x x x It was gratifying for her to see how quickly he rushed from the car. She knew he didn't like human things like this, and while she wasn't a fan, Cythoe had long since come to the conclusion that some things were necessary and they could be much worse. Not a fan of heat or messiness, she could certainly appreciate climate control and modern plumbing. She had been forced to learn how to adapt, not having the luxury of hiding herself away like some of her brethren, but knew how Jaq and his kind still lived. Well, he should be happy at her home, then. That cheered her up, pleased at the assumption he would like it there, since she hardly wanted to take him somewhere he'd hate. The Dryadalis remained still, watching as he went over to a bush and summoned a fairy. She hadn't seen her cousins in a long time and her eyes widened briefly in surprise and pleasure at how easily he could call one.
Cythoe smiled as he became clean again, although she still thought he needed more than one set of clothing. She would have to take care of that herself, she supposed, since he was so resistant to the idea. Laughing softly, she went over and crouched down next to him, nodding her head at the fairy who turned it's attention to her. "Hello, little sister," she greeted her softly, a smile on her lips. She heard a chiming in her ear and laughed a bit, shaking her head at the questions coming from the fairy. They were always curious when it came to their cousins and while Cythoe was more than happy to oblige, they could also be quite silly. Well, sillier than her, sometimes. Most people said she should have been a fairy with how she acted sometimes. She ignored those people.
Straightening, she looked down at Jaq curiously. "Do you want to go walk around the park?" Cythoe asked. It was a nice day, though she liked rain as well, and with the slight breeze it kept the sun from being too hot. She had never been here before and thought it would be worth a walk, especially if it might calm the summoner down before the ride home. The Dryadalis hardly cared if he used his powers, as long as it wasn't to harm anyone or her, as she had strict rules about that. But telling a summoner not to summoner was rather stupid, at least in her opinion, and she certainly wouldn't mind having things around when he chose to call them.
A Fallen Prince... A Furious Summoner... Welcome Prince Jaq to the world of Slavery
The Magus tilted her head making a sound that only Cythoe and Jaq understood. The ancient language of merely sighs, clicks, and mostly musical sounds. What she said was mostly of Jaq attire and how untidy the prince had become in both appearance and soul. What she said to a fellow sister was a phases that Jaq wasn't to familiar with. “May you return what was lost to him sister.” The magus lightly went about her keeping a minor eye on Jaq at his confusing expression. She giggled at this. “He is truly a wonder.” She traded thoughts, “Such lovely clean hair.” She wished to touch it. Jaq rolled his eyes at this because he didn't want to send his Magus away when she was having rather fun time with Cythoe. Jaq growled low. He was torn between the two now once again.
His eyes locked down to the minor trees and greens before him. He hadn't seen nature in a while nor had he been able to enjoy them. His crimson eyes flipped onto Cythoe though. The other Magus landed on him tugging on him along. Two against one. His eyes narrowed at this. “I guess we can walk through this pathetic place they insist on deeming a piece of nature.” He punched the concrete inches from him at that moment. The Magus hid behind Cythoe at the outburst peering around her shoulder. He made his knuckles bleed and gave a minor crack to the solid. It blended in as he wasn't to his right strength.
He stood up folding his arms smearing his own blue blood on to the cloth. A clicking of the Magus tongue tighten his fingers into a ball. Yes he wasted her time with his pity hate. It only made him loathe himself for wasting her gift. “Mille ad hanc contumeliam inferna, et percusserit me daemonia.” He informed her. The Ueterem stomped her feet and went to him and fixed the spot once again. Jaq brushed off his clothes out of habit. Jaq closed his eyes briefly at that moment. How this human world changed him and the Dryadalis. To him it wasn't as great as how Cythoe viewed it. That, he guessed, was why the Magus were so and did not mind the humans' forgetful ways. Well, there were some who would agree with him. “I don't understand why they do this. They kill themselves more then anything else by their foolish means to expand.” He uttered looking to the landscape. It must have been a beautiful land of trees with an enormous Feras before all of this.He had the urge to use a Magus of earth to revise the place to it's former glory. He was still sluggish with his powers though and may harm the Magus he summoned.

x x x Listening to the magus, the older fae grinned slightly. It had been some time since she had been able to talk to her cousins and she responded in the same lilting tongue. Despite it having been decades since she had last used it, the speech rolled past her lips easily as she laughed at the magus' words. Oh, she clearly loved to tease Jaq, like any good fairy, and the expression on his face was more than amusing to the elder fae. She looked around curiously again, taking in the small gardens. It wasn't bad, considering humans were the ones to build it, and she had to give them credit where it was due. Hearing his words, she chuckled slightly. "I don't understand it either, Jaq. But at least some of the humans recognize their mistakes and try to correct them. You can't blame them for not having the power of a Dryadalis," Cythoe pointed out with a shrug. Having lived in the world of men for so long, she had grown used to their odd quirks and even liked some of them. Hating them was a waste of her energy, considering there were too many to hate to start with. Instead she tended to focus on the good they did, it made it easier to deal with how the world was changing so drastically from the one she had known.
The Dryadalis frowned when he hit the walkway. She didn't appreciate such displays of temper and watched as the magus chattered at him and fixed the spot, clearly annoyed with him as well. Hands on her hips as she began to walk down the path, clearly expecting him to follow, she didn't turn to see if he was or not. In the end, he had little choice and she wanted to inspect this little piece of land. "They do, and that is why I pity them more than I hate them," the female remarked with a slight shrug. "They are like children, playing with forces they don't understand, and are only going to hurt themselves in the end. We should be here to pick up the pieces and teach them the error of their ways as they brush off the dust, rather than condemn them. If we do that, we're no better than them." That was her firm opinion on the subject, as her tone clearly showed, and she glanced over her shoulder at Jaq while she walked. "You should be pleased that there are some who still strive to maintain such places of peace in their busy world. It shows they aren't completely hopeless." She knew many Dryadalis that had fallen themselves, changed to human ways and irrevocably distanced from their powers, from the magus and the land. They were fools and another frown creased her brow before it smoothed out.
