If he couldn't be a knight, he could at least console himself visiting Thuri at work. The Liepard stripped and danced at one of the largest casinos in the area. He was extremely good at what he did, probably because he really loved it; give Thuri a spotlight and he was right at home. Gauvain understood that, but he longed for a different spotlight: the love of others, being cheered because he had slain the evil. That was his dream.
Gauvain would, perhaps, later forget this dream. For now, as an infant, it burned brightly in his imagination, even while he climbed on top of the casino stools and spent a bunch of tokens on the slot machines. Everyone knew him, by now, at the casino. They'd never bother him. In fact, they tended towards adoring him; anyone working the Casino who saw Gauvain playing would scoop him up and hug him. After all, this was the place where he'd appeared, this was where his fathers met, this was where they'd gotten engaged, where they'd won the prize money that would someday be his inheritance.
However, having run out of tokens, and waiting until Thuri was on his lunch break for the liepard to take him out for lunch, Gauvain unfurled his wings as he hopped down off the stool, flapping the white feathers gently to cushion the impact of hitting the ground. He wanted to work on combat! On dodges! On rolls. But his fathers wouldn't let him yet. Later, oh, later he would acquire the Knight skills he so craved.
For now, outside the casino doors, Gauvain started to sift through his feathers and straighten some of them, grooming himself. He was a very tidy, appearance-conscious infant, likely because of his love for Thuri. "Oh, hello out there?" Gauvain asked suddenly, blinking his blue gold-flecked eyes into the shadows beside the building and then scanning the street. He could have... sworn he'd seen someone. Someone very blonde.

Briar couldn't count the times that he and his father have visited to the Clubs. Mostly it was to deliver food to the place where people never sleep and are constantly hungry. But other times, like today, it was something private for old Dmitri that his son has no idea about all for the fact that he's visiting a friend of his. As usual, the little blonde grew tired of sitting with the horse and cart and decided to walk around to burn the time away before going home to be at the fields happily.
Truth to be told, Briar did in fact love the faction very much for it's here that he can have the time to relax from working on the farm and also see his friends despite the fact he likes to work. It's hard for them to come over to the Diamonds due to the river as well as the hedge maze but he doesn't mind leaving home to see them. It makes him the happiest in the world when he does.
He explored a little farther than the normal when the little blonde walked by a fairly large and brightly lighten building with colorful looking cards, dices, and tokens flashing. It looked amazing! As he was trapped in utter awe, his leafy ears caught a small voice making them twitched to catch where it was coming from. However, just before he could look and see, Briar was bumped into a pompous looking fat cat of a Purugly which knocked the little blonde down. "I'm so sorry sir!" He immediately apologized to the man as he quickly stood up and wanting to dust off his pant leg. "Get away from me . . . . filthy little boy . . ." The cat muttered before he quickly walked away in the crowd leaving him staring endlessly to the ground.
Immediately he felt lost as he walked out of the shadows of the building, dusting away the invisible dirt off his gown and wiping his eyes clean feeling the tears stinging his vibrant green eyes. Just as he brought his hands down, he saw a boy in front of the building dressed so immaculate for someone so young but his eyes were drawn to him and his breathtaking blue gold-flecked eyes and he smiles warmly to him. ". . . hello."

Gauvain wasn't particularly large, and he was not particularly strong, and he was not, equally, particularly smart... but he was currently obsessed with knights, and the code of chivalry. So when He saw the leafeon infant knock him down, and call him filthy, Gauvain watched in disgust and irritation. Not with the infant, but the purugly. He subsequently filed the image into his brain, and vowed to never show that man a kindness!
Gauvain, once he had finished staring the man down in infant rage, turned to the cute little Leafeon with a glittering smile, walking right over and checking the Leafeon for any injuries. "Did he hurt you? Are you alright?" Gauvain stroked his little hands across the Leafeon's face, brushing whatever was left of tears off of the infant's cheeks, a radiant smile across Gauvain's face. When he smiled like that, the gold flecks in his eyes caught the sun and made them glitter.
"Next time I'll move faster and stop anyone from doing such a thing to you-- come inside, come inside, we can sit and rest! I'll find you some water," Gauvain insisted, taking hold of one of the Leafeon's hands firmly in both of his own hands and trying to gently lead him into the casino. Home turf. Towards the slot machines!

