'Once Upon a Time...' is a game where the object is to tell a fairy tale as a group. In this version one person will start to tell the tale and at the end leave a keyword that must be used in the next persons post as they continue the story. For example:
Once upon a time there was a kingdom that was undersiege by a dragon. The people lived in fear for their lives and their leaders were helpless to stop it. They put out a call for a hero to come.
Princess
Hearing of their plight a heroine came to save the people. She was the princess of a land far away. She had a heart that was courageous and was very skilled in battle. The people thanked her for coming to help them.
Forrest
You may write any kind of fairytale type of story you like when it is your turn, Serious to silly, dark or fanciful. It is up to you as long as you use the key word provided by the last person. Expect the story to change types and styles often wink Also try not to make the posts too long or short. A couple of sentances or a paragraph or two is good enough. That is all and enjoy! biggrin

Once upon a time there was a young lady in a small village. She had been found as a child and taken in by a family as an orphen. She was liked by many and was hard working and clever.

Her foster parents named her Yuki because her skin was white and flawless like snow. Others loved her because she was humble, kind and loves to help others who was in trouble. She also like to read books. She like to help others as much as she like to read books.

One day, her foster parents became ill. The illness was very contagious and soon the whole village was consumed by it. Yuki helped the doctor make the rounds but eventually even he began to show signs that he had caught it. People affected by this illness grew weaker, stunted appetite, constant exhaustion and an unnatural amount of apathy. For some reason Yuki hadn't yet caught the illness. There was a legend of a a great library beyond the dark woods but the woods were a dangerous place and the library was said to be a haunted place. Yuki had always wanted to go there but her parents had told her not to go saying how dangerous it was. The doctor begged her to try however. Perhaps there was a book inside that might tell them how to treat the illness and save their village.

Yuki ran into the woods, looking around for anything out of the ordinary. All that she spotted was a single raven, perched in the boughs of a large pine tree. Can you help me find the library? she askd the bird, gasping as it flew right over her head and deeper into the forest than anyone had been in generations.

The raven flew to a tree and stoped to look back at Yuki. As she walked near to it it would flay away and then stop, as if waiting for her to catch up. Around and around, deeper and deeper they went into the forest until she was certain she was lost. She was almost about to give up when at last the trees began to part and a massive building stood before her. She approached the ancient doors and cautiously opened them to the dusty halls beyond. "H-Hello?" she said timidly and then nearly fainted as the raven cawed loudly and then flew away into the darkness inside and out of sight.