Reaching out, she took Jaq's hand and tugged him along after her. "Come along, I didn't bring you along so you could sulk and throw a temper like a spoiled child. Aren't we taught to adjust to the world and maintain balance? All you do is chaos with such fits," Cythoe scolded him mildly, giving him a disapproving look. She could understand why the prince was so angry and didn't blame him. Still, she expected more restraint from a summoner and clearly was disappointed. It was a nice day and she wanted to enjoy it somewhat. "You'll enjoy my home, it's built on old land. There's plenty of magic there to draw on and there are Feras still live in the forests, though they rarely show themselves," Cythoe told him after a minute of silence, bringing him along after her and clearly not giving him a choice. "You can do as you please in my home, save for going into my bedroom. Every other room is yours as well, as is the land. I don't have any other restrictions to give you, if you were expecting a lot of rules and such." It went against the core nature of any Dryadalis to give a summoner a lot of rules anyway, as their spirits were based in nature and freedom to start with.
A Fallen Prince... A Furious Summoner... Welcome Prince Jaq to the world of Slavery
Jaq rolled his eyes at her words. “Not have the power of a Dryadalis is not their problem. They have it if they wouldn't chase the Magus away with all their silly idiotic choices. Their lust for power is the reason they were in a few messes in the first place really besides the lack of commuciation.” She was a magus so she was very forgiving and understanding to them. He was not as he was not of that line or the keeper of the world. Even now his mind was tainted by the human world. The Ueterem calmed down after she was done with him. She patted her hands together and sighed. “Nisi protuleris malum cuius tibi ne vindicari teipsum.”“Id est magnum, et scio melius etiam illud opus fieri post Ive Dryadalis Cythoe.” He answered though techinally he wasn't have done anything until Cythoe said something.
Jaq watched as Cythoe started to walk from them both. He was bond by his blood. The magus already flew after her calmly curiously leaving the summoner to remain behind for a brief moment. Jaq grumbled to himself before walking after them. “As you say you can only teach them the error of their ways.” He retorted to her as he really hated that she pointed out that he was acting like a spoiled brat. In truth, he wondered if he was losing his old self to this...human world or was he just loathing everything for the simple fact that his people had done nothing to earn what they gotten. Jaq realized the magus took hold of his hand and now he was standing by her side. She was making wonder exactly though. Yes. Her words were indeed true about the world however why was it the magus allowed the take over of his uncle. He blinked, “My fits hardly do any damage but let out some rage. Remember maintain balance.” Jaq told as over ruled her look at him as he became smart with her. Something he learned from another being while waiting in his room.
He blinked at her. “Why don't the Feras show themselves...You have humans there?” He looked at her in disbelief. Normally animals were attracted to the magus. “Also I don't draw on magic...I usually draw off the Magui and ask them for aid. They listen to my words and give me what they will.” Jaq told though he was sure this was something she already knew. Jaq listened on not saying anything on his strength or what he could actually do without the magus help. Jaq nodded to her law of her room before saying nothing more on rules. She was a mistress and expected more aside form his laws of his own people. “Seriously...” He was lost in his sentence as he didn't know what to say. The little fairy sat on his head straightening his hair. “She needs you to go shopping....This way I understand why those mortal say all the time. Is it fun.” “It's boring really...” Jaq told trying not to move his head too much.

xxxEirawen hadn't really noticed Abdiel's musings while she was running around getting her things together, but she did notice his smile return in full glowing pride; Eirawen liked how he seemed to smile almost constantly in such a charming manner. Smiling simply because he was happy, she nodded eagerly when he spoke of how physical things didn't hold much value, really, and couldn't help but blush a small amount at his wink; it was playful and she knew it, didn't mean she wasn't surprised by it. "Yes, you're very much right. I have plenty." Agreeing completely with Abdiel, Eira's voice made it obvious too, it was light and airy, and sounded absolutely confident. If things tore, she could sew which meant there was no need to buy replacement items. Likewise, she was quite okay with sewing her own dresses as long as there was fabric. The simple things in life, now those she liked. The calm and happy smile that seemed to be a permanent feature on her face faltered as Abdiel began to comment on her distaste of the Hotel, her concern was still stuck fast in her eyes. Yet, the smile quickly returned when her hand was taken and placed against his cheek. Unsure if she was smiling out of shyness, surprise or simply because of the unexpected action, Eirawen could appreciate the gesture and happily rested his cheek in her relaxed hand. All too soon though Eirawen knew she was blushing - again - because of his lovely little compliment. It was very hard to not smile around this man. He just seemed to light up the room, in more ways than one.
xxxHand now in his, fingers clasped together, Eira could feel her hope and excitement bubble up once again as he turned his attention to the door and agreed it was time to go. Free hand clasping around the handle of the suitcase, she happily left the room with Abdiel, a guard in tow. Of course, the guards were there to make sure all visitors to the hotel were safe and found their way out the building too, but Eira felt quite confident to lead the little group, right up until they made their way to the ground floor and the bellboy took over. Hovering nearby as Abdiel went about the task of signing papers and paying for her, Eira found that she was more fascinated with the layout of the front lobby than watching the man struggle over the task. It was bittersweet, watching the man show just how 'green' he was to things that humans and other more socially aware beings thought were simple, but Eira didn't want to focus on it. Especially when he seemed so happy and pleased when he was finished - now that was something she could focus on and feel warm and fuzzy about. If she could get Abdiel to feel this triumphant about the things she knew (which unfortunately for the two of them didn't include things after the 60's) then everything would be alright in the world.
