xxxxxAll Alreschans are born with white skin, but very rarely does their skin stay white. As an Alreschan is exposed to sunlight their skin begins to darken, staying within a blue spectrum of colors. Because of this, white skin on an adult is often seen as a sign of frailty or chronic illness. Most often the Alreschan people are colored true blues whether they be vibrant or muted, but very rarely one might find an individual whose skin may be tinted towards green or purple while still being near the blue spectrum. In Alreschan hybrids the skin's blue spectrum color is a recessive trait, but the skin's tendency to darken when exposed to sunlight is dominant. The color palette below is just a small sample of the skintones possible in Alreschans - an individual could be more vivid or dull, or lighter or darker depending on how much time they spent in the sun.

Hair Color
xxxxxAlreschans have fairly typical hair, although the color is often just as notable as the rest of their appearance. Hair is typically dark and cool in color, with the most common colors being dark purples. Other possible colors, in order of most common to rarest, were blues, greens, cyans, cool grays, and in some very rare instances black or white. Hybrids have a higher rate of other hair colors as Alreschan hair is recessive when crossed with other races.

Eyes
xxxxxAlreschan eyes are easily one of the most notable traits of their people and apart from color are one of the few things that always seems to breed true. There is no distinction between iris and sclera in their eyes - both are colored as the iris would be. The pupil remains in tact but is ovoid in shape as opposed to round. Actual eye colors can be any shade, but are always dark and near-black in full blooded Alreschans. An Alreschan hybrid is capable of having brighter eye colors, but the color will always fill the entirety of the eye only excepting the pupil. The palette below is a small sample of possible eye colors for Alreschans.

Lung Capacity
xxxxxAlreschans have an increased lung capacity and can hold their breath for great lengths at a time. The average Alreschan can easily remain underwater without resurfacing for air for approximately ten to fifteen minutes, but more experienced divers can go for up to twenty-five minutes at a time. This increased lung capacity is found among all Alreschans and Alreschan hybrids.
Nictitating Membrane
xxxxxThe Alreschan people possess a fully functioning nictitating membrane on their eyes - essentially a third eyelid that draws closed to protect their eyes when underwater. Alreschan hybrids often don't have this trait unless the race they are crossed with possesses it as well.
Webbing
xxxxxAll Alreschans possess webbing between their fingers and toes. The webbing itself is thick and opaque, with color typically either a shade darker or lighter than the current skintone of the individual. Like skin, the webbing darkens as it exposed to sunlight. It is a dominant trait.
Fashion:;
Alreschan fashion is heavily influenced by not only their environment, but their physiology as well. Because of the way their skin darkens, most Alreschans prefer wearing as little as possible. Their fashion is characteristically revealing, and heavily inspired by their beachside homes. Swimwear of all kinds are often used as "base garments" with more complex outfits adding sheer fabrics that allow the sun to reach the skin. Everyday jewelry is most often made from materials like braided ropes, seashells, shark teeth, carved driftwood, and other things easily scavenged on the beach. Shoes are fairly uncommon for day to day wear, but when worn they are most commonly simple flat sandals and other slip ons.
The only time one would really see an Alreschan "covered up" is for extremely formal occasions, where fashions are much more elaborate. Layers are fairly common, with base garments remaining opaque with multiple sheer top layers. There is never an inbetween with Alreschan fashion - they either cover very little or as much as possible. More formal accessories often incorporate rarer materials, like precious pearls or even gems and metals imported from other worlds. While bare feet are still just as common, more elaborate open shoes are worn as well.
As a general rule, the shape of Alreschan clothing is quite varied. Most common clothing shapes are inspired by the beaches and oceans they live on, with inspiration pulled from things like sea creatures, shells, waves breaking on the beach, and other sights both common and uncommon. Daily wear colors are most often vibrant hues of all colors, although blues and sea greens were considered particularly attractive to most Alreschans. Formal wear was often more pastel, with cleaner lines.

xxxxxBecause Alreschan skin darkens at a steady rate with exposure to sunlight, most Alreschans will paint elaborate patterns on their skin in their youth. The unique paint is formulated to resist all kinds of outside influence, and will last for up to a month even with regular swimming in seawater. Because the paint is opaque, when it's finally removed it will leave permanent patterns on the skin. How much or little and how long an Alreschan paints their skin is a personal decision, but it is most common for them to begin this process around puberty and to cease painting when they are satisfied with the contrast between the light patterns and the rest of their darkened skin.