It was very much to his distraught that this beautiful boy had saw what happen with the adult Purugly. He felt embarrassed that he couldn't look up to the Swanna's face but when he felt the tender hand upon his tanned cheeks the blonde did looked back up to his face. A subtle blush bloomed as his tears were wiped away and he slowly nod. "No he didn't . . . but I'm fine! Honestly, I am." Briar smiled softly; his bright and round his emerald eyes shone as he stared in the glittering blue.
Briar blinked when his hand was taken into the Swanna's as he was being guided inside of the building. "Ah! B-but I shouldn't. I need to go back to my papa and-" The little blonde ended up walking in with him for he was also curious of what this place could be. And it was far more than what he had imagined! Eyes widen in sheer wonder of all the sights and sounds. The people were dressed glamorously as they played at the tables seeing how much fun they're having as they are given more and more of those small colorful round things. It was all too much for him to take in as he is practically glued to the other boy's side; holding on to his hand. "Wow . . ." Briar muttered in awe. This was something that the little country boy has never seen before.
"What is this place . . . . . oh! I don't know your name." The little blonde spoke as he was being guided in, staring at the pretty Swanna with a bashful smile as he could feel his cheeks stinging in heat of a rosy blush. "My name is Briar. It's very nice to meet you."

Gauvain waited only long enough for the Leafeon to reassure him that he was fine; the blushing was cute! The kid really did seem like he wasn't from around Clubs. And he was certain that they could find his papa... later. For now, it was time to have some fun, and to relax, and besides it was much cooler inside the casino. Some rest and a drink wouldn't kill the adorable kid.
Home turf. The Casino. The inside seemed, to Gauvain, to sparkle and radiate happiness. To Gauvain, the odds were always in his favour, because he was the House. Ever since that day his fathers had won not only a substantial sum, but also his egg, Gauvain had trailed luck wherever he went. "Wow, yeah? It's beautiful, it's vibrant, it's everything I want from life!" Gauvain said, blowing a tiny kiss into the casino with his free hand, grinning. Almost everything he wanted from life. But he didn't spoil the moment.
"You don't know what a casino is?! It's where people come to test their luck and walk away with something special!" Sometimes, it was a sense of dread, but Gauvain never talked about that, even when he was old enough to understand it. His specialty was erasing the suffering and making everyone feel good, even about losing. "Forgive me! My manners," Gauvain apologized. He stopped long enough to bend onto one knee, scoop up Briar's hand in his, and brush his tiny lips against it-- he didn't really understand that it was supposed to be a kiss, he had just absorbed the gesture from watching far, far too many movies about the Knights. "I'm Gauvain, Vye for short! One day, I'll be Sir Gauvain, but for now... pleased to meet you, Briar; what a cute name," the Swanna complimented him, smiling, getting to his feet again.
Gauvain, suddenly excited by the prospect of slot machines, ushered the Leafeon over and helped him get ontop of one of the plush, dark red chairs. "Here! Play, I'll find you some water," Gauvain told him, grabbing a half-full cup of coins from a passing waiter who winked at him and kept on. He'd just tell Thuri, who would pay it off. As soon as he was able to get the Leafeon settled, he'd promise to return, and then grab water for the boy.

Walking with the Swanna, Briar couldn't help but to giggle on how enthusiastic he was. It's really nice to see others happy with what they really love dearly and enthusiastic too for he is the same way. He loves working with his father back home and basically seeing the fruits of his labor being enjoyed by others. It's just the best feeling in the world to him.
When he explained about the casino to him it had made perfect sense to the little blonde. He knew about testing his luck after he went on the faction visit when he gambled with the dice. He couldn't believe it still that he won from the game which still made him happy even though the Leafeon believed it to be just sheer luck. "That sounds like a lot of fun!" Briar said with glee. When the Swanna paused in their walk it puzzled him for a brief moment after he apologized. His bright verdant orbs widen when he had kneel before him and took his hand to brush his lips against his petite fingers. At that moment his leafy ears and tail shot straight up and his face is completely red. People are surely watching them; mostly gushing on how adorable they are which made it very uncomfortable for Briar. But he appreciate the very kind gesture as he brought a hand up to cover his huge, bashful smile; probably looking like the blushing princes that Gauvain seen in pictures with knights. "Gauvain . . ." Briar spoke softly, remembering the name with his leafy tail flicking back and forth. He couldn't believe he was blushing this much, well, he could for the first time that he was like this was when he first met Isaac; his first and dear friend.
Soon Briar was pulled over to the slot machines where Gauvain helped him up to the comfortable seats and thanked him for the assistance. He scanned the machine up and down in wonder. Soon he was given a cup of tokens and was told to play while Gauvain went off to get some water for him. "But I don't know ho-" Before he could even finished his sentence, the Swanna was gone leaving Briar alone but to stare at the slots machine.
His wandering eyes looked around at the other players here to see how it was done. They seemed to be pushing tokens in and then pulling on the lever to make the wheels spin until it stopped and be rewarded with coins. After watching the mechanics, he took one token and slipped it in the machine and pulled the lever down as hard as he could. The wheels spin before his eyes as he watched before stopping as the first two wheels stopped revealing matching pictures of cherries and the last one was a '7'. Not perfect but he won a few coins which made him happy with his tail wagging rapidly. With that he continued to play and watch the wheels spin until they stop.