xxxTaking a medium-sized white umbrella from the stand near the door - it said complimentary so Eirawen knew it was okay to take one - she walked out the Hotel next to Abdiel and immediately took a deep breath in once out on the curb. The clean air, the fresh air, the real air. There was nothing like it. Sure it was sunnier and warmer than she'd expected, but popping open the umbrella to shade herself, Eirawen looked more like a tourist than some kind of slave. Her clothing was neat and surprisingly fashionable, and standing next to Abdiel, she felt proud as punch. Hearing his voice snapped her out of her happy little daydreaming, and eyeing the man curiously, she could see his discomfort. Something wasn't sitting well with him. Letting go of her suitcase to place a reassuring hand on his arm, the embarrassment was clear, and Eira didn't feel it to be unnecessary. Instead of looking upset at the news, the woman smiled and chuckled in a hopeful tone. "I haven't been out of that room in so long, a walk sounds like a fantastic idea to me." Scratching at her neck a little, the collar was a little uncomfortable now she was out of the Hotel, she gave Abdiel's shoulder a squeeze again. "Let's head back the way you came. I'm sure there's some amazing places to pass on the way." Her optimism seemed to win over, and getting that bright and happy smile once more, Eira took up her suitcase again and was about to head off, but was stopped by Abdiel.
xxxBy the time the duo had walked far enough to reach the public gardens, Eirawen's smile couldn't be wiped from her face. Abdiel had removed her collar. No Master had ever shown her that much kindness and respect before. Freely able to control her body temperature now, the woman had cooled it right down to such a temperature that would make human doctors fear for her life. It was easy to do such a thing and keep it low subconsciously, especially when temperatures around the world were so different; it had been easy to train her body to adapt to such vast changes in global temperature. Still sheltered under the umbrella, the woman felt like she was walking on cloud nine. All the man had done was remove her collar, but this had created a stronger bond, much stronger than one Abdiel could have thought. Friendship was most assured, for now until the time came that he had to leave. Almost bouncing on her feet as they walked, when the entrance to the gardens came into view, Eirawen stopped by it. "Oh isn't it beautiful." She gushed, reaching out to gently stroke a rose, only to end up dusting it with frost by accident. Gasping in surprise, the frost quickly melted into tiny crystal-like droplets on the petals. "Oh I know it's out of place to ask but may we walk around the gardens for a bit, Abdiel? Please?" Turning around to smile at the man, she seemed almost whimsical, a wistful expression on her face. "I haven't seen flowers, real flowers, for so long."
xxxIt was all the woman could do to contain herself, but she managed to. Giving a very toned down squeal of excitement (she'd avoided the urge to hug the man, but only barely), she walked at a calm pace next to the man, but only barely. There was just so much color and life in the gardens! The Hotel had been beautiful, but it lacked this vibrancy that only living plants could give. Spending almost the entirety of her life in nature, surrounded by flora in all seasons, the woman really appreciated nature, even if it often had to suffer because of the frosts and snow she had to bring in winter months. The pathways lined with all kinds of flowers were fun to navigate, and eventually they happened upon a little red bridge over a small waterfall. Stopping on it to watch the water, the woman stared down to watch her reflection ripple in the water's surface. "People never stop to take in the small things in life any more." It had been a few moments since she'd last spoken, and her tone - while soft and dreamy - seemed serious. "Everyone these days just rushes around, trying to find the quickest way to point A and point B, and the quickest answer to their problems. If people could just... Stop and take a minute to relax, to step outside into the sun and just breathe and stop... I think people could be much happier." Looking up to the sky, arms resting on the bridge balustrade so she could lean forward in a relaxed manner, she turned to look at Abdiel. "I'm sorry, that was rather random of me, wasn't it?" Chuckling in a slightly embarrassed manner, she turned her gaze back to the water. "But I do believe that people waste what is right in front of them. I understand that if some people didn't work hard, we wouldn't have medicines that help the seriously ill, but if everyone could just find time for themselves, I think the world could be a happier place." Shrugging her shoulders, Eirawen looked straight ahead, watching the rippling pond below.

"Ah... possessions are not useless but they lose their value in the pursuit of more."He wasn't entirely sure if her blush was a good thing or not and it was certainly entirely his fault. Why, in fact, he did everything without thinking! He couldn't help being the sort of person he was! He instinctively knew how to interact with people on emotional level though that would likely get him into trouble from time to time. With those he usually interacted with, that was never a problem, of course. He was glad, though, that she didn't mind his touch, especially since he did so so thoughtlessly. If not, they would have quite a bit of trouble in the future. Oh, and how she laughed at him instead of being upset at the fact they had no means of transportation except for their own two legs! His eyes filled with wonder, appreciative, before he laughed with a wave of his hand and a good-natured roll of his shoulder when she squeezed it.
"What a brilliant idea! I think I would enjoy that quite a bit! Lovely weather, the sun in the sky and we both have two feet to walk upon! Now what else do you need but good company?"His grin flashed broader, revealing his white teeth."But I have a lovely lady to accompany me and I with you so it won't be a lonely day! An adventure is thrilling!"He grabbed her hand as she reached for her suitcase and with his other picked it up himself. He swung it over his shoulder, humming to himself as he looked around."Let's go and see where our feet take us, eh?"And without letting go of her hand, they started on their way, weaving through the traffic to get to the other side without incident. Once on the other side of the road they could walk without worry of getting in anyone's way. And without having to worry about his legs getting tired, he carried her suitcase over her shoulder without seeming effort.
