Sevilin was just as shocked as the sea serpent when the long-eared frei shot something thick and sour from her hand or her pores (he wasn't totally sure which). Instinctively, he turned his head away as the spray blinded the monster and splattered against his cheek.
Thankfully, he didn't get it in his eyes and the only repercussion was the strange smell. It wasn't like a squid's ink which was bitter and disgusting... This was more like the sharp metallic smell of a broken fountain pen. Weird was the only thought the blue raven had time for. Right now, he needed to hurry their ribbons up and away from this deteriorating situation. Eventually the ink would wash away with the waves, and the beast would be back with a vengeance.
Pumping his wings as hard as he could, he grabbed Lulu under the arms and scrambled for the top of the cliff. His soft, civilized hands were turning red and raw from the rock surface. The jagged handholds cut into the fleshy skin of his palms, but it was a negligible distraction from being so grateful to be alive and not fish food. The irony would just be too much to die with.
Surrounded by the screams of the serpent and the crashing foam against the cliff peak, their ragged breaths were little more than the buzz of a fly as his hand found purchase on the flat ground at the top of the cliff. But first he had to hoist Lulu's fat torso up there! "Heave!" He bellowed over the chaos below them with a great shove against her breast.

Lu wasted no time in scrambling up the cliff with Sevilin. It would be hard not to given the fact the sea fairy had both of his flimsy forearms hooked under her armpits and was giving it his all to yank her up the vertical plane. Lu's keen ears could almost hear the muscles his wings were connected to pumping miserably. Her fingers nimbly hooked onto wet stone after wet stone until she found the rocks' surfaces becoming dryer and the serpent's screams becoming quieter. She could nearly see it now. Solid land! Her fingertips brushed against the lush surface of green grass and a wave of pure bliss crashed over LuLu. They would live!
She rose up and with one last shove the frei was sent tumbling onto the flat surface she had been dreaming of this whole time. Nevertheless, Sevilin was still not out of danger's way just yet. Worst of all, the beast had returned for more. The creature was all gnashing teeth as it slammed its head into the cliff. The leviathan was ready to go all out for its supper now that it had been thwarted for so long.
With a weak growl to call forth whatever strength she had left, LuLu grabbed both of Sevilin's shoulders and dragged him up by his shirt. Inch by grueling inch, LuLu drew him closer to crossing the threshold. Both of them were almost in the comforting embrace of safety. A final yell fell from the rabbit's lips as she pulled Sevilin on top of her. The girl fell back onto the cool grass, spent.
LuLu panted heavily trying to regain her breath enough to speak again. It felt good when she was finally able to say what had been on her mind ever since she hand flopped limply onto dry land. "We made it Sev! We made it." She could not help but crack a smile. Probably the first one in a long while.
She finally noticed the stain her attack had left on Sevvie's cheek. The pitch black looked ridiculous on his fair complexion. LuLu brought a hand up to his face. Her finger swiped away the small mess. Yet, they stayed there for a moment. Her eyes were locked with his. Face to face.

Sevilin didn't have it in him to try and get off the girl. It wasn't like he weighed much anyway, so he figured his petite frame wasn't crushing anything important. His arms were trembling so bad beside Lulu's head as he stared dazedly down at her. Honestly, his blue gaze was miles away as he tried to regain any semblance of strength or composure after that damn climb.
It wasn't until the blond raevan put her hand on his face that he began to notice her. Looking to the side to see her face, the sea fairy felt numb to almost everything except the joy of being alive. His smile was as pale as hers, but it took too much effort to grin any more delightedly. Hopefully it was still a stellar expression, because it ate up the last of his energy. His arms went out from under him, sending him dropping like a broken doll onto Lulu. Blue hair covering them both like a curtain, his pale face was a stark contrast against the dark skin at the crook of her neck. The rise and fall of her chest was hypnotic and comforting as he curled closer to her.
Actually, he supposed it wasn't really the rhythm of her chest so much as the smell of her. She was as damp as he after that race to remain alive and whole. Every ounce of salt water was practically squeezed out of his body, out his pores, and used to power just enough strength to pull them up and over the cliff. And now, so close to the girl, he could smell the salt on her as well. Opening his mouth, his pink tongue swiped over her neck to the nourishing flavor of salt that he craved.

