Name: Ace Hartley
Nickname: The King of Cards
Bio: Ace was born in Brooklyn, New York to a hard working, blue collar family. His father died in a construction accident early in Ace's life which caused Ace's family to struggle to keep afloat. His two older brothers dropped out of school to take jobs and Ace would have done the same except his mother insisted that at least one of three go to college.
Ace resented his poor upbringing and had no interest in school but he did love his mother so he followed her wishes...until he was twenty-one and discovered an amazing power. For his 21st birthday, his friends drug him to Atlantic City. At a roulette table, Ace discovered he can manipulate probabilities. By concentrating on the roulette ball, he was able to always land on the number he wanted.
After testing his powers out, Ace discovered two limitations to his powers. One, he had to briefly concentrate on the object he wished to use his power on and will the outcome he desired. Two, he was limited by the size of the object. The largest objects we was able to manipulate was an assault rifle into jamming.
Ace quickly dropped out of school(much to his mother's disappointment) and become a professional gambler. Soon, he was manipulating the outcome of casino games to become rich. He set his family up for life and began to travel the world as a high roller. People started calling him the King of Cards because was practically unbeatable in poker.
And sometimes, far away from the cards, high rollers, and beautiful women always on his arm, people swore that the King of Cards saved their life. A mugger's gunshots always missed him as he saved a family in New York. In Monaco, a kidnapper's key broke in the ignition of his van as he tried to escape from the King with a little girl. In Las Vegas, a gang of thugs managed only stab each other with their knives as the King rescued a young women from their grasps.
From the casinos to the dark alleys, people were learning that the King of Cards always wins.