Instead of reappearing alone, Gauvain was seated on his father's hip; Thurisaz, specifically. Thuri was clearly on his break, or at least to Gauvain, because he was still dressed in the cowboy boots, short shorts and open sequined vest that he sometimes wore for his performances. Thuri was very clearly a stripper. Gauvain seemed like he could care less, and that the very sun originated from his daddy: he cooed in contentment as Thuri picked him up and set him down in front of the chair where he'd left Briar to play the slots.
"Catching them young, Vye, honey? Hi, there, you're Briar? Gauvain was just telling me all about you! I brought you some water, and a sandwich," Thuri smiled, snapping his tail back and forth excitedly. The Liepard was clearly very young to be a father, but he looked like he'd taken to the role pretty happily. He handed over a bottle of water, having unscrewed the cap so that it was no longer locked, and offered him a cucumber sandwich, as well. Refreshing! And meat-free, which was basically because Thuri did not eat meat. Ironically.
"Daddy! Can we play in the casino more?" Gauvain asked him, smiling beautifically. Thuri returned that smile with one equally happy, kneeled in front of Gauvain and held out his hands, palms up. Gauvain eagerly smacked his own hands into his father's, as if a double low-five, and they fist-bumped.
"Sure sweetheart, but don't keep your friend from his father too long, okay? I'm sure they miss each other!" With that, Thuri excused himself, pausing only to say, "Hey, little sprout, you'll be handsome when you grow up, so don't let anyone here tell you any different, got it?" Thuri called over his shoulder to Briar, waving goodbye. It was easy to see where Gauvain got his charisma.
That accomplished, Gauvain seemed to be far too excited, and would likely need to nap soon. "Here, let me try one?" Gauvain requested, borrowing a coin, and slotting it in. When he pulled it, whatever combo he got yielded quite a few coins. As a result, he filled up their original cup and grabbed a discarded empty one. As soon as that same waiter who'd passed by earlier returned, Gauvain handed him the new cup, filled with exactly as many coins as the first had been. Give or take a few. Gauvain was eerily good with money; not reading, not math per se, but money; understanding amounts and how much was given or taken.
The waiter smiled. This was clearly not unusual. Thuri's tab: wiped clean. Gauvain grabbed their now-doubled loot and, enthusiastically, tried to usher Briar out of the seat and towards a brightly lit tunnel. "Briar, before you go back to your daddy, let's play some arcade games first! I want to win you something," Gauvain insisted, smiling still.
If Briar agreed, Gauvain would skip off towards the tunnel, probably after at least attempting to grab one of Briar's hands, their cup of coins clutched close. Crane machines were a bit of a specialty for Gauvain! Combine luck, skill and far too much practice... and what did you get? A lot of stuffed animals, actually.

After a while of playing at the slots, Briar was getting used to it, seeing what patterns make what as the coins poured out. He wondered where Gauvain had went off too but all of a sudden he saw him but he’s not alone. His bright green orbs looked up to see a very sparsely dressed Liepard to which he blushed in a soft shade of pink as he smiled at him. However he quickly noted just how lovely the feline really is. It’s easy to see how Gauvain looked so beautiful with a parent like him.
His leafy ears pricked up from hearing his name being called from the Liepard. The little blonde is very surprised to hear that Gauvain was talking about him too and couldn’t help to wonder what sort of things they’ve talked about. But that thought was pushed away when he saw a yummy looking sandwich and water for him which made his mouth absolutely watered up. “Th-thank you so much!” Briar thanked him as he took the snack and happily took a big bite of the cucumber sandwich and unscrewing the cap of the water bottle to drink some. He ate in silence, legs kicking in glee, as Gauvain talked to his father about playing some more here in the casino. Briar hoped to play some more with his new friend; giggling a bit as he watched them doing some sort of low five and a fist bump for it was nice seeing just how close they were.
Taking a few last bites of the sandwich, finishing it off, a frown was made from his petite lips as he drank down his water to hide it. “Oh yeah . . . papa must be really mad at me . . .” It’s been happening a lot lately of him leaving the Shiftry’s side. It was the last thing he ever wanted to do but he hoped that Dmitri won’t be so mad at him. His bright green orbs caught the pretty Liepard walking away and paused momentarily only to say a few inspiring words to him. It made his little heart elated to hear such kind words that it almost made him want to cry. Crying good, happy tears of course seeing a warm blush bloomed upon his tanned cheeks and a pretty smile appeared. “Thank you so much again!” He called out to him before Thurisaz walked away from their sight. “Your daddy is really amazing Gauvain . . .”
Hearing that Gauvain wanted to try, he gave him the cup of coins to try and play at the slots while he drinking some water. For a moment he had almost dropped the water bottle only because he was really amazed of how skillful he was as the coins just keep on pouring out. “You’re really amazing too!” Super amazing really after seeing the amount of coins that is in the cup now plus filling up another one. One of them was given to the waiter that was going by and took the liberty of taking Briar’s water bottle to dispose of it for him and walked away from them.
Briar had some helped out of his seat from the Swanna and was shown to a brightly lit tunnel before him which increased his curiosity greatly of what it could be. He looked to Gauvain as he spoke about playing some arcade games before going back to his daddy as well as winning him a prize. A small gasp was heard from the Leafeon; feeling very shy about the thought of the Swanna boy doing so much for him. “Sure, but you really don’t have to win me anything . . . let's just have some fun!” He was modest, very modest, as he was just happy playing with him as his hand was taken by him and skipped along down the tunnel to another room full of bright lights and sounds of the games. It was a lot for Briar to take in that he held on to Gauvain’s hand tightly; almost clinging to his side and followed along with him.