It had been several minutes before he stopped without warning. Bending down, he placed her suitcase on the ground, rolled his neck and turned around to face her. His face was critical, looking her over with his hands on his hips. Something was bothering him and it soon became apparent when her hands fell from his hips and he reached out to her neck. His fingers removed the collar and he pulled it off without a word. It went straight into his pocket and he exhaled in relief - as if he had been the one to have the collar removed from. But with the piece tucked safely away in his pocket, he picked up the suitcase once more, swung it over his shoulder as before, and took her hand. He squeezed it, lightly swinging their linked hands in a new bubbling of emotion. His carefree manner had remained, his eyes glancing this way and that. He even began to point everything out that had jumped out to him before. Sometimes they seemed entirely menial and meaningless but he pointed it out with amazed fervor to say all he knew about it. And if that was nothing, he still had something to say. As if removing the collar had given him a new freedom to speak with her. Such as, on one occasion, he pointed out a bird flying high in the sky. It had a pretty red belly, he said, or the wisp of clouds that swirled together like waves. The bird looked very much as if it were riding those waves even if they were so far away from each other. Those sky waves that mountains could touch. It was sad, he would also note, that there were too many bound to the earth, yet the earth was also very beautiful, he would quickly amend, though there was something about the open air that opened the spirit and filled it with wonderful terror!
Though, of course, there was something lovely about the stillness and stability of the earth - even if it could be very unpredictable itself - and how the little flower that shaded the blades of grass around it was just as glorious as the mountain that kissed the sky waves. He was very thrilled, of course, never forgetting to not get in the way of the umbrella she protected herself with. He would remember it then begin to excitedly tell her about the sun and how wonderful it was, the light dancing in his eyes. Then he would turn to how the clouds would shield some of the light that flooded to the earth. That seemed to set him off on another thought. The sun was beautiful, he said, it was glorious and burned so brightly it filled the world with light, the bringer of life. Its fires blazed so gloriously that to look upon it for too long was dangerous, he also pointed out, gazing up at the sun with a squint before looking away. Its power burned, yet kissed the skin so delicately, and the clouds, like the flesh of the mortal body, protected the individual from the glorious burning of the sun. If, of course, 'sun' was the correct spelling of the word he used. His eyes were glowing, filled with a sudden, unspeakable love, before he sighed and allowed their hands to swing again.
"And isn't it grand!"he said without missing a step. He didn't seem to miss the fact, though, that she was a winter spirit."Even during the cool of the wintertime, the sun makes the snow sparkle, it warms rosy cheeks and lets the ice shine like prisms!"He paused, however, when they reached the gardens. His mouth snapped shut, eyes filling with curiosity. He glanced down at her when she gushed about how beautiful it was. He watched as a flower frosted at her touch and his eyes glimmered. Those eyes quickly lifted to her face when she asked if they could walk around the gardens for a bit. His lips curled into an amused smile."Heh. You had to suffer through hearing me talk so I think it is time we do what you want to do."
He allowed her to lead him where she wanted to go, releasing her hand so she could walk freely. He still held her suitcase, eyes looking around him but also lingering on her from time to time to see her face. He stopped when she stopped, eyes lingering in the rippling water. His wings folded closer to his body, clearly visible to his eyes in the rippling water. His lips drooped some, a content smile pulling at his lips. He listened to what she had to say without comment. He shook his head when she apologized and said that that was likely something very random to say. He even looked amused, especially since he had been the one talking previously. Instead, he looked down at the flowers around them."Flowers are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty out-values all the utilities of the world,"he quoted with his hand resting against his cheek. But he lifted his opposite hand and poked her nose with a small smile."Flowers don't worry about how they're going to bloom. They just open up and turn toward the light and that makes them beautiful. The flower that follows the sun does so even in cloudy days."But he was silent for a little bit when he pulled his hand back and looked towards the place around them. His gaze was distant, neither troubled or jubilant. Instead, he seemed almost meditative, taking in everything. When he did speak, it was in that same tone of voice.
"There is so much beauty, Eirawen. There is beauty wherever you turn your head, whenever you open your eyes. The tiny, beautiful miracles are the ones most taken for granted. The one whose eyes can open to see the vast, blue sky. The one who cannot can feel the warm of the sun against his cheeks. Is it not a miracle to see the flowers of the summer disappear beneath the snows only to open their fragile petals through the ice to welcome the sun of the spring? The ones who cover their heads forget the rain that settles on the leaves or the sweet scent of the air as the rains fall. Those who can hear can listen to the sound of the rain against the windowpane and those who cannot need only to stretch out their fingers and feel the cool moisture. There is a whole world at our fingertips, one so terrifyingly beautiful. There is so much more than what can be seen with the eyes but what is is so wondrous! Beyond our senses is a world you feel with the beating of your heart and the breath of your lungs. It dances across your skin and kisses your mouth. It fills your lungs and dances on the wind. All that has life dances in a world wrapped around imagination. The world grows old while the child sees with his eyes an unspeakable beauty. Those who see with the eyes of a child sees a world of three-dimensional color. Yet as we grow older our shoulders grow heavy with the knowledge of the world learned by those other than ourselves. Human curiosity is the viewer of beauty yet it is also the undoer of wonder. The more that is known, the less we wonder. The more we have, the more we take advantage of it. We see light because we know darkness, and know darkness because we know what it means to not have light. Yet one who does not know the darkness only wonders and sees the colors of a beautiful warmth. It is something that simply is and fills a heart that always wonders, hopes and believes."He turned his eyes to watch her, those child-like eyes appearing now almost old but not tired."We can all learn a lesson or two from a child. It is the most heinous of crimes to destroy the imagination and wonder of a child."
He straightened and took her hand again as he had the suitcase in tow."There are other things to see!"
