The man just laughed and rubbed the red splotch on his cheek, not at all bothered by her rage. "What did you expect? I'm a guy!" he laughed again before looking at her with that cute smile of his. "And it got you to say my name, after all."

"This is why we can't be friends," she said, bending over to pick up her things. "All you can think about is sex. Our conversations can't have any depth because all you want to talk about is sex and dating. I mean, really Fortunado! Can't you keep it in your pants long enough to hold a decent conversation with me?" Standing up straight, she spinned to face him.

Immediately Fortunado got in front of her and placed his hands on her arms, keeping her stranded in front of him as he gazed into her eyes deeply. "Don't you dare act like you haven't once in your life thought this over yourself."

"It does matter! This very moment matters!" Fortunado pressed, his words and his gaze intense and passionate as his mind was set. "I may be an idiot at times, usually a pervert, but you must know that I never do it because I want to make you uneasy. I do it because-" He paused and gulped. For a second he felt like passing it off as a joke and hastily retreating, but he had to get this off his chest. "-I love you."

Aliana stood completely still for a moment, then yanked herself from his grip and slapped him again. "Do you think this is some kind of game? You tell me you love me and pretend like it's true long enough to sleep with me? How stupid do you think I am?" Turning her back to him, the girl swallowed back tears. "I don't think we should talk anymore, Fortunado...maybe if you were a girl, things would be different. But you're not, and you just have to accept that your gender is something I want nothing to do with." With that said, she walked away, not looking back once, even when she realized she'd left her school bag full of extra uniforms that she was supposed to drop off at the cleaners.

Completely dumbstruck with the answer, Fortunado stared off into the direction his head was forced to face from the impact of the slap, eyes wide and a red hand print forming on his cheek. By the time he recovered, Aliana had left with her words hanging over his head.
"Aliana..." Fortunado said in barely a whisper as he watched her retreat. Despite how hurtful her words were to him, she had a point. She would never trust him like how she trusted the girls at her school.
Frustrated and upset, the young man clenched his fist and slammed a fist against the nearest tree, causing only an apple to fall and hit his head. That didn't help his rage, and the young man turned to kick the apple when he noticed that it had rolled over to Aliana's spare uniform and her books.
"Maybe if you were a girl, things would be different. But you're not, and you just have to accept that your gender is something I want nothing to do with."
As Fortunado's head rang with the words and his gaze stayed on the clothes, a plan formed and a lightbulb sprouted from his head. An ingenious plan! A perfect plan!
Yes, yes he knew what to do!
Fortunado took a quick sweep of the area to make sure nobody was watching. After waiting for a few little kids to run back to their mommies and leave him alone, he picked Aliana's stuff up and ran to his home as quickly as possible.