Gauvain was, unlike Logan, blessed with seemingly endless luck. Even when he wasn't lucky, he was fairly optimistic, minus his occasional (actually quite frequent) tantrums. Ideally he'd grow out of those. He was busy smiling at Thuri's retreating back, when Briar suggested his father was upset with him, and also complimented Gauvain's father. "If he's mad I'll explain! It's not your fault I dragged you in here," Gauvain argued, gently, beaming. He added: "My daddies are great, I love them! I'm sure your papa loves you too, probably very much?" Gauvain just couldn't imagine a life without his loving fathers, and he assumed everyone had a life like that.
"Nooo, this isn't amazing," Gauvain protested, laughing. "It's easy! The knights are amazing... If I could be anything in the whole world, I'd be a knight. I will be, one day..." Gauvain sighed, and fanned his wings out. "What would you be, Briar? If you could do anything at all?" Dreams were a big part of Gauvain's life, after all.
The tunnel definitely led to Ex's favourite underground games, a hidden area; this particular section was only skimming the surface, but it was fairly certain that further on underground Ecstasy was playing arcade games and probably high on something or other. "Winning is fun...! And besides, this is what I'm good at," Gauvain argued, winking at the leafeon and squeezing his hand. "I can even show you how some tricks about this crane game," he added. "Although... maybe today I'll just win you something quickly, so we can get you back to your papa? Tommy will help us look, I'm sure!" Gauvain flipped his phone open and texted his father at home, asking him to come pick them up on the motorcycle. Of course, Tommy would probably take the electric scooter instead. It was still nice, but Gauvain really liked the motorcycle.
"Let's do this. Hmm... the pink rabbit!" Gauvain singled out a stuffed animal like a pro pool-player would call the ball they intended to sink, not with cockiness so much as a sense of self-assurance; he knew he could get it right, because he'd done this many times before. After all, he loved visiting his father at work. Gauvain slotted a token into the machine and, on his first try, freed the pink rabbit and got it out. It was half his size, with long fluffy ears that flopped down. He shoved it towards Briar with both hands. "Take it! I hope you don't mind it, it seems soft," Gauvain said, rubbing his cheek on its fur.
"Did you wanna try real quick, or go meet my daddy? He'll help us find your papa," he said. "Thank you for playing at the casino today, Briar. I had a lot of fun with you." Gauvain leaned around the very large pink rabbit to kiss Briar's cheek, giggling whether or not he succeeded.