Faith is a knowledge within the heart, beyond the reach of proof.
xxxAbdiel, he was just wonderful. Such a gentleman too, carrying her suitcase for her even though she was more than capable of wheeling the lightweight thing behind her. His good-natured reply to her idea had been very welcome too, but the most surprising thing had been when he'd just stopped suddenly and removed her collar. She wasn't the kind of person to press an issue, and would have certainly understood if he didn't want to remove the collar this early, but without question he'd done it. Admittedly the way he'd looked at her before doing so had been quite unsettling, like she'd already put a foot out of line, but the way he'd taken her hand once the collar was gone clearly showed that even he'd experienced some relief once her collar had been taken off. It was nice to know that he had somewhat understood her suffocated feeling thanks to the collar. He even seemed to speak more freely with her, like some kind of wall had been lifted. It was so refreshing to walk with someone that found pleasures in the smallest things too, because it made her notice them too. Like the way he described a red-breasted robin flying freely in the sky, the swirling clouds making it look like it was riding waves of the ocean. He was quite poetic in the way he spoke, even when swapping seamlessly between somewhat sad topics and rather happy ones.
xxxHis little quip about wintertime hadn't been forgotten as they wandered the gardens either. 'Even during the cool of the wintertime, the sun makes the snow sparkle, it warms rosy cheeks and lets the ice shine like prisms!' His words rang in her head as she stared out over the water in the gardens, feeling just a little embarrassed from before when she gave her little speech. It had been very sudden, and she felt just a little bit like she'd stepped out of line. Even after the collar had been removed, she was still a slave. But yet, when his voice sounded, she couldn't help but look up at him, his quoted words almost drawing her gaze up to him like she was entranced. Shutting her eyes with a soft 'chuu' sound as her nose was poked, the grin on Eirawen's face matched Abdiel's goofy one almost perfectly as he continued to speak. Looking out over the gardens as he did, they stood in silence again, an almost meditative silence for a little while.
xxxAgain, like a spell was cast over her, Eirawen simply just absorbed every word that Abdiel spoke. Looking down at their reflections, the more he spoke, the more she was sure she could see something different about his reflection. Not just that, but the way he spoke was so poetic, it wasn't like any sort of thing she'd heard from a human. Sure the human poets were good, but the way Abdiel spoke, there was a special something in his voice that made her believe that there was something about him that she just couldn't put her finger on. Eirawen knew she could keep her promise about not falling in love with him, but it didn't mean she couldn't fall in love with his voice and words. Shutting her eyes as he spoke of a world felt with the beat of a heart and the breath in your lungs, she could feel the dancing sensation over her lips, the tingling in her lungs, her spirit soaring higher and higher with each poetic word. Unaware that Abdiel was watching her revel in the trance he'd cast upon her, Eirawen just let the feeling encase her mind and soul, a serene look on her face as she kept her face turned to the sky, the sun making her skin tingle.
xxxFeeling eyes upon her, Eira slowly turned her face around to meet Abdiel's gaze, his youthful eyes looking much older and wiser for the moment. Was this a small glimmer at the man he really was? For that short moment, she was sure that there had been a slight shimmer of light behind him, a trick of the eye maybe? Because she was pretty sure she hadn't seen any sign of wings on him earlier, in the shadows or otherwise. It must have been a trick, a shimmering outline of wings just didn't seem to make any sense. Surprise registering on Eira's face as her hand was taken, the surprise quickly turned to joy. "Yes! There's the whole garden to see!" Laughing a little, the umbrella held back over her head again to shield her from the sun, their easy pace soon turned into a light, carefree jog. Being out in the open had never felt so good, even if she was in the sun right now. The further through the gardens they walked, the more at peace Eirawen was, and walking hand-in-hand with the man she'd only known maybe a couple of hours by now wasn't something that bothered her. He gave off the most comforting aura, and when she caught some of his movement from the corners of her eye - whether it was his boyish glee at pointing out a particularly beautiful butterfly or plant - she was pretty sure there was something she just wasn't really seeing about him, and that was a pretty cool feeling.
xxxAs the pair came close to doing a full loop around the gardens, the sound of children's laughter caught Eira's attention and stepping aside to let a small group of happy children run past, a lone child nearly ran headlong into her to catch up to his friends. "Sorry miss..." He said quietly, brushing down his pants from the small tumble he'd taken. Bending down to help him up, Eira smiled at him while his friends lingered nearby. "Careful! And hurry up! The snow cone man will be gone soon!" Eyes widening a little, Eirawen got in quick before the boy could run off. "There's a man here selling snow cones?" She questioned, which seemed to make the young boy perk up too. "Yeah! He hangs out at the entrance at the same time every day! We don't eat in the park, we don't want to accidentally drop rubbish." Thanking the child and standing to watch the boy run off with his friends, she turned her childish grin up to Abdiel. "Can we go get some? Snow cones are my favourite treat." Blushing just a little, it seemed like her joy was spurring on the male, and hurrying just like the excited kids, they made their way to the colourful little cart that was waiting outside the gardens.
xxxIt wasn't until they got close enough that Eirawen remembered to address an important point - Abdiel had never heard of snow cones before. Promising to explain when they got to the cart, she smiled up at the male. "It's really simple - it's a cup filled with ice shavings, and a sweet syrup is poured over to give the ice flavour. You get to pick your favourites - sour cherry is my favourite." Again, she blushed like she was admitting something very secret about herself, but thankfully, just like with the scones in the hotel, Abdiel seemed to be quite interested. Not exactly doing the best job of explaining snow cones or how they should be eaten, Eirawen took over the task of asking the man for the items, showing the man with her all the different flavoured sugary syrups he could choose from, and becoming quite surprised when the man selling the treats said they were on the house, because they were his last two for the day - and because they were "such a nice couple and were very kind." Not really understanding what the man meant with that comment, Eirawen just couldn't stop thanking the man until he was out of sight, and the two went to sit down on a bench just outside the gardens under a shady tree.
xxxThe cold treat was exactly what the ice maiden needed. The cold ice crystals on her tongue sent happy goosebumps across her body, and after only a few small mouthfuls, her lips were already stained dark red. Cheekily though, Eirawen may have started to use her powers to keep the treat in her hands from melting too fast, but it also came with the double effect of making it colder, which made the woman much happier. Her first taste of a snow cone had been from one of her first masters who thought it would be a cute little treat for the woman; an icy treat for a woman who could create snow without any thought. It had taken a number of tries for her to find a flavour she liked, and the sweet but sour taste of the black cherry syrup was simply perfect in her eyes. Feet swinging a little bit in happiness as she took a few moments to enjoy this simple little treat, she was trying not to let Abdiel's inexperience with the treat get her attention too much, otherwise she knew she'd start to mother him. But it was innocently adorable, she couldn't deny that. He was innocently adorable, in the most fantastic way.

