The events that had led up to this moment had been filled with confusion, rooms and keys, shards and bewilderment. All Herryk had wanted to do was play. He'd wanted to be happy - that wasn't such a bad thing, was it? A game of tag, a game of hide and seek. Fun. Enjoyment. It wouldn't hurt to forget about his worries and troubles for a moment, would it? As he caught sight of himself-but-different, Herryk rubbed his jaw with a large paw. The him-but-different stood, broodingly, eyes narrowed with an ugly, terrifying expression on his face. Quote: Herryk HP: 20/20 Element: Dark No key, no shard.

"Herryk forgot this one." At the spoken 'this one' the distorted doppelganger lifted a brutish, massive paw and thudded it twice against his chest. Herryk took a step forward, muscles rippling as he moved stiffly towards himself. "How could Herryk forget? Why would Herryk want to forget? Does Herryk not remember how it felt to crush and kill? To mutilate and destroy? How could Herryk forget the thrill he felt - the trance?" Quote: Herryk - Reflection HP: 20/20 Element: Dark

It took Herryk a moment to digest the other wolf's words, ears pinning back. He didn't like the way he looked at himself - like he was bigger, badder, stronger. "Herryk did not forget," he snarled, baring his teeth. He hadn't forgotten. It had just been too easy to get swept up in Freya, in his friends, in prom. It had been too easy to push it to the back of his mind. It had always been there, though. The warm spray of blood against his chest and face, the scent of it on the air. "Herryk did not forget," he repeated and instant before he lunged, sharp teeth snapping in rage. Quote: Herryk HP: 20/20 Element: Dark Dark Modifier: +1

Herryk let out a howl of pain and outrage as teeth snapped against his shoulder. "Herryk forgot," he snarled, the end of the second word lifting in a pained screech. "Herryk forgot because Herryk is afraid to remember. There is a void in Herryk, isn't there?" He'd turned pleading. "For a moment Herryk could almost remember. For a moment Herryk felt close to recalling who he used to be. Herryk could remember again." He pressed a massive paw against the teeth that clamped securely to his shoulder in an attempt to loose himself. Quote: Herryk - Reflection HP: 15/20 Element: Dark Dark Modifier: +1

Herryk's breath - breath, how long had it been since he'd felt such a thing - came in fast, sharp pants through the teeth that bit in at the shoulder. He pressed down, down, down. He could remember every moment of the trance on the Isle of Death. He could remember each crunching, splintering bone; each wet sucking sound that half-decapitated humans had made; each cry of agony; each foamy, gurgling sound of final breaths. He wanted to feel it again. It was impossible - one does not simply walk into the human world to pillage. Kill. Murder. Crush, destroy, ravage. Herryk rearranged his mouth on the other's shoulder, teeth sinking in deeper. He hadn't forgotten. Quote: Herryk HP: 17/20 Element: Dark Dark Modifier: +1

"Herryk remembers, but Herryk is afraid. What would Freya think? What would Freya do with a boilfriend who knows the feel of such destruction, who hungers for it once more? Who yearns to feel the slick sticky damp of blood once again, hmm? What would Freya do?" Herryk didn't know. He wasn't sure he wanted to find out, but... how could he keep denying the way he felt? How could he keep pretending to be someone he didn't really think he was? Someone who looked after the younger students, someone who had a herd of foxfires - someone who sang to them like they were scarelings? "That is not Herryk. That was never Herryk. Remember how it felt?" He tried to push away again, yowling softly, pleadingly. "Do not forget." Quote: Herryk - Reflection HP: 13/20 Element: Dark Dark Modifier: +1

No, he had to forget. Remembering would do no good. He had a new life now. He'd woken up. He had a new life in undeath here. He had his beloved - the one ghoul that he would do anything for. Anything. Anything. He clenched his jaw down, felt the subtle give and tear of skin, felt fur fill his mouth. Herryk could not afford to remember, much as he wanted to. There was no way. Silence. Still time to press his case. "It is nothing to be ashamed of. Does Herryk remember the false reapers? There is a reason they keep coming to attack us. Herryk is a draugr. A dead Viking, Herryk is. Does Herryk never wonder how many women he has raped, how many men he has killed, how many towns he has razed and pillaged, burned to the ground?" A pause. "Until death took Herryk - but now, Herryk cannot die. Herryk can only dissipate, and come back. More death, more killing. The bloodlust is there, Herryk needs only embrace it. Use it. Kill them before they can kill Herryk, or Freya." A thready whine. "Freya." He snorted, made another attempt to scrabble away. "Does this ghoul truly love Herryk? Really? How many boils has Freya kissed, hmm? Does Herryk really trust her?" Herryk panted softly, his distorted greenish eyes glowing eerily. "Does he?" His toothy grip on the other wolf faltered. His blue eyes were wide, unblinking. Of course he trusted Freya. She hadn't kissed another boil since Kettil, had she? Had she? If she had, would she tell him? The fact that he was doubting her - that he was doubting her loyalty - only outraged him further. Quote: Herryk HP: 9/20 Element: Dark Dark Modifier: +1