LuLu was content to lay with Sevilin like a pair of drowned rats until Josh and We'rika came looking for them. She almost did not catch the wet slide of the other raevan's tongue against her already damp skin until he went in for another delicate stroke. The rabbit's eyes went wide. Both her elbows dug into the ground and kicked up blades of grass as she twisted away from his touch. The girl used that momentum to flip Sevvie over, probably using a bit too much force in the process considering even a wet Sevilin weighed about as much as a Pomeranian.
Her own torso came crashing down on top of him. One of her hands reached up to draw the strings of her hoodie tighter and hide her neck from the hungry frei. She did not want him getting any more curious or give him a chance to find the black splotches her clothing was hiding. She whispered furiously, "What are you doing?"
Her eyes finally met his again. Sevilin still looked as pitiful as a soaked tissue. Even his hair was now dotted with grass and weeds from their tumble. Nevertheless, LuLu could not help but feel a pang of something endearing about the way he appeared. Maybe the afterglow of living for another day was fogging up her mind, but it felt like Sevvie was right were he belonged. Underneath her with a stupidly tired look on his face. Wait, what?! LuLu shook her head to clear her mind. Yet, Sevilin was still there looking like the aftermath of one of their brawls. Almost as though she could have been the one to do all this to him. Another jolt of something unfamiliar shot through her.
LuLu recoiled from Sev like he was a hot stove. Her ears were moving frantically beneath her hoodie as willed her blood away from her cheeks. "Who would want your dirty mouth on them!?" Her hands shot up to cover her face when she realized she had lost the fight against blushing. "NOT ME!" The added volume was for her own benefit, struggling to get her instincts to listen to her rational side.

"H-Hey--!" If he technically had lungs, the air would have been knocked out of them when his back suddenly hit the unyielding earth. Sevilin wasn't quite sure what exactly happened; he had found sanctuary on the top of the cliff from the monster and now his head was reeling from an erratic shove.
"Uh my mouth is very clean, thank you very much!" He figured if sounded insulted enough, it would mask the fact that it totally wasn't. Sure, he only fed off salt water, but he sucked on sugary candy until he developed cavities that wouldn't be there if he just brushed! But she didn't need to know all of that. "And anyway! You should be happily feeding me after I dragged your dead weight all the way up that cliff! If not for me, you would still be rolling down that cliff like a moldy potato into that monster's mouth!"

LuLu had to admit that Sev had a point. If it were not for the two of them working together they would have both been goners. Then again, he was the reason she had been down there in the first place. The girl rolled her eyes at him, but even she could take pity on the wounded. Plus, he had risked his life to save her even if he had been the precipitating factor.
She supposed this one time would not kill her. It could be repayment. They could form a temporary truce for now, they probably already had formed a silent one the second both of them went over the cliff. Really though, she would do anything to stop him from looking so pathetic. Her heart was still racing from earlier.
LuLu floated off of Sevilin and pulled up a corner of her sleeve to show off one wrist. "Here take it if you need it," she continued to preserve some of her indifferent facade, "I do not want to carry your butt back to the car."

Oh, that did it. Putting his forearm into her chest, he pushed with all his might and disposed of her onto the gritty floor. "Ha! As if you'd need to!" he shouted as he floated back into the sky. The little frei made sure to float extra high to be an imposing force. "I'm not the one who can't fly, okay? I could beat you back to the car in no time--In fact! I'm leaving! Forget you!"
As fast as he could get his last words out, the sea fairy turned and floated as fast as he could with his tiny translucent wings. If she never found her way back, that was fine with him!

LuLu glowered at Sevlin from the ground. That was it! Any truce that had been made was now over. The frei got up and brushed herself off. She was not overly concerned about the head start she was giving Sevilin while she tended to the wounds on her ego.
The girl may have been limited to hovering, but the sea frei had forgotten one crucial detail. She was a rabbit. Only fools challenged a creature made for speed to a race. LuLu smirked to herself as she floated after Sevilin. She would make sure to smack the back of his head as she passed by. Maybe that would put some sense into its empty space.
Though, in the end, it did not really matter who won. Even a draw would have concluded with a fight. The two freis had a certain energy to their relationship that could only be described in one way: volatile. Their dynamic vacillated from one end of the spectrum to the other, able to go from playful to violent in a matter of seconds. Together they were as unpredictable as they were vivacious. Two equal and opposite forces living together in one home was a recipe for disaster. Yet, who knows what could be forged among the chaos.