His head tilted up, eyes seeming to brighten though the tilt of his lips did not change. The sound of children's laughter reached his ears and his fingers loosened lightly from hers just before the collision. He could have easily pulled her away so there would not have been one but he wouldn't interfere. Instead, his eyes fell to the boy who dropped to the ground with a light thud after not watching where he was going. Her hand slid from his and he watched as she quickly went to his side to help him up. His eyes turned from her, though, to watch the others who were waiting anxiously for their friend to accompany them. He couldn't help but smile again at that little fact, sensing their excitement and impatience yet they waited for their friend to catch up so as to not leave him behind. He had always loved children even if they were not all like this. They called to him and Eirawen's reaction was immediate. It was not a word he recognized but he could put the two words together to come up with an idea, right?
Snow Cones. Cone made out of snow or snow on a cone? It seemed odd since there shouldn't be any snow this time of the year in this area though there was snow in the mountains so he could have gotten it there...
He blinked, almost jumping when he was startled out of his thoughts by her presence. His eyes were owlish before he blinked again and looked at the children who were running away, whooping with laughter. It was something exciting, very exciting. The kids were joyous and Eirawen was calling them her favorite treat. Their joy appeared to rub off on her for there didn't seem to be anything stopping her from going to take a look. No, correction, she wanted one. He stuffed his hands in his pockets and laughed. Of course they would be her favorite treat, it seemed obvious. Though he was curious to why these "snow cones" were so exciting. Maybe because there was no snow during this time of the year so having some of it was exciting? His brows pulled together with a smile frown. So they ate the snow during the wintertime? If not, that was very odd. But it was still odd. And then he realized he was being left behind. with a shrug of his shoulders he grinned again and took off after them.
He wasn't far behind so he found them gathered around a pretty little colored cart. He pulled up to her side and glanced over her shoulder as she looked up at him. His brows lifted when she spoke to him, and his lips parted. It appeared she recognized the fact he had no idea what this was. It seemed he was a bit off but not entirely which made him exceedingly proud. Snow on a cone. Well, sort of since snow was crushed ice.... no, that wasn't right either but snow was ice! Ice crystals but pretty close. He knew about snow. Snow didn't change, he knew those things but this snow cones thing was different and were interesting. So, they crushed up ice, put it in a cup - or cone? - then they poured syrup over it to give it flavor? Seemed reasonable enough. And her favorite flavor was sour cherry? He pressed his fist to his chin and grinned at her when she blushed in embarrassment. He didn't say anything but instead gave her a wink.
He let her take over with this part because of her expertise in the field. He soaked it all in with a now serious face. He didn't know what "on the house" meant but it seemed to make her very happy. He looked around in confusion. There weren't any houses unless he made these on his roof? No, that was very silly. Of course it meant he got the ice from the top of his house. He lived in the mountains so it must be extra special.
"Uh? O-oh... um, that one..."He pointed quickly to one of the syrups. A green one and it looked nice. He liked the color green. He shook his head lightly when called a couple and he gave the man a faint smile. He took his snow cone and followed after her to a place beneath one of the trees. It was outside of the gardens so a few people walked by but they weren't bothered. The only thing was, she didn't give him any pointers on how to eat it. She held it in her hands though he didn't pay much attention to what she was doing. Instead, he scrutinized his own treat with its sparkling ice shavings and the green liquid syrup that was drizzled over the top and sank deeper into the cup. It was pretty, really, and he felt almost bad about eating something so lovely. He wasn't sure how he was supposed to eat it, though. He didn't have any spoon or fork to eat it with and it would be very hard to get it out of the bottom without one. So did that mean there wasn't supposed to be any paper then? With no utensils you had to eat something with your hands, he knew and it seemed only reasonable that the cup - well, actually cone - was just supposed to hold it. That was what it was for, right? The man couldn't have just taken a spoon and scooped it up to plop it into his hands! That would be absolutely silly. And messy too. But the syrup would be messy without its container. Then again, it was leaking inside of the ice shavings so it wasn't really on the top anymore. And it was so closely packed together it wouldn't fall apart. Like snowballs! It made perfect sense.
He turned it around in his hands and found the end of the wrapper and began to pick at it. It gave easily so that was obviously the right approach! He unwrapped it more and eventually he had it all unraveled. It sat on top of the wrapped and he moved his hand to pick it up. And it was so nicely packed together! It should not have done that. It collapsed and spilled into the palms of his linked hands. He paused, frowning deeply. He glanced at her. She hadn't unraveled hers, she was biting into it, though. His brows pulled together and he looked back at the ice and syrup that dripped over his fingers. Well... Bending down, he tried eating it that way, looking completely frustrated. Oh, and I forget to mention it was cold? His hand lifted and lowered several times and his knees bounced at it made his fingers and palms colder. Eventually, he quickly tried stuffing it all in his mouth. Pulling his hands back, his eyes widened and he glanced at her helplessly with his cheeks puffed out.
Cold.