It was very nice of Gauvain to explain the situation to his father even though he really shouldn’t have. While Briar would have argued back to him, it seemed rather pointless seeing that gentle beaming smile that he ended up sighting softly and nodded in agreement that his father loves him. “He does, although sometimes he’s very serious and strict . . . but my papa does deep down.” Briar knew that he is a serious man for he has been working for as long as he lived. There are only a few times that the Shiftry smiled but the little blonde understands his father well and when he does smile then it means that he’s very happy.
Briar loved hearing about Gauvain’s dreams about being a knight. He couldn’t help but giggle slightly seeing that dreamy look from him and secretly hoped that he does accomplish his dreams. When the question was asked to him, his bright green orbs blinked a couple of times before he was in thought about his dreams. “Well . . . I want to be a farmer just like my papa. But my dream, I want to make everyone happy. Everyone deserves happiness in life no matter where they’re from or who they are and I hope that I can do that by giving everyone yummy food. People are happy with a full stomach after all!” His dream is by far so innocent and kind much like how Briar is seeing that kind smile. Others would probably see it as naïve for it’s just impossible to make every single person happy but Briar aspires to be the one who can give just a little bit of sunshine in their life.
The bright lights were something that will leave a permanent memory in the Leafeon’s mind. He wanted to look around more seeing what else is here at the end of the tunnel but the little blonde stayed by Gauvain’s side and holding on to his hand tightly only to catch that wink when he looked back at the Swanna. The grass type was really interested on how the game was played seeing the different kinds of toys and prizes inside of the machine; standing on his toes to see more while Gauvain messaged his father Tommy to pick them up later. Hearing the cellphone snapping closed, Briar saw the confident boy stepping up to the crane game with his target in sight which was the pink bunny.
Briar watched in amazement of his skills as he moved the claw at the right spot with such precision and gasped in awe with his leafy ears standing straight up to see that the Swanna had actually got the bunny! The little blonde applauded for his victory as he held the cute bunny and was greatly surprised when the bunny was soon given to him and held it. “Oh! You really shouldn’t—” He started to speak but stopped midsentence when Gauvain nuzzled his cheek against the soft fur which made him smile softly. “Thank you so much. It’s so cute.” He gave in finally as Briar held the bunny tightly in his arms and snuggling against it as his leafy tail swishes from side to side in joy.
He perk his head up when the Swanna gave him choices of either giving the game a try to play or going to see his daddy in hopes to find his papa. The Leafeon pondered shortly of what to do but the thought was pushed out of his mind when he thanked the young boy for playing with him at the casino and sealed the thank you with a small kiss on his cheek that Briar had felt brushing against his skin. Those green orbs looked as though they were about to pop out and blushed completely to a deep shade of red but he quickly buried his face into the pink bunny in order to hide it from Gauvain, leafy ears folding down just to hide away even more as he tries to calm down even though he’s squealing in his mind. “Calm down calm down calm down calm down calm down calm down!!!” It was such a big moment for him as it was his first kiss on the cheek.
Soon his bright round eyes popped up from hiding behind the bunny as his face is still slightly flushed but he’s feeling better. With a sheepish smile on his face, he took one of the token coins from the cup that Gauvain held and walked up to the machine. “Maybe just one game, and then I need to find my Papa.” Briar said as the coin was slipped in the slot, placed the bunny down on the ground beside him, and played as he already eyed a cute lion doll far in the back. The little blonde merely followed along and did what the Swanna boy did and the claw had actually snatched up the lion! “Look look! I did it Gauvain!” He exclaimed loudly as the Leafeon took the doll out which is about the same size as the pink bunny and with a very fuzzy mane and he gave the doll to Gauvain. “Here, a brave lion for a brave knight.” Briar giggled a little in hopes that he liked the doll a lot as his way of saying thank you for his. “I also had a really fun time here with you and . . . thank you for cheering me up too.” Briar smiled sweetly as he reached down to grab his bunny then Gauvain’s hand. “C’mon! Let’s go look for my Papa!”

Briar was certainly down to earth; very unlike the airy Gauvain and his inability to treat anything as if it was tactile. "You won't have to worry about making me happy! I'm always happy," Gauvain asserted, grinning. No judgement on Gauvain's behalf; he was still a child, the part of him that would later allow him to judge was not yet in him.
He liked what he liked, and he liked Briar's company, certainly. Even if they were very, very different! If Briar wanted to see the rest of the tunnels, surely one day he would; Ex didn't invite almost anyone into the lower tunnels but the ones closer to the surface were fairly well-frequented by the more odd denizens of Clubs.
"I'm glad you like it!" Gauvain said, clapping his hands together in glee. "You're really cute when you blush," Gauvain added, giggling. His applause escalated into respect for the country boy as he won a lion. "I love it! It's perfect! This is perfect!" Gauvain gushed, scooping his lion up and burying his face in the fur. "Let's hang out again sometime soon, okay?" Gauvain added, holding onto Briar's offered hand and heading out with him.
Tommy was already looking for the boy's 'Papa,' and had been ever since he received a text from Tommy and then a text from Gauvain, piecing together the whole situation. Tommy's expression was utterly disgruntled as he was trying not to spot his husband wandering around in his stripper attire.
Admittedly, he didn't really approve of Gauvain or his new friend playing around in here. "Hey, Vye, I think I found your friend's dad. He's outside."
