "Not a chance. I'll stay here while you all go on. You'll be in the city for a while, right? I'll just ask someone to fly me there when I'm ready and meet you then."

That sounded like a good idea, they had seen the work on Caras Galadhon, it wasn't that great.

"Alright then, thank you for doing this," Lin replied with a genuine smile.

Really it was a long time coming to get Andarien his own teacher.

"Hey... Kaito, since you'll be here for the sword...." Miyuki ventured, "I'm thinking of asking Auntie Feng for more information on her battle fan, I might or might not peruse it but in case I do, could you commission one on my behalf?"

Kaito nodded. "Sure. I'll need to have it here with me to get it copied, though. I don't know much about battle fans."

It was one of the martial art forms that he had not learned, since it was more for women anyways. Besides, he personally preferred a good blade.

Miyuki nodded, it looked like she would have another errand to run quickly before the day was out. She just hoped it wouldn't affect lessons.

"I'll ask Auntie Feng today then," she nodded to herself.

And hoped her aunt would agree, though Feng was also a bit unpredictable a times.

That evening, their dinner was another great feast, though this time it was only for those in the palace and their guests. It was a farewell feast, since the group would be leaving in the morning. Shiro barely returned in time for it, and ended up late because he needed to bathe before he could eat.

The feast ended up going very late into the night, well past midnight, and though many of the younger celebrants were very tired, no one seemed to want to be the first to leave.

The downside of not wanting to be the first one to leave is the fact that by the time morning came around one was really, really tired. Miyuki was no exception to this rule, even though she knew she would get to get up and prepare to leave.

Everything was already packed and put away. Before the feast she had gone to Feng and asked her about battle fans and to see if it was possible to use one as a reference. Feng, agreed to this, since both she and Naida had practice versions, and so they could use those while one was being made for Miyuki.

It also meant that during their trip on the ship, Miyuki would be getting lessons, which was... tentatively looking forward to.

She did finally get up, only because both Senka and Ai were poking her with their paws. Though Senka got the point where she was bouncing on Miyuki just to wake her up.

Really, it was too early in the morning after a late night feast. So when she did finally appeared for breakfast, packed, dressed and ready to start the day she was still yawning.

The late night didn't seem to bother most of the others like it did Miyuki: the excitement of continuing was enough to give most of them energy, though Andarien was still fast asleep.

By noon, however, not only had they woken Andarien, but the ship had been packed and made ready to set sail. Aerin, Caranthir, Cameron, Aurin, Rhea, Xion and Rhiannon, Aethos, Alassëa and Kaito all came down to see them off.

"See you in a week or so!" Kaito shouted after them as the ship left the pier.

And then they were off, leaving the island nation behind.