He shook his hands quickly that were sticky and wet. His tongue was frozen. he chewed and tried to swallow, eventually getting it down. Groaned and stuck his tongue to the roof of his mouth because of brain freeze. He needed to clean up. Badly. At least the sun was warming up his hands a bit though his mouth and hands were sticky. His fingers and tongue were stained green.
"It was good,"he forced out with a hoarse voice."Lots."

xxxToo focussed on the joy of her own cold treat, Eirawen had forgotten one very important thing; Abdiel was far more naive to the world than she was. He didn't know how to properly attack a snow cone, and while she was far happier to just bite into it (most sane humans used a little spoon), she didn't take into the equation that the ice was much colder to him than it was to her cold-loving skin. Off in her own little world, Eira didn't hear the subtle sound of the wrapper tearing, nor the sound of material shuffling as he bounced his knees. It wasn't until she heard the muffled sounds of someone suffering from brain freeze along with a rapid intake of breath from shock that she turned to face Abdiel and gasped in shock. "Oh my! I'm sorry!" Placing a hand in front of her lips to hide her open mouth, the smallest of apologetic smiles crossed Eirawen's face as she sighed gently, chuckling merrily at his comment on the food.
xxx"Oh sweetie, I should have warned you. I'm so sorry, I was off in my own daydream. We should have got you a spoon, it would have been easier; I'm too used to the cold." Plucking a large chunk of her almost finished syrupy snowball, she popped it into her mouth without a worry, the dark red syrup staining her lips even more, an interesting contrast to her pale skin tone. The green syrup wasn't hard to miss, and humming in thought, the woman had an idea. "Here, let's clean you up." Holding the remains of her snow cone in one hand, her free hand gently danced over the sticky green patches on his hands. Fingers moving like a dancer, the green syrup began to harden and re-freeze. "This will get cold, but at least you'll be clean and not so sticky anymore." With another cheerful chuckle, the re-frozen syrup began to stick to her fingers which had begun to glisten like an icicle. Hands clean, without a thought the woman tidied up Abdiel's chin and other parts of his lower face afflicted by the sticky green syrup. In no time at all the male was clean and free of sticky green syrup, and Eirawen had a new taste to her own snow cone. Crumbling the green onto her own ice shavings, she unabashedly licked the remains off her fingers.
xxx"Oh! Lime! I haven't tried this flavour before. It's really nice." Smiling happily, Eira looked at Abdiel for a moment, before suddenly grinning. Balancing the cone between her knees, out of the moisture in the air, an ice spoon was crafted, and Eirawen looked even happier than before. "I've missed being able to use my skills..." She breathed out, dipping the icy implement into the syrupy ice left in her cone. "Here, try mine. I've tasted your one, so it's only fair you sample mine. I like to share." Holding the spoon, she winked. "You can touch the spoon if you want, but it's just pure ice. It may be best I feed it to you." Waiting a moment for Abdiel to process the information, without a worry, Eirawen fed the mouthful to Abdiel, anxiously waiting on his reaction to her favourite flavour. The sour cherry wasn't the most liked flavour by children, it was definitely a more 'adult' taste, but it was still sweet enough for her tongue, and judging by how happily she devoured the rest of her treat with the ice spoon (the fact she was using the same spoon she just fed Abdiel with didn't bother her in the slightest), it was a taste she very much liked.
xxxSitting on the bench in silence for a while, Eirawen turned to Abdiel. "Is there anywhere you need to stop off before home? I don't mind walking more if you need to run any errands." Tapping her feet on the ground, making a random tune, the woman stood up and took the wrapper from Abdiel, placing it and her own in the bin nearby. The parasol was re-opened, and lifting it back above her head, Eirawen stood before Abdiel with a small smile - it seemed like the smile was a permanent feature on the womans face. "Wherever you want to go, I'll go too. I'm more than happy to walk, I've got this parasol so I won't be in the direct sun, and now the collars off I can keep myself cool. Especially after that icy treat." Chuckling, the icy treat devoured just moments ago would aid Eira in keeping her core temperature down, her digestive tract making use of the water from the ice to store in her body for use later on. Twirling the parasol in her hands, all she could do was smile. Everything was so amazing right now! The fresh air, the fact they were walking home, the free frozen treats, being around Abdiel. Ever since her collar was removed things had just become so... Amazing!
xxxBut Eira wasn't going to let the sudden rush of her powers coming back go to her head. Just because she could freeze things with a simple touch didn't mean she could. It was rude to do so, unless asked. She planned to teach the children Abdiel had mentioned earlier about snow, ice and frost and how it affected and also helped the Earth, as well as demonstrating each effect. Oh to live in the mountains, that was also exciting! Letting her mind wander as she gracefully walked a few loops in front of Abdiel, she began to daydream, a serene look settling on his face. What kind of house did he have? Was it large and open, or small and cosy? How many animals were around, depending on how high up the mountain they were. Did he have a pool for warmer months? Or even a spa? The thought of dipping into a warm spa or sauna before dancing around in the snow certainly appealed to the maiden, even if back many centuries ago the dancing in the snow consisted of an utterly bare woman dancing in the snow, looking more like a living ice sculpture than a naked female. When Eirawen realised she'd been off in her own little world for quite a while now, a blush rose to her cheeks and she covered her mouth to hide an embarrassed laugh. "Oh.. Oh dear, I'm so sorry! I hope I didn't ignore you, dear! I sort of... Went off into my own little world there." With another hesitant laugh and a rub of the back of her neck, the blush remained on Eirawen's face as she looked at Abdiel, trying to figure out if she'd upset him in any way by spacing off.

Abdiel sighed when she realized he had gotten himself into trouble and spread his hands helplessly."I'm just experimenting,"he responded with a shrug of his shoulders and voice deceptively mild. He turned his eyes to her when she said they should clean him up. He looked uncertain for a moment but kept his hands where they were in a frozen position of defeat. He let her do as she wanted, watching her with mild curiosity. In fact, the only thing that moved were his eyes following her fingers lazily. He didn't look the least bit upset anymore though it wasn't certain just what was going on in his mind as he watched her. It was obvious, though, that she found this situation incredibly hilarious. Besides, it was curious watching her do what she did. She froze the syrup then picked it up so it would come off of his hands. It was cold but luckily not painfully so. It tingled more than anything though likely because of the warmth after the cold. So when she was done, he pulled his hands back and shrugged his shoulders.
"Lime?"he repeated in surprise, brows pulling together. He hadn't thought it was lime but, then again, he hadn't been able to taste it as well as he would have liked. Tasting something cold too much at once really made it hard to taste things. Especially since they froze your tastebuds and it would be a fair assumption to say it would be hard to taste it. The same thing went with hot things, though. He had thought it had been green apple. That was a bit embarrassing but luckily he hadn't said anything about it. Though she offered to let him try hers and his eyes widened a bit."Oh, no, it is my fault!"he disagreed quickly when she offered the spoon filled with the crushed eyes and red syrup. He certainly wasn't against eating it since it actually looked tantalizing. From what he had actually tasted from his, it was quite good. Hers was a totally different flavor. Though, he couldn't deny her when she was giving him that sort of look. So he leaned in and opened his mouth for her. Pulling back, he chewed it, let it rest on his tongue before swallowing. His face brightened and he laughed."Thank you, it's delicious."
Perhaps he would get some of that. It was just crushed ice and not actual snow but he wondered if it could be made with snow. Might not be all that sanitary but it was fascinating. Take a cup and dip it in the snow outside then add something sweet on top! He would certainly have to try that at least. The snow was pretty much year-round though during the height of the summer it melted for a short time to give mild, warm weather then it was gone again. So it wasn't as if he had to wait for winter to come to try it out. Actually, he was quite eager to!
"I didn't have anything planned,"he responded as he placed both feet firmly on the ground."I'm glad you're feeling better. I don't want you being out in the sun too long if it is painful for you or difficult in anyway. Do not be afraid to tell me if you are. If you want we can explore the gardens for a bit longer before we reach home or we can sit here and rest for the long walk."It took him a bit too long to notice she wasn't actually paying attention to a word he was saying. In fact, she was pacing back and forth with a happy little smile on her face. He blinked slowly. He probably would have continued but he fell silent. Yeah, she wasn't paying attention. He wasn't upset but eventually an amused smile appeared on his lips. He couldn't interrupt that. Something was going on in her head that he didn't think he needed to interrupt. He had plenty of time and it wasn't like they were in any rush. The only thing they would have to worry about was getting there before nightfall. By where the sun was positioned, though, he didn't know if that was going to happen. Not that he minded the darkness. He just did not know if she did. Besides, it would be better to be home and comfortable when night fall instead of trudging through the dark. He gazed at the setting sun with his face distant. Oh well, there was not much he could do about that now.
And, not long after, heard an embarrassed laugh which caused him to turn his head in her direction and look. Her hand was over her mouth and her cheeks had turned red in a blush. His brows lifted and he brushed his long hair over his shoulder with a smile. She was apologizing now so he laughed and at move to his feet. With a few strides he was at her side and back of his warm hand touching her cheek."There is nothing to worry about. But I accept your apology. Let's head home and see where that takes us, shall we?"He pulled his hand back and instead offered it to her. His fingers curled around hers."Let's grab your suitcase and be on our way. We probably won't get back by nighttime but it will be alright. You don't mind the cold and the darkness is nothing to worry about."He could easily take care of that. So, he looked around the gardens for a moment."We can return another day, of course, but I think that is enough for today. There is more we can explore later. besides, I think you'll enjoy simply exploring the home I inherited..."From a long line of the extremely wealthy. It was a bit - a lot - excessive but it could be put to good use.
So, they continued their journey towards his residence. It was much quieter on his part this time but he seemed completely content with that. The sun was going down and that cast shades of pink and violet on the clouds and the land. His eyes scanned the changing colors, humming softly to himself with a slight sway of his fingers that weren't holding her hand. He also didn't look in the least bit tired, even holding her suitcase over his shoulder. He did stop a few times to let her rest whether she needed to or not before they continued on. he did feel bad for making her walk though he didn't have much choice and it was very nice. They had simple conversation as they went along and as the world got darker, it got more difficult to see where they were going. Eventually, the man stopped and set the suitcase down on the ground. He released her hand while doing so and switched so he was holding the suitcase there instead."I hope you don't mind. I'll need both of my hands now."He gave her a smile then straightened and lifted his now free hand. His palm was turned upwards near his head. For a moment nothing happened before a light glow began to form in the air above his hand. It seemed to spin slowly and wasn't a flame. It seemed to grow from his finger tips, escaping to form a globe of white light. It illuminated the world around them for several feet so the leaves looked like they were touched with frost. His face looked sharply pronounced with it as well as her own. He examined it for a moment before lowering his hand a bit to waist level. Turning his eyes to her, smiled."There, now we don't have to worry about getting lost in the dark."There was no warmth coming from that globe of light that was no larger than his fist. But at the same time it did feel warm.
It wasn't long after that before they reached the mountains and began to wind their way up its roads. After an hour had passed, he suddenly stopped and turned his head to the right. He lifted his hand to bring the light higher and smiled. "Ah, here we are." He pointed upwards. At first there couldn't be seen very much because of the bright light he held in front of them before he extinguished it. After that, the light of the stars flooded down and outlined the peaks above them. A road winded its way up at the right of where they were standing and there stood the outline of the Jasiek house. In all its massive glory. He sighed."A bit excessive, isn't it? Well, let's go up and get some rest. You probably want a thorough shower and to change your clothes."
